Using Flash Projector to Play RotMG
由 InsaneFirebat 制作
As an alternative to using a web browser or the Steam client, you can use the stand-alone version of Adobe Flash Player to play Realm of the Mad God. This guide will walk you through the process of setting it up.

RIP Flash
RotMG has recently dropped support for Flash in favor of their new Unity client. This guide is no longer useful. Download the game via Steam and enjoy a much better experience than Flash could ever offer.
(1) Download and install the Adobe Flash projector
Go to Adobe's support website[www.adobe.com] and download the most recent release of the Adobe Flash Player Projector for your system (Windows, Macintosh, or Linux). Currently, the most recent release for Windows and Macintosh is version 11.8 and the most recent Linux release is version 11.2. Follow the instructions from Adobe to install the software. For Windows machines the file is a .exe and needs no installation.
While other Flash Projectors exist, there is no guarantee that they either work or are safe. If someone links you to a projector and the link is pointing anywhere else other than a page on adobe.com, you should not click the link and assume they are attempting to have you install malicious software.
(2a) Find the current location of RotMG
Sorry, I no longer follow development of RotMG so you'll have to find the link using the steps below.

RealmEye.com has made this step extremely simple. Just go to http://www.realmeye.com/appspot and copy the link from your address bar.

Mozilla Firefox

If this link or the link you are currently using stops working you will need to find the new active link to the game. An easy way to do this in Firefox is the following:
1. Navigate to the browser client at realmofthemadgod.com
2. Right click outside of the game client and select "View Page Info"

3. This will bring up a window looking something like:

In this window, click on "Media". Under the "Address" column there should be a url ending in AGCloader followed by a string of numbers and .swf
Copy this address to your clipboard and proceed to the next step.

Google Chrome

If this link or the link you are currently using stops working you will need to find the new active link to the game. An easy way to do this in Chrome is the following:
1. Navigate to the browser client at realmofthemadgod.com
2. Right click outside of the game client and select "View Page Source"

3. This will bring up a window looking something like:

In this window, press Ctrl + F to use the search feature. Type in "AGC" and you will see AGCloader followed by a string of numbers.

4. There are 3 parts to the URL. The first is always "http://www.realmofthemadgod.com/AGCloader" then the numbers, and ending with ".swf"
(2b) Easy way to find the link!
There is also a shortcut to finding the numbers in the new link by visiting http://www.realmofthemadgod.com/version.txt.
Replace the ##########s in the AssembleeGameClient link with the numbers from version.txt
https://realmofthemadgodhrd.appspot.com/AssembleeGameClient##########.swf

RealmEye is practically spoon feeding you with this super easy redirect URL. Just visit http://www.realmeye.com/appspot to automatically be redirected to the current version of RotMG.
(3) Point your flash projector to the game
Open your flash projector and in the top left corner click on "File" and then "Open".

This will bring up a window asking you to provide either a URL or destination for a local file. In the empty "Location" box paste the game link from the previous step.

Press "Ok" and the game should load.

If the projector just returns to an empty white screen after pressing OK then you gave it either an invalid or outdated link to the game. Refer back to the previous step for instructions on finding the current link.
(4) Tips
  • To increase performance and hit detection, click View > Quality > Low.
  • When you use Flash Projector, Ctrl + Alt + Del to open task manager, then set priority of the projector to Realtime or High, that should fix some lagspikes.
  • RealmEye.com now hosts a page that will find the link for you! Check it out here: http://www.realmeye.com/appspot

The "Register/Replace Account" features were broken long ago. Some workarounds were put together by the community, but there's a good chance they don't work anymore since the data migration a couple years ago. I had a guide for it on the forums, but Steam has since blocked the download link used in the workaround.

By the way, do you know how do i register my steam account as a normal account? I'm trying to do it through the game but after filling up the details boxes i click Register and nothing happens...

I've managed to work around it, i went to the realmeye.com/agc page and i saved the .swf file through chrome using Ctrl + S, then i openned it on flash projector, now the game loading screen shows up but it leads me to another error saying "version loading error, retrying..."

Unfortunately, the white screen issue is not something I'm familiar with. Could be an outdated link to the game file, but I don't think the RotMG cursor appeared in that situation.

Rotmg used to work fine but now upon opening the swf link, the flash player gives me a white screen and it stops responding. The weird thing is, when my mouse hovers over flash player, it shows the rotmg cursor. Can you help me?

Alright, thank you anyways.

The game runs in Flash no matter what version you're playing on. I would imagine the Steam version skips the registration process since no email is required when playing on Steam. I don't think I'll be able to help with this problem.

Oh and this doesn't happen on the steam version, so it's gotta be something with the way the game is run on flash

No, the web browser version also has the same problem. I'm pretty sure it's not the registration process that's the problem(I've done it twice with different emails) but rather the game on adobe flash.
