Battle for Armageddon is a strategic wargame that simulates the conflict between Orks and the Imperium for control of the Imperial hive world Armageddon.

The war involved tens of millions of combatants and took two decades to resolve. By its end, the lives of countless millions of Ork and Imperial warriors had been lost.

Released in 1992, Battle for Armageddon is (to my knowledge) the first Warhammer 40k game to employ traditional chit-pushing gameplay. It features asymmetrical factions with different win conditions, a few unique elements such as the Strategy Cards, and a straight-forward-yet-involving set of rules with many small, flavorful elements and mechanics that both fit the fiction and make for interesting strategic decisions.

Now comes with the Chaos Attack expansion, with its own set of optional rules, new units and cards for the orks and the imperium, and an entire new Chaos faction with terrifying new mechanics.
