Step 1: Crafting the Furnace
To craft the furnace, you will need 15 stone, and some wood, once you have the resource's craft the furnace.
Step 2: Place the furnace
The title of this section says it all, I reccomend putting the furnace in your shelter/house. As if you do this, you can smelt/melt your items and leave it there without worrying of people taking your stuff.
Step 3: Actually using the Furnace now.
Once you have followed Step 1 and 2, you are ready to get your furnace into work! First off, get some wood (You might need alot) Place the wood into an empty slot of the furnace, then insert what you want to smelt (Example: Metal Ore's, Sulphur, ect, ect.) After you have inserted the items, exit out of the furnace screen and use the furnace (Def: E) Doing this will cause the furnace to ignite, then you let your items smelt, after a while you have metal fragments! Or whatever your smelting.
Goodbye.
I hope this guide helped you or any people you're playing with. Have fun playing Rust.

You can use lowgrade fuel to ignite the fire as well and putting cloth in it turns it into leather.

Cripple, you hold down the middle mouse button and a menu will pop up for opening or turning it on or off much like the camp fire.
