I've also pinged Mendasp (author of NS2+) to come take a look. He may have feedback or ask if it can be included in NS2+ (hopefully, but it's up to him).

I agree that "Disabled should be completely disabled". The reason I had edge highlighting even when alien vision is off is because that is how the default alien vision behaves. In fact, the only difference between my shader and the default when off was the color of the edge highlighting. It's off now though, hope nobody minds. If any of the changes do bother people, let me know and I can fork the two versions.
* Increase the distnace between the yellow pulsing lines, basically make it appear to pulse less. It can be distracting especially in long corridors, but otherwise love the effect.
* Remove the green outline from lifeforms and structures when alien vision is disabled. Disabled should be completely disabled.
