Description
N.A.R.L. = North American Roads: Liberated

I have long been a fan of KraIstGerecht's North America+ texture pack for Roads United but the core mod has been abandoned and a number of bugs make it sub optimal. With KraIstGerecht's permission I have endeavored to bring his textures to modern C:SL in the form of custom networks using the built-in tools that were not available when Roads United was first conceived. And with the permission of andreharv I now have the privilege of releasing roads based on the Network Extensions project.

This road is based on the small, 16 meter wide 4 lane road from the Network Extensions project. Stat wise it is very similar to the standard 4 lane avenue, but with a slightly lower speed limit due to the narrower lanes.

Like many of my other roads, this one has a different traffic light configuration on the beginning and end of the segments. This means that you can choose whether to have the traffic signals on the close side of the intersection or, as is most common in the U.S., on the far side of the intersection. Having them on the far side looks best most of the time, but I find that having them on the near side is better for 3 way and non 90 degree intersections. Because the road has a "phantom" lane in the middle the game allows you to change the "direction" by right clicking with the road upgrade tool, just as you would with any asymmetrical or one-way road.

-=A Note On Removing Roads=-

If you remove this or any custom road and try to load a saved game with it you will likely run into the dreaded {MISSING NETINFO} bug which will prevent the save game from loading. As such if you wish to unsubscribe to this asset, please make sure you remove all instances of it from your city. The best way to do this, that I know of, is with the MOVE IT mod, using the box select with the picker set to the specific network you want to select. Then you can delete the whole bunch, or use it to help you find and replace segments with a different road. Keep in mind that each elevation (ground/elevated/bridge/slope/tunnel) is it's own network from the game's perspective, so you will have to delete up to 5 different networks for each asset.

OR

Use the Loading Screen Mod's built in ability to recover from simulation errors. It is choice. If you have the means I highly recommend picking it up.

Works great, except when you zoom out the intersections glitches, other than that, great job!

This works great, except for bridges. Then it just glitches. Otherwise, a great asset.

Hi bro, there is a glitch on the junction on this one. The game can't render the Lod properly.

Thanks for the comment. I put it in the small road menu because it's 16M (two tiles) wide. I thought that was a better fit than the medium or large road menus which are all roads wider than that. The NEXT road that this was based on resides in a special "Small Heavy Road" category but I do not know how to access that nor do I necessarily want to because my long term goal is to have a fully independent road set that will allow unsubscribing to NEXT if one so desires.
