"The Maschinengewehr 42 or also known as the MG 42, a German full medium-sized machine gun and was commonly used by the Wehrmacht and the Waffen-SS during World War II. The Maschinengewehr translates to 'Machine Rifle' but usually translated as 'machine gun'. It was designed and produced in 1942. The MG 42 fires 7.92×57mm Mauser and carries 50 or 250-round belt-fed or belt drum. The MG 42 is an upgraded variant of the MG 34 and it was originally intended to replace the MG 34, however, the two machine guns were still used by the Wehrmacht and Waffen SS until the end of World War II. The MG 42 was described to be low-cost and easy to build, making the MG 42 reliable and easy to operate. As we all know, the MG 42 has an impressive fire rate to point the target can be torn apart from the MG 42 and the operator of the MG may have difficulty firing a single shot from a full-auto machine gun. The MG 42 has a unique sound, making the MG 42 the most deadliest and frightening weapon for the Allied forces. With the terrifying MG sound, it was given the MG's nickname as 'Hitler's buzzsaw'. Though the MG 42 may be out of service for the German Military, they still carry a machine gun based on the MG 42, but more 'modernized' which is the Rheinmetall MG3. "
