The AK-74M was developed in 1987. It is the same as the AKM. It has been produced since 1991. AK-12 is a series of modern assault rifles which have been improved and produced by the Russian Kalashnikov group after receiving the opinions of the Russian army on the common defects of AK gun family. It has been improved since 2010. This is the latest derivative of Russian AK gun family assault rifles, and it is proposed that they may be distributed to every unit of Russian army generally.

Since 1974, the Soviet military proposed to develop new rifles, and the new generation of rifles was named "Abakan plan". Groza is a fully automatic assault rifle in active service in Russia. The gun was developed in the early 1990s by the central design bureau of sport and hunting guns in Tula City, Russia. Tula arsenal is responsible for the production of the gun.

AS VAL was developed in the late 1980s by a research group of the Central Institute of precision mechanical engineering. AS VAL is a weapon with pneumatic principle operation and integrated silencing tube. Its gun body is made of processed steel. The long stroke gas piston system is located above the gun tube and connected to the gun machine. The gun is supplied with 10 or 20 magazines, and will fire at a theoretical rate of 800 - 900 rounds per minute in fully automatic mode.
