Introduction
Secret Neighbor can be difficult to get the hang of, so this guide will hopefully help you out.
It will cover many different aspects of the game, along with some useful class choices and ways to play.
Choosing a Class (Kid Classes)
The objective of the kid class is to find 6 keys hidden around the house and open the basement door without being caught by the neighbor.

Secret Neighbor has 11 different classes in total (so far), each one having different abilities that make it unique. There are 6 kid classes and 4 neighbor classes.
This section will be about which class you should choose and the abilities that each one has for the kids.

Bagger

The Bagger has 3 abilities.
  • Heavy Bones
  • Strong Knees
  • Backpack
Heavy Bones:
Heavy Bones is an ability which makes the neighbor move slower whenever he is holding a bagger.
Strong Knees
Strong Knees lets the bagger take 20% less fall damage. In reality, the bagger can fall from any height at full health without dying, but be warned this will only work if he is at full health.
Backpack
Backpack means you start the game with an additional inventory slot. Instead of the usual 2 you start with 3. If you keep items in all 3 of those slots for 4 minutes you will also get a fourth slot.

Brave

The Brave has 2 abilities.
  • Baseball
  • Counter-Strike
Baseball
Baseball lets you hit back objects that are thrown at you by pressing Q.

Counter-Strike
Counter-Strike gives you the ability to escape the neighbor's grasp if you have previously hit him 3 times with an object. Beware though, as if you are knocked you will lose this ability till you hit the neighbor another 3 times.

Detective

The Detective has 2 abilities.
  • Field Intel
  • Intuition
Field Intel
Field Intel gives the detective a photograph of the area where one of the keys needed to open the basement is. Keep in mind if you only need blue keys your photos will only show blue keys.
Intuition
Intuition highlights a key anywhere in the house. To activate this you need to have found three keys using field intel and it also is not guaranteed to show a colour of key that is needed for the basement.

Inventor

The Inventor has 3 abilities.
  • Tinker
  • Reverse Engineering
  • Metal Detector
Tinker
Tinker allows the inventor to craft various items using gears found throughout different rooms. The most useful of these is the toy rifle which can insta kill any neighbor or kid. It can be crafted for 8 gears.
Reverse Engineering
Reverse Engineering is an ability which lets you use the neighbor's gates. It is especially useful on map 1, where the map is packed with gates all over the place.
Metal Detector
The metal detector allows the inventor to check if a key, keycard or gear is in a searchable area by holding left click. If any of these are present, the metal detector will turn green and beep.

Leader

The leader has 3 abilities.
  • Inspiration
  • Team Work
  • Stress Resistance
Inspiration
Inspiration gives any kid within a 10 meter radius a speed boost along with giving yourself a speed boost. It can also raise kids who have been knocked.
Team Work
Every second you are near a kid this will charge up. The more kids nearby the more seconds get counted. After 8 minutes when you use inspiration it will temporarily blind the neighbor (if they are in neighbor form) along with giving you the usual speed boost.
Stress Resistance
Stress resistance reduces the amount of time you are stunned for after taking a hit by half.

Scout

The scout has 2 abilities.
  • Slingshot
  • Evasive Maneuvers
Slingshot
The scout always has a slingshot that has 10 nuts as ammo. After running out of ammo these can be refilled with nutbags found around the map in various locations.
Evasive Maneuvers
This gives the scout a speed boost after hitting the neighbor 3 times in a row. It is stackable.

Random Kid

The random kid class will select a random class for you to play as. I would not recommend choosing this until you have gained some experience with all of the classes.

The best class to start with early on in my opinion is the leader or bagger. These are the easiest classes to play to start with as their abilities don't focus very much on combat. Once you've worked on combat a bit, I would start playing inventor and brave and then once you're pretty experienced with the game and know the maps pretty well start on to scout and detective.
Choosing a Class (Neighbor Classes)
The objective of the neighbor is to catch all of the kids.
You can transform around 35 seconds into the game to access your neighbor abilities by pressing 'T'

Stamina

Stamina is a stat that all neighbor classes have. It is what allows them to run and use certain abilities such as the meathook and leap.
It is shown as a lung symbol in the bottom centre of the screen and once depleted, the neighbor cannot use abilities requiring stamina or sprint.

There are four neighbor classes currently in the game:

Neighbor (Generally referred to as "Scary Neighbor")

The Neighbor has 3 abilities.
  • Disguise
  • Hunting Trap
  • Rage
Disguise
Disguise is used to transform into another kid, which can be used to evade suspicion.
Hunting Trap
Hunting Traps can be placed by holding left click after selecting on them. There is a 5 second cooldown between placing traps. Turning off the lights and placing them in front of doors in the basement can be a very effective strategy for catching kids.
Rage
Rage lets the neighbor go temporarily invincible, though it is not long enough to catch a kid in. It can be enough to escape a dangerous situation though. It is triggered after causing or taking enough damage to fill its bar.

Butcher

The butcher has 3 abilities.
  • Meat Hook
  • Pathfinder
  • Fake Crow
Meat Hook
Meat hook is the butcher's most useful ability. If thrown at a kid it will pull them to the neighbor and it can be thrown quite a distance. It can also be used to get objects or open gates from a distance.
(*This uses stamina*)
Pathfinder
Pathfinder creates a blue mist in the area behind where a kid has been. The thicker the mist, the shorter the time since the kid was there.
Fake Crow
After only 2 players remain, a crow will show up and mark the location of a key. This ability is useful as it can create a fake one to lure players of the scent. Be warned though, both crows will be visible if the real one has appeared.

Clown

The clown has 3 abilities.
  • Smoke Bomb
  • Confusion
  • Camouflage
Smoke Bomb
Smoke bomb fills an area with smoke. Any kids who walk in this smoke will be slower and take more damage and it is almost impossible to see through. None of these effects apply to the neighbor.
Confusion
Any kids that are saved before dying will be temporarily blinded.
Camouflage
Camouflage lets the clown transform into an object. You can select which object you want to be by holding in the button.

Ghost

The Ghost has 3 abilities. It is different from any other class by the fact that it has 2 forms. 2 of these abilities can only be accessed in ghost form.
  • Reincarnation
  • Polterlight
  • Portal
Reincarnation
Reincarnation allows the ghost to transform into his ghost form. This allows flight and unlocks all his other abilites.
Polterlight
Polterlight will make all the lights in a certain radius flicker, and will turn half of them off. This is useful as for the ghost to transform back into a physical form, there can be no lights nearby.
Portal
This allows the ghost to go through certain walls as long as they are not too thick. This will be indicated by a blue circle. If you see the blue circle press R to go through the wall.

Guest

The Guest has 3 abilities.
  • Leap
  • Crow Sense
  • Scaring Croak
Leap
The leap ability allows you to jump forward in the air at a very fast rate. It can be used through two different ways. The first of these is by holding the jump button in, either while moving or while standing still. The leap will then be performed when you let go. You can also hold the Q button, and doing a leap this way will allow you to cling to a wall, and do another leap off the wall. (*This will consume stamina*)
Crow Sense
Crow sense allows the guest to spot the locations of kids around the map. Unlike the sonar, it does not track their movements, as they appear on your screen as red dots.
Scaring Croak
Scaring croak will temporarily stun a kid (about the same duration as a scout slingshot hit) and cause them to drop all of their items.

Random Neighbor

Like the random kid, the random neighbor will choose a random neighbor class for you. It is not recommended to do this unless you are bored or have it as one of your daily quests as certain neighbors are more efficient than others.

If you're starting out, I recommend either the Neighbor or the clown. These are the basic neighbors and are the easiest to learn in the beginning. After becoming good with these, advance onto the butcher, and then finally to the ghost and guest, which is the most difficult class to play.
Character Customisation
There are 2 currencies currently in the game.
  • Coins
  • Coupons/Tickets
Coins
Coins can be earned by playing the game. If you win a game as either class you will get a good amount of coins. You can also find coins scattered throughout the maps. Pick these up as they will get you one coin per pickup.

Coins are mainly used to buy individual cosmetics, but a few full skins can be bought using around 2021/2022 coins.

Tickets
Tickets can be earned by completing daily challenges and through purchasing them.
Your daily challenges can be found as an exclamation mark beside the find game button.
They will give you a small amount of tickets each day, so if you're not prepared to buy them you can slowly save these up.

Tickets are mainly used to buy the main skins that come out with each update such as the zombified class skins that came out with the Halloween 2021 update.

Cosmetics serve no purpose except to show off stylish skins in the game.

Treasures
Treasures can be earned by completing various in game events.
The current treasures are:
  • Rocket
  • Hat
  • Weather Station
  • Hamster Ball
  • Lucy's Bracelet
  • Violin
  • Photo
I'm not going to spoil how to get any of these, but if you're struggling to do it yourself search it up on YouTube.
Brawl Modes (Limited Time Modes)
Brawl modes are modes which can be played purely for fun or to practice your skill in certain areas of the game.

The current brawl modes are:
  • Slingshot Wars
  • Prophunt
  • Rifle TvT
  • Race
All of these rotate on a weekly basis.
There has been a snowball fight brawl mode previously in the game and it may return at Christmas time and replace some of these brawl modes.
Level Editor
The level editor can be used to share and create maps made by the community. These can be played in a custom game lobby and will award coins for winning.
When creating maps you can select which mode you want the map to be created for.
You have a choice out of the brawl modes and just the normal experience (enter basement).
Official Maps
There are 5 official maps currently in the quick game rotation. They are as follows:
  • The Neighbor Case (Map 1)
  • Return of the Guest (Map 2)
  • The Space (Map 3) [Used to be called The Storm is Coming]
  • Missing or Wanted (Map 4)
  • Amusement Park (Map 5)
All of these have different layouts and some maps such as map 3 and map 5 are a lot more open and outside.
Personally I prefer maps 1 and 2, as they are the classic maps and the most fun in my opinion.
Useful Information
Bookshelves

Bookshelves can be seen around the map, and if you are the neighbor, you can press 'E' to enter these. They contain the respawn point if you are killed, and also a sonar (A button that when pressed reveals doors and kid locations for a temporary time.

Clocks

Clocks can be seen beside gates, whether these are opened or close. As the neighbor, you have the ability to toggle these gates using the clocks.

Inventors can also use this after collecting 6 gears throughout the map.
Ending Note
I hope this guide was useful to you, and I hope it helped you to get started in Secret Neighbor!
