How to Get Any Version Gang Beasts

Using a simple technique you can get ANY version of Gang Beasts and learn how to play them online.

Introduction

This Guide will teach you how to get any version of Gang Beasts!

Before we start, you will need:

• Gang Beasts (only the host needs a copy)

For Online with older Gang Beasts versions, please go to parsecgaming.com and download the Parsec application.

Getting Started

To start off, go to steamdb.info in your browser, or click here[steamdb.info]

After you have gone to SteamDB, use the search bar to search up "Gang Beasts"

You should see a page that looks like the following image. Click the AppID "285900"

Click on Depots and then click the ID of the platform you are on.

Choosing your version

Go to Manifests and look at all the versions

​

If you are looking for a specific version based on VersionID, look up the patch notes for that version. Using the date associated with the patch notes, you can search the list and find the ManifestID related to it in SteamDB.

Can't find the version on SteamDB? If anything on the following list applies it may be unavailable:

• Is it unstable?
  Unstable versions have been wiped from the Steam Database, making them unobtainable.
  
• Is from the Online Beta?
  The Online Beta was a totally different AppID, which has now been removed and wiped from the Steam Database. Online Beta versions are unobtainable.
  
• Is there a similar date on the list?
  Patch notes may have been posted a couple of days early or a couple of days late, make sure to check to see if there is anything similar!

If you figured out the ManifestID of your version, you are safe to move onto the next step.

Downloading your version

Now that you have your ManifestID, lets get to work on downloading it.

If you don't already have .NET Core Runtime, get it here:
https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-core/2.0

After you get both the Runtime and SDK, download the Depot Downloader from Github:
https://github.com/SteamRE/DepotDownloader/releases

Extract the Depot Downloader to your preferred location. You will need to be able to remember where this is for the future.

Go into the folder you extracted and copy the location to your clipboard

Open command prompt on your computer. (Press Windows+R and put "cmd" into the run box)

Type "cd (FILE LOCATION)" into the command prompt window.

Now you are in the right location, you can begin inputting the criteria for the version you are going to download.

The criteria quite basically looks like the following:

dotnet depotdownloader.dll -app (AppId) -depot (DepotId) -manifest (ManifestId) -username (YourSteamUsername) -password (YourSteamPassword)

The AppID of Gang Beasts is 285900, the DepotID is different based on platform, and the ManifestID is the one you chose in the previous section.

The DepotID's based on versions are the following:
Windows: 285901
Mac: 285902
Linux: 285903

As an example, if I wanted to download the July 6th, 2017 version of the game for Windows, I would execute the following command:

dotnet depotdownloader.dll -app 285900 -depot 285901 -manifest 7351777280769306781 -username SeniorCaution -password 12345

Once you have gotten the command ready, put it into the command prompt and press enter.

It may ask you for a 2 Factor Authentication code that would be sent to the email connected to your account. If this applies to you please enter the code and press enter.

Once those steps are done, you should see a response that says it is downloading, as showcased in the following image:

Download times can range from 5-10 minutes, during this time you will be disconnected from Steam online services.

After the download completes, the command prompt window will say that the download is completed. You will need to restart Steam in order to get online services back.

Installing your version

Now that you have downloaded the version, lets get to installing it!

Go to the "depots" folder in DepotDownloader and open 285901 and then open file of the version you want to install.

Make sure you already have Gang Beasts installed in Steam and has a white name as shown in the following picture:

Right click on Gang Beasts and click "Properties".

Click "Local Files" and then "Browse Local Files".

​

Select everything in the file and delete it. DO NOT DELETE THE ACTUAL FILE, only it's contents.

Once you do that, drag in the new files from the DepotDownloader.

​

After you do that, go back into your Steam Library and launch the game. It should load up in the downloaded version!
