How to slay Midir like a true Chad Dragonslayer: Full Melee, no spells/phantoms
От Sword Brother Alphaeus
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH Midir is impossible to kill!" or "Pestilent mist will destroy Midir for you with no effort." Cut all of that ♥♥♥♥ out, today, I'll be teaching you how to kill Midir like a true (CHAD) Dragonslayer instead of a (virgin) Mage.

Introduction
Yeah, lets get that out of the way now shall we?

I've been through r/summonsign on reddit, I've seen the youtube comments. Left right and center, everyone thinks that this big ol'dragon is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ impossible to fight, because of his huge ass health bar or his high damaging attacks.

What if I told you you have the capability to solo Darkeater Midir on NG+7 as a summon, with NO HELP from the host? What if I told you you too have the capability to solo Midir and do it without even getting scratched, while within Morion Blade and Red Tearstone Ring range?

Today, Papa Leeroy will teach you how to do exactly that in his simple video guide

Killing the Big ol'Abyss Lizard

A couple of notes I should add:

1. When he does his big laser attack, it always starts off in a straight line. Keep to the path I have taken in the video and you should be fine.

Note that his left back leg is the safest spot during this.

2. Any weapon will work for this, just be sure you know exactly how many hits you can risk when you are going for his head. I prefer big weapons myself, as I cannot get used to the short range of smaller/faster weapons.

3. The riposte stage will ONLY happen if you've been consistently hitting his head throughout the fight. If you've been using pestilent mist (LIKE A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CASUL), this will not happen.
Bonus Section: SUNBROING!
Sunbroing Midir is definitely one of my favorite activities. The most rewarding thing is when you manage to solo Midir as a summon, as your host attempts to pick their jaws up from the floor. As I've prefaced before, everyone has the capability to do exactly that.

It isn't that much different from when you are fighting him solo, which is definitely good practice for when you are going to help a host with it eventually as a sunbro. Most of the tips I've given in my video is good for applying in this, though things will change when you are a summon instead of a solo host.

To start it off, Midir's aggro is one of the things you have to learn to manipulate, otherwise it's more likely than not you will either:

A. Die

or

B. Your host dies before you, now he's one ember less, more inclined to go cry on the subreddit that Midir is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ impossible and that he's a ♥♥♥♥ boss.

So how do you stop that from happening?

Equipment
If you wanna be a good sunbro, one of the most important things is looking at your equipment. How comfortable are you in your current gear? Do you know how many hits you can afford using your current weapon? But regardless of what your equipment is, there is a couple of things that I do recommend you to wear or equip:

1. Chloranthy +3
A lot of Midir's combat will be focused on you trying to keep his attention on you and away from your likely squishy host who doesn't know what the hell they are doing. You will need this to keep up your stamina, because the last thing you want is for him to do his deadly apocalypse laser storm and you don't have enough stamina to sprint to him and get to safety.

2. Skull Ring
Hosts are kind of dumb in a lot of the situations in this battle, mostly from that they don't know what to expect from Midir, so your job is to keep Midir from shredding up your host with his attacks that you have learned in my video in the previous section. Skull Ring will help draw his aggro onto you, and more easily kite and manipulate him across the battlefield.

Overall, I personally recommend using a faith build for this situation. Not just because of how lightning is damn good in the hands of a faith build in this fight, but also for situations if your host decides that they want to run face first into Midir's fire and end up coming back out just barely clinging to life and rolling away like Sonic. The Soothing Sunlight miracle that you can acquire from the soul of the Dancer of the Boreal Valley is a very good miracle for this particular situation, especially if you pair it with the Sacred Chime of Filianore that you can acquire from speaking to Shira, Knight of Filianore.

3. Sacred Chime of Filianore
A special thing to take in mind about this chime is that it actually grants the miracles that you cast from it a much bigger range than usual, expanding your capability with the abovementioned miracle, possibly saving your host from an untimely demise if used and timed correctly.

Drawing his aggro
I cannot stress, simply, how many hosts I have seen that have died to Midir because of his aggro. Normally a very fickle thing to the untrained eye, with skill, one can easily manipulate the Dark Dragon and keep him off of the ass of your host.

Skull Ring as I've mentioned is a good tool for keeping his aggro, though a trick to keeping him to you is one slightly more fickle. Midir, as many of the other soulsborne bosses, have a phase where he does his attacks, and then followed by a short period of rest. It is during THIS period that his aggro can switch: keep your eye on your host, because it's very likely that they are hacking away at Midir's legs, so try and get in the last hit on his head to make sure that Midir will remain focused on you instead of the host.

Beating 99% of bosses in Souls Games. Get a high damage weapon, (see any high damage melee build online). Two hand it. Learn your weapon's attack patterns and punishment windows. Learn the boss' attack patterns and punishment windows. Exploit the boss' attack patterns and punishment windows while being mindful of your own attack patterns and punishment windows.

CONGLATURATION ! ! !

I have no problems fighting Midir, or Gael for that matter, when they stay aggro'd on me but when someone else drags him away it throws off my entire rhythm and I get destroyed. Definitely the chloranthy ring, I never take it off. And I would say don't run in there with a slow hitting weapon. Maybe some folks can time it right but I just can't see it working out with anything slower than my trusty longsword, granted I only ever use the longsword. And sunlight spells in my experience do nothing substantial even with rings on. Did not know that about the skull ring though, that'll definitely be useful when my host is running in circles in a corner doing nothing and still manages to draw more attention than me and then dies in one hit.

The best advice I've seen on here is the aggro
Too many times do I get summoned and start mashing Midir's face in only to have the host get fried behind me

You are the least Leeroy sounding Paladin I have ever heard.
