Greater Anglia Class 150 (Coach 1)

(This reskin is based on the livery carried by Greater Anglia Class 153 and 156 units. No 150's have ever carried the livery in real life)

Greater Anglia is a train operating company in the east of England. It launched in 2012, taking over from the previous holder of the GA franchise - National Express East Anglia. GA's main route is the Great Eastern Mainline, which runs about 168 miles from London Liverpool Street to Norwich. Other routes operated by the company include:

Marks Tey to Sudbury
Colchester to Colchester Town
Colchester to Clacton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze

Norwich to Sheringham
Norwich to Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft

On May 31st 2015, Greater Anglia lost all their east London and Essex commuter services to Transport for London. The lines from Liverpool Street to Chingford, Cheshunt and Enfield Town (plus the unusual Romford to Upminster line) became part of London Overground, while the stopping services along the GEML to Shenfield became the first stage of what will eventually become CrossRail. Currently it runs under the TfL Rail brand.

At the time of uploading, Greater Anglia's fleet comprises mostly diesel and electric multiple units. The only exception are the Class 90 locomotives and Mk3 coaches. These are used exclusively on the London to Norwich service, but not for much longer. They are slowly being replaced by new Class 745 electric multiple units built by Stadler in Switzerland. Currently the Greater Anglia fleet consists of the following units:

Mk3 coaches and DVT (used with the 90's)

DVT is short for Driving Van Trailer. These are essentially just luggage vans with a driver's cab at one end. They allow for the London to Norwich services to be operated in push-pull mode, and the Class 90 locomotive is placed at the London end. This means the driver sits in the DVT's cab on all Norwich-bound runs.

The Class 745 units are purely electric, and are set to replace the Class 90 and Mk3 sets on Norwich to London services. As for the 755's, they are electro-diesel or bi-mode units. This means that they can operate as electric trains with their pantograph. They can also run on non-electrified lines (such as Marks Tey to Sudbury) using on-board diesel engines.

Up until late 2019, the company also operated Class 153, 156 and 170 diesel multiple units. They also hired in Class 37 and 68 locomotives and Mk2 coaches from Direct Rail services, which were used primarily in passenger service on the Wherry Lines - that being the Norwich to Great Yarmouth & Lowestoft route. The bi-mode Class 755 units have now replaced all the diesel multiple units and locomotive-hauled services on Greater Anglia, while the 153's and 170's were transferred to Transport for Wales. As for the nine Class 156 units GA had, they have gone to the East Midlands Railway.

Soon the company will be receiving a fleet of Class 720 units, which are being built by Bombardier Transportation in Derby. The class will eventually comprise twenty-two 10-car units and eighty-nine 5-car units. They are part of the Aventra family, and bare a strong resemblance to the Class 345 and 710 stock. The 720's are set to replace the 317 and 321 units on regional services out of London Liverpool Street.

In real-life no Class 150's have ever carried this livery. One of Greater Anglia's predecessors - Anglia Railways - did run 150's in the Norwich area in the early 2000's. Anglia Railways was actually one of the first private train operating companies in the UK, launching in 1996. They primarily ran the intercity Norwich to London service, as well as the local services in Norfolk.
