Kriel-Beholder (CV Class 7, CPU Tier 4 (Alpha 11.x), Unlock level 25)

Primary roles: Specialized POI Siege ship, mining, storage, farm, crafting, hangar, shield, warp

The Kriel Beholder is a specially designed POI siege ship with some unique features. It is designed to park over ground or space based POI's and take out all of the defenses via 12 atmosphere firing turrets mounted in locations through out the bottom of the ship. In addition to ground turrets it also has 8 sentry guns, many used for drone defense, 2 rocket launchers, 4 pulse launchers, 3 flak guns, 2 Artillery turrets, 6 mining drills, and 2 rocket turrets.

Specialized Features

This ship was specifically designed for ground based POI combat, being able to park directly over most in game POI's and destroy all the defenses via atmospheric firing turrets and sentry guns. For finishing off a POI on the inside it offers 2 spore bays. A spore is a micro SV designed to be able to navigate down standard sized (1 block) hallways to engage the enemies on the inside of base. The ship has 2 of these top mount bays on the bottom of the central mass with easy hangar access. (See Kriel Spore for more info on docking and using these SV's)

General features

The ship has 6x320K storage, 320K harvest storage, 48K ammo storage, and many additional cargo boxes. With heavy lift mode it can easily take off fully loaded on 1 G planets, however could possibly operate on much higher G planets as well. (This needs to be tested yet). It does have a lot of powerful lift thrusters built into all 3 feet.

It also has a 32 grow plot farm, top access hangar, 2 advanced constructors, 3 cooking stations, 3 fridges, T2 Shield, warp, front and rear WiFi, repair bay and console, full med bay with all specialized gear, armor locker and repair, 2 crew rooms (located off main bridge), and ground access door on rear leg.

Offense and Defense

The ship is built with combat steel, offering more protection in places that make the most sense like the some of the underside as well as the siege bridge. Beyond POI ground weapons, it also has a bunch of space launchers and turrets + 6 mining lasers, and 2 retractable multi-turrets. These are engaged by the the bridge control "Harvesters"

6. Shield, warp core, wifi, compartmentalized o2 and stations
7. Standard and heavy lift modes.
8. Top access hangar with a couple bays
9. Med Bay with all specialized equipment
10. 36 Grow plot farm with 2 lane control switches
11. T2 repair bay and console
12. Lots of extra CPU available for whatever you want to add.


Notes: This is the most exotic design I made to date. It was tested in game on actual POI's. For really tough POI's, this may not be enough and hopping into a combat SV to help out is recommended until all enemy defenses are destroyed. If the shield goes down in fight, the ship can take a fair amount of abuse however the best plan would be to take off and get out or range until the shield can again recharge and then re-engage the POI. Again, this is only on tough POI's. Lessor POI's really stand no chance at all and combat should be brief. Using the siege bridge (going up the back elevator) provides a good view of alignment of the ship around a POI and is recommended to use. One last note, if using docked spores, it is highly recommended to keep them turned off until you are ready to use them as the POI will target them in the bays and potentially destroy them.

trying to make this reforged eden capable is a nightmare. had to strip all the guns off and advanced repair bay. And even still with 2.1M max Cpu (weigh/volume ON) It might serve as a base support Cv. Trying to make as many kriel CV's Reforged eden capable. So far got The Kriel Shade and Accipiter Done. Overseer is impossible. xD

I love your creative mind, Jeff, but I can't seem to get your multitool's on the beholder to work as intended. They will not hit the target and I know for sure the target was dead first.

It's good for it's role, but very hard to repair because the ship sits too far above the repair bay and the repair console doesn't detect a ship there. Tried putting just one of the legs on the repair bay but then it says there is an object in the way.
Needs it's own landing platform designed to repair it.
