Basic info about the APC
Before you go blowing anything up, it’s highly recommended to carry a teammate with you to operate the machine gun, your new friend might save your life!

Basic facts about the APC:
Health: 1900 (was 2500 prior to EA17) takes 2 SLAM-R shots to destroy.
Armaments: 1 autocannon 12/infinite rounds, and 1 machine gun 50/infinite rounds. Note: the autocannon deals the lowest damage and have the smallest AOE (area of effect) of all cannons and rockets. This means that near direct or direct hits are required to actually kill infantry. Destroying a simple thing as a quad is also hard, for details see below.
Speed max on flat road and calm water: 60kph land 30 kph water

Fun fact: the reload and shooting sound of the cannon is identical to the sound of the AA unit.
Bots mechanics
After learning about your APC, you need to learn abut your opponent.
applies to all bots
Bots will target on one infantry/vehicle/turret until either destroyed/dead/out of sight. This is the reason why some infantry can walk past you and ignore you. They don't know how to prioritize targets, for now.
Same thing applies to tanks and other APC, when they're shooting other things, they'll ignore you (for details see below).
Against other APCs:
Try to orbit other APC or simply move relative to them, this will make them have a hard time trying to hit you. Hit and run is also recommended. Often, if the difficulty is set to medium, other APCs would ignore you after emptying a few shells into your APC, this time is great for taking them out.
Against attack planes:
Ignore them, they don’t often attack ground targets, this is observed before. In the case of they did attempt to attack your APC, it’s very unlikely they would hit you anyways, as they just tend to squeeze off a few rounds, before pulling up or crashing.
Against bombers:
Ignore them. Bombers also don’t tend to attack APCs, but if they did, it won’t be much trouble, because on land, the APC can easily outrun the bombs, but in water, they often miss or just damage the APC.
Against attack heli:
Heli’s attack pattern is flying up, out of your field of view and range, and then take you out or heavily damaging your APC where you can't fight back. To prevent that from happening, spend all your 12 rounds on that heli, as the explosion would change the heli’s attitude (cause it to roll to one side) and it will fall for around 30 meters, giving you precious time to reload your cannon. Repeat cycle until heli blows up.
Against transport heli:
Ignore it, the minigun can’t heavily damage you, and they don’t like to target APCs anyway, too hard to hit.
Against jeeps:
The small AOE and damage means shooting the hood of the car only changes the jeep’s direction, and the most effective way is to aim at the windshield. This way the explosion can reach whoever’s in the jeep.
Against quads:
No need for direct hit at people in the quad, just hit the quad would do.
Against infantries:
The cannon’s limited depression means that you can’t hit infantries that’s right against your APC, this usually isn’t a problem while travelling, but at a capture point, this is a problem. Driving in circles around the flag would do, or back and forth. Reload only if there aren’t immediate threats in sight.
Against tanks
Tanks are the most dangerous vehicles against APCs, so read carefully!
How to destroy them:
Tanks, like APCs, can get distracted and ignore you while targeting things like infantries, this presents a great chance to target tanks. Empty all 12 rounds into it. When done, find cover. Pop out to see if a tank's targeting you. If yes, go back to cover. If no, shoot. Repeat cycle until a tank's destroyed.
How to evade them:
If you're caught in the open by a tank, drive directly to it, but slightly to it's side. this will give you a high angular momentum (just search it), therefore the turret and cannon shot might not catch up with you. When past the tank, ignore it and keep driving to the nearest cover, then see above to how to destroy it.

IMPORTANT:
sometimes a tank would suddenly target you after ignoring you for some time (always after destroying/killing/something's out of sight), if this is the case, the only way is to RUN. Find cover such as driving over/around a hill, and don't even hesitate driving off a cliff.
Final notes and credits:
Now that you know how to play, why not try them out on one of these custom maps?

APCs are actually pretty OP... never thought new players would need a guide.

You can actually shoot down most vanilla aircrafts with the main gun. On the contrary, APCs are real pains when you fly.

I usually use the smoke to cover myself when reloading. Works pretty well against tanks and other APCs. Just like you said, they will look for other targets once they lost sight of you, and that includes losing sight of you due to smoke.

This really helped me so much!
