How to play The Scout [FULLY UPDATED]

Welcome to my Scout guide. This is my first ever guide for the scout, I hope you enjoy it.
We're going to start with the basics, if you are already familiar with these feel free to scroll down further into the guide.

The Scout

The Scout has the following attributes:
125 Health (Lowest health in the game, tied with sniper, engie and spy)
133% Speed (Fastest class in the game)
A Double Jump


So, you can kinda see what they want you to do with the Scout. They want you to use his mobility to get behind enemy lines and flank the enemy, go for important picks like medics, heavies and demomen.
Since he has such a small health pool, its very important to know how to dodge shots.
Let's get right into it!
Weapons
The Scout's arsenal consists of a Scattergun, Pistol and a Bat.
I'm going to list all the weapons the scout has, starting from the Bats, from worst to best.


Batman
The Bat is the weakest melee weapon in the game.
It does -35 damage and swings twice as fast as a regular melee weapon.
Do not ever EVER use the bat as a damage source, the bat requires you to be at point blank range to do damage, and that's where a scattergun does -108. Tell me, would you want your enemy to take -35 damage or -108 damage?
If you run out of scattergun shots, remember your pistol can be just as good as the scattergun in some situations.
Enough about the scattergun and the pistol, this section is for the bats.

  • The Fan O War

The Fan O War is the weakest bat, and I'm sure many will agree with me. If you hit someone with it, it marks them for death, which makes them take mini crits instead of normal damage.
This isn't useful at all because by attacking them with the Fan O War, they will only take -3 damage and be marked, they will be alerted of your location and will turn around and kill you before you can even switch to your scattergun. This weapon only works from behind because rushing an enemy with a melee weapon is going to get you killed, and if your behind somebody you might as well plant that shotgun into their back, am I right?



  • The Sun On a Stick

The Sun On A Stick is the second worst bat because this thing actually does okay damage when someone is on fire. That's it. You shouldn't even use it because you can still meatshot a burning target for -108.














  • The Wrap Assassin

The only reason why this isn't worse than the other two is because you can do ranged damage. That's it. Use it if you have nothing else.













  • The Candy Cane

This is here because the small health packs help you fight against Pyros, and can increase your survivability by quite a big. The HUGE downside is that you will be blown up by a pill if it hits you directly since they have no damage falloff, and you die in one shot from explosives now.
















  • Sandman


This thing is good because it allows you to stun someone at range, which lets you blindly w+m1 at them while they can't do anything. This thing when combined with the flying gulliotine is completely OP, you can literally walk at a fully overhealed heavy, sandman him, gulliotine him, then meatshot him to death+ the bleed damage. Don't do that though, poor heavies don't deserve such a thing.
Also you can die more often. -15 health really is a big deal.












  • The Unarmed Combat/Holy Mackarel

WHAAAAAAAAAT? THIS IS A GOOD WEAPON? BUT, BUT... ITS JUST A DEFAULT RESKIN! No.
The fish is the answer to the meaning of life. The fish is like a swiss army knife. You can eat it, you can shank people to death with it, you can fly with it, you can even make sentries with it. That's right
If you haven't been paying attention, all those other weapons I listed as downgrades.
The only thing this thing is good at is when you whack a spy and you knock him into dead ringer, In the killfeed it will say "YOURNAME X2 SPY" when instead it should say "YOURNAME FISH KILL! SPY"







  • The (Constantly) Conscious (CLOP)O/bjector
THIS ITEM IS GOOD BECAUSE YOU CAN DECAL YOUR FAVOURITE CLOP/FURRY/TF2/ AND HAVE A LITTLE WANK WHEN YOUR BORED OF ALL THOSE L33T KILLS YOUR GETTING. SHOW IT TO YOUR ENEMIES AND FRIENDS ALLIKE TO REWARD THEIR WELL-EARNED EFFORTS WITH A HEALTHY WANK.
For the love of god please don't, read what it says before you use the decal.







  • The Atomizer

And we're finnaly in the upgrades section! The atomizer is a great utility bat. It basically has no downsides. 30% slower swing speed? -20% damage VS players? Why bother when you have the your Meatshot 8) cannon (Disclaimer, Please don't name your scattergun Meatshot 8), its not original and I will kill you everytime I see you ingame)
The triple jump damages you for -10, but its not like your gonna be spamming triple jumps, when it comes down to that time where you need to dodge that one rocket/pill/heavy/demoman/demopan/ebony warrior you're gonna be happy you had this on! Best to take -10 then -90 from that rocket, right?































  • The Boston Basher


The Boston Basher is #1 because it helps your medic build his uber. Uber wins games, triplejumps dodge rockets. You won't need to hit anyone with it, trust me. Just help that doctor build uber.
Note: if the medic on your team doesn't know what you are doing and refuses to charge his uber on you, just take the atomizer out.
Weapons, Part Two
Its Part Two of the weapons category, here we will be covering our little friends, Pistols.
(Like the first part, from worst to best)


  • The Winger

This pistol is bad. Really. +15% Damage bonus, -60% clip size, 25% greater jump height while holding it out.
You do more damage by having the stock's 12 shots than the winger's 5 shots. Not to mention the stock can be sprayed so that at least 3-4 hit and guarentee the finishing blow. the winger has basically twice the chance to miss your pick now. the greater jump height is only active when you hold it out, and its basically useless since switching to your pistol to dodge a rocket or really anything is impossible.


  • Crit-A-Cola

+25% movement speed, your attacks minicrit, you take 25% damage while active. Its quite bad, 25% damage means explosives one shot you up close (REALLY BAD!) hell, even a point blank scatter shot destroys you now. the mini crits, movement speed arent a good exchange for a reliable pistol.








  • The Pocket Pistol


It gives you +15 health, has 25% slower firing speed, and has a never take falling damage buff. You still do get killed by map hazards though.
The 25% slower firing speed is not a really big deal, you can still finish someone off with this just as easily as the pistol, the big deal here is the 50% voulnerability to fire. That's HUGE! You get burned to a crisp even faster than before.
That's bad because pyros usually protect the medic, and you can't kill him if your ash. Silly.


  • The Mad Milk


You heal for 60% of the damage you do after tossing this milk on someone. Useful, but I'm afraid that the stock pistol still dominates.


  • The Flying Gulliotine


This weapon is a stronger wrap assassin: It has a 6 second cooldown, it does -50 damage on hit, and bleed damage that totals to about -45. This weapon crits if someone is stunned. Stunned can mean: Being taunt killed by a taunt kill that can stun (Huntsman and ubersaw), stunned by a sandman, booed by the HHH, booed by a ghost.
The crit hit does -150 damage. This weapon is good, and sometimes a little bit OP. This weapon combined with the sandman allow you to literally walk at an overhealed heavy and kill him. Throw sandman, throw gulliotine, meatshot. Remember this will get you killed when the enemy is smarter/there's more enemies around, but the bare thought of you ripping appart a 450 HP enemy in seconds is... horrifying.

  • The Bonk Atomic Punch and the Pistol


Both of these take the #1 spot for the best scout secondary. Bonk is simply in some situations more useful than the pistol. I really can't explain when, you will find out yourself. The pistol is excellent if you run out of scattergun shots, remember it does -22 close range (a total of 244 damage if you hit all 12 shots.)

Weapons, Part Three
The final weapons part. Let's do this!
(FYI I'm labelling from worst to best, as usual)




  • The Soda popper

Ohoh, the soda popper.
It has 50% faster firing speed, 25% faster reload time, and -66% clip size, meaning you have two shots that you can reload fast and fire even faster. Seems fair? Here's the best part. You get minicrits. For running around. You literally get mini crits from holding down a button.
IMO. this is the stupidest and the cheapest scattergun you could use. Getting minicrits for doing a mechanic that any class can do? Stupid. That would be like soldier getting a mini crit for his rocket jumps, a spy getting mini crits for cloaking, a sniper getting mini crits for time scoped in, an engineer getting mini crits for whacking his sentry. This is one cheap gun that you should not use unless you dont mind being the most hated person on the server. Not only that, its not that good. 1v1, its the best (and the cheapest...) but when there's more people, or your trying to go for that important pick, if you miss your two shots, your done. even if it reloads faster, your done for unless you switch to pistol which is very hard to hit sometimes. Just use default.
Since this gun is so ridicolously cheap, I will tell you how to counter it right now
When he has his two shots loaded, dodge them. do a small circlestrafe, tap A and D, double jump unpredictably with air strafing, jump over his head! Just make sure he misses them. Once he does, its time to start showing him just how much better stock is. meatshot that bastard ,and finish him off. Poor little gibusling won't even know what hit him. If you insist on being a cheap bastard and using this weapon, pair it with the pistol, or the flying gulliotine. The pistol does like -26 on minicrit damage, and since mini crits have no damage falloff, it will be doing about -14 to -16 damage at long range. Damn. Mini crit gulliotine? That stings, you still bleed from taking a hit from it too, leaving you at 20 health. Pair it with the sandman, become the ultimate douchebag.






  • Force-A-Nature

This thing has the same problems as the popper, except worse. It has 50% firing speed like the popper, no extra reload speed, 20% more bullets on shot, 10% damage penalty, -66% clip size. You better hit with this thing, you really can't afford to miss and reload. Pair this with the pistol incase you miss. If your in the air, you can fire this to knock yourself back by a slight bit. Don't fire this gun while your in the air unless its the killing blow and no one is around, you will launch yourself up and be left falling down vertically, which is a bad thing, unless you have your double jump.
Pair this with the atomizer in case you have to absolutely fire it to kill someone so you can still jump away alive.

The FON also pairs up with the winger nicely, as the close-range damage on the FON is higher than stock. Hit the guy once then switch to winger to finish.
What I'm getting at is that the small gimmicks, the damage boost, and the sheer mobility of the scout make the FON a viable shotgun.
Not that it trumps the stock, just a different path.

  • The Shortstop

This gun is pretty decent, but as you might have guessed, nothing triumphs good old stock. Anyway, this gun has a clip reload. instead of reloading one shot, it reloads the entire clip which is good in some situations. Its the child of the scattergun and pistol, it lets you do decent damage at range, which is kinda nice, but its weaker up front... or up back, should I say? It shares the same ammo pool as the pistol, but don't worry about that, ammo everywhere, you shouldn't pair it with the pistol anyway. it has increased push force, which can help you escape airblast traps in open fields and fly away from that soldier who suprised you. I suggest you pair it with the pocket pistol for the no fall damage so you can escape nicely, or get some mad milk so you can take advantage of that +20% healing, maybe even an atomizer since now your an official health scout.






  • Baby Faces Blaster

Gotta go fast! It recently got buffed. Now you only move 10% slower with no boost, there is no damage penalty anymore, but your boost is decreased on double jump/air jump. It also comes with a -34% clip size, which is two less scattergun shots. The problem with this scattergun is you move so fast, its hard to actually hit people, and now that you can jump and double jump... not to mention you only have 4 shots to land, so you have to make them precise. Overall it's a good scattergun to use but it still doesn't beat stock





  • The Default



Oh I wonder what this is going to be. Of course, its going to be our good old friend, the stock scattergun. 6 shots, two barrels, fun for the whole team! This scattergun is the best scattergun and it does its job just right, that is... It handles important picks just right with nice -108 meatshots, like I said, it has a reliable 6 shots so if you miss two or even three, it aint no big deal.
Combine this with the boston basher and the pistol, you have yourself the best possible loadout for the scout.

Scout 101: Dodging and You!
A Wendigo is a cannibalistic deer-like creature that is known to eat human flesh.It is also said to be a cursed human and is said to be very strong and dangerous.

AppearanceEdit
The wendigo has a deer head or a deer skull (as shown in Lost Tapes).Its body is human-like but with brown fur. It can possess a human who has resorted to cannibalism and give that person an insatiable hunger for human flesh so it can kill friends of the human. The possessed victim has the ability to mimics peoples voices, have inhuman strength, and have sharp fangs and claws. (as shown in Lost Tapes)

The wendigo is rather zombified, as its spine and parts of its rib cage are visible.




Map Shortcuts


Well... I consider map shortcuts a part of dodging because... instead of going that way and probably getting shot... you took the short route... and didnt risk getting shot... you kinda dodged it... don't ask, my logic is weird.

The Isle Suggestion List


Hello,I'm not sure where is right place for suggestions,Discord or Steam,I don't know but I would like to give to you some suggestions for the game.(Don't judge until you reach the end)

1. Water and physics
Please improve physics,by that I mean: make dinosaurs can't collide one with other,add to them more movements and what's most important,add game mechanic in wich dinosaurs will not be able to hide under water forever,that is not realistic,they are not supposted to do that,so make that they can go into the water but they will drown.This depends of course on which dinosaurus you use,for example one Puertasaurus could go into enough deep lakes and rivers becaouse it's neck is long.I hope you understand what I mean.Add some animations when they are going into the water and make them slower when they are in it,not too deep.
2.More attack types and animations
Not all but big amount of dinosaurs should have more attacks. For example Puertasaurus could except for stomping with its weight other could use its powerful tail to slap other carnivores who want to attack it. Another example,Baryonyx (and maybe Suchomimus,Acrocanthosaurus,Allosaurus and two raptors in game) could use second "attack" not just their jaw but also claws (raptors could have third attack,like jump on someone) that can cause not bigger damage than a bite but could be quicker to use. Also add for these attacks animations,bite animations and other.

3.Herbivores and trees
I know that herbivore dinosaurs eat plants and leaves but not whole trees! And that disappearing of trees can affect the beauty of the lands. So why you do not try to improve that.It would be better that some herbivores can eat leaves on high trees some can't.Imagine Dryosaurus eat an whole gigantic tree.So you could add some type of hierarchy.For example small dinosaurs (herbivores) can eat grass and bushes,medium sized ones can eat grass and bushes and some very small trees and big and tall ones can eat all the trees,it also depends on what species.For example Maiasaura and Shantungosaurus could eat grass,bushes while Puertasaurus (for now only sauropod in game) can eat even the tallest trees. Of course to stop disappearing of the plants,you could add mechanic that does next,when they eat grass it will disappear,but not temporarily,after 5 minutes and/or if the dinosaur is 300-500 m away the grass will slowly grow again (how long or/and how far this must be is still on you,I just give an example).Same for trees (and bushes),just little bit difficult.The tree will still be there but without leaves.I know that that texturing and making all trees without leafs hard,but,hey you can do it if you would like to do it and whenever you would like to do it!

4.Branch improvements
Branches,OK I like the idea that some dinosaurs have different abilities but it would look better in different way.One thing that is for me weird is that Herrerasaurus is in the Venom branch.Why? I don't know but my idea is to make branches more linked with what species which dinosaur is.You made a good job with Aquatic branch,even I don't know why Austroraptor is there.So one of the branches for example could be like this Alioramus->Albertosaurus->Daspletosaurus->T.Rex I hope you understand what i mean.(I know that all three of them are not in game,but,just an example,in more evolution like style,but it's still up to your decision)

5.Hunger,Thirst,Stamina
I am still not completely sure but I think hunger and thirst are running out to fast. I think it should last for more time,like one day (day cycle in game) or lower. For stamina,it depends on which dinosaur you play,but it's good enough for now. Also if you think about suggestion No.3 and think it's not fair,that's the reason why I mentioned the time of trees and other plans growing again.

6.No grass around water and more abundance
I liked very much your job that you're done with some parts of new map.I mean in parts of the map where are lakes you added around them sand but not all around. So i suggest to remove grass that goes little bit into the water,and place on some places or more sand or dirt without grass or rocks (of any size) or clay (just to add more creativity to that place).And under the water you could add again some more of this things (not just sand),algaes and other water plants. Same with other places,you could always add some more bushes and other things for decoration.

7.More animations
Yes,more animations to add more realistic feeling to the game. To be honest,you will better know what I mean by this,even more than me.
And add more precision because sometimes when you play dinosaur (carnivore type) when it eats it's like (sometimes) 1 m or more away from actual meal. And when you added sandbox back I have seen that for example when T.Rex dies he falls through the ground like an ostrich.So could you please make death animations and all other similar stuff to make it little bit more detailed.

8.Less lags and glitches,blood improvements
I think you know for lag problems and all that stuff but could you please really improve that so game can look smoother (by this I mean problems when encountering other dinos and similar things). When dinosaur is killed blood looks good but when in grass,it looks like grass is untouched.So you could perhaps texture it to be in some parts blood painted. Same for trees,big rocks if you add them and similar.And also make more kinds of bleeding,and when blood falls on ground (add more textures I mean).
9.NPCs and decorations
I don't know if you are planning adding dinosaur NPCs but I'm still mentioning it.I heard you will so you have already plans so I have nothing to add to that. But I have an idea about Fish NPCs on which some Piscivores can feed.But I had one more idea about NPCs that will be more like for decorations which includes some prehistoric bugs and some small lizards and maybe something else.But that could be also used for food for small dinosaurs (I don't know if you will plan to add Compsognathus so,or Sinosauropteryx and Archaeopteryx ).

Ninoslav Parmaković u nedjelju u Maksimiru dobio je sve zračne dvoboje. Dinamova “eskadrila” pokraj njega, Tomića i Lučića nije imala mnogo izgleda. Međutim, 15-ak minuta prije kraja utakmice Dejan Lovren “prizemljio” je čvrstog Cibalijinog stopera i poslao ga - u bolnicu.
- U glavi mi se još nije posve razbistrilo, ali danas je kudikamo bolje nego u nedjelju navečer kada sam mislio da mi je unutra lunapark. Neposredno nakon udarca izgubio sam nakratko svijest, a kad sam došao u svlačionicu nazvao sam suprugu sve u redu. Još sam je pitao: “Je l’ još uvijek 0:0?”, a onda je ona shvatila da baš i nisam najbolje, jer je rezultat već odavno bio 1:1 - kaže Parmaković, koji se iz ove neprilike izvukao s povećim hematomom iznad uha, ali bez potresa mozga, na što se u prvi trenutak sumnjalo.

- Nazvao me Lovren i korektno se ispričao za neopreznost, pravi je sportaš. Znam i ja da nije bilo namjere, sve je to bilo u žaru borbe i ulazi u radni staž, ali baš je lijepo od njega što se javio - dodaje Parmaković kojemu je propisano višednevno obavezno mirovanje, pa će gotovo sigurno preskočiti subotu i Međimurje.

S obzirom da mu je u međuvremenu kompletiran cijeli maksimirski film, s happy-endom za Cibaliju, bilo je zanimljivo čuti kako je iz neposredne blizine doživio Sivonjićev “milenijski promašaj”?
- Malo je reći da sam se iznenadio. Već sam krenuo sam prema centru, mislio sam da nas nikakva dobra vila ne može spasiti, kad ono... Siguran sam kako tu loptu ni ja ne bih uspio bolje uštopati, nema šanse. Gledao sam snimku te akcije desetak puta, šanse za takav pothvat su valjda jedan naprema milijun!

Kako god, dečki s Bosuta su bodom osvojenim u Maksimiru iznova potvrdili kako se na njih ove sezone mora itekako računati...
- Dinamo je bio kraj jednog zahtjevnog mini-ciklusa iz kojeg smo se izvukli neporaženi - Hajduk (0:0), Šibenik (2:0), Karlovac (2:2) i Dinamo (1:1). Napravili smo odličan rezultat, šteta samo zbog one 30-minutne “pomrčine u igri” protiv Karlovca... Sve u svemu, moramo biti prezadovoljni dosadašnjim tijekom sezone, s tim da sam siguran kako imamo još mnogo toga za ponuditi.

Međimurje označava početak naizgled lakšeg rasporeda...
- Samo na papiru. Siguran sam da su i u Maksimiru bili uvjereni kako ćemo im biti lak zalogaj. Još se jednom pokazalo da je pristup iznimno važna stvar u sportu. Prema tome, ne budemo li pravi, u subotu bi Čakovčani mogli nama zapeti u grlu. Ali, vjerujem da neće, ozbiljna smo momčad.

Tips and Tricks
Well, this is the final section of this guide, a few tips and tricks for you before you go out there and kick some serious ass!
Let's go :)


  • You can double jump over any classes head.


  • You can double jump your crosshair into the enemy, a form of strafe AND dodging at the same time.


  • If your fighting a soldier and the rocket your about to take is unavoidable, jump! Once you have jumped, you will be high in the sky, flying to infinity and beyond. Airstrafe down and use your doublejump to land safely. Remember to keep your hands off W in the air and careful where you jump, dont wanna put an easy airshot on ya.


  • Demoknights can charge off a slanted surface and fly through the air towards you. Careful!

  • Listen carefully for the sound of jarate, mad milk, heavy miniguns, dead ringers and other danger.


  • Look at the wall. Do you see a big black spot? That's probably a rocket. See one on the floor? A roller exploded. Arrow on the wall? Wonder what that is. A bunch of random bullets on the wall? Heavy/Scout. Just one bullet? Sniper. Syringes? Schnidler.


  • Hello all, im a fello spy and im here to tell you some reverse tips. 1. Wearing bad hats beleive it or not makes people under estimate you. 2. If you know a spy is around, try to avoid pressing S. 3. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU TRY TO MELEE A SPY! Although you have a bit of speed and a double jump, he has backstabs and higher melee damage. 4. Learn all the trickstabs so you dont fall for any. Thanks for reading!

Batters helmet/bonk helm.


Starting of with the simplest looking and first two hats for the scout. Im putting them together because the only difference is a straw and two cans of bonk atomic punch (you even craft the bonk helm by using a bartters + 2 bonk atomic punches) Its a baseball helmet! It makes sense because of the arsenal of bats the scout has.
Looks good with: any bat and drink-weapon + soda popper, essensial accessories, Bonk boy, digit divulger, bolt boy, breakneck baggies, bigg mann on campus and the caffeine cooler.
Paint: I’d leave it unpainted.

The shortstop isnt that bad in my opinion. Its horrible if you use it like a idiot though. So basicly only use this in dire situations. Or stupid ones

With the BFB, loosing boost is not much of a problem because, if you're in combat, it's really easy to do over 100 damage, and you still go faster than anyone else even without full boost. Aiming is a slight problem, but after a few days practicing with it you get used to it.

my hats/miscs for the scout are el jefe, big man on campus and dues specs/proffesor speks. Gives you a really big collegey look.

You can do well with Winger, but what you can do with the winger you can do much much better with the stock though.
