★CallMeGhost★™
Hello, I am ★CallMeGhost★™. I just go by Ghost for short, and this is my Chapter.
1) Can you tell us about yourself?

I've been making gmod art for awhile now, but around last year was when I really got back into making art. Since around 2014 or 15, I was making short and fun artworks, but weren't as good back then, because I didn't know all the things I could do. So then eventually, I backed off on gmod art and just played games. Around August of 2019 was when I got back into it, learned how to pose properly, make scenery, editing, etc. but I think I need to keep working on those things and get better at it. There's always room for me to improve.

2) Why do you make artworks?

I make artworks, because I feel it's something I'm good at doing. I would use SFM, but it's too "complex" for me. Probably could of had a better word to describe it, but it's whatever. I do it to make myself feel better about myself when things aren't going well. When I have no ideas, I just make little artworks that may bring a smile or giggle to me and maybe others.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?

On that August when I came back making art, I seen more and more people making art in gmod, looking way better than before. So I thought I can do the same thing instead of using SFM. I just make whatever is on my mind, let my imagination play around.

4) How long have you been making artworks?

I've made artworks since 2014, but I've deleted most of the old posts I've made to not look bad, because they weren't very good. Then I came back to doing artworks in gmod in August of 2019.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?

I use an editor in my browser that runs on flash called IPiccy, but I'm starting to think I should switch the Gimp, since flash won't be available on December of this year.

6) What do you like the most about making art?

It can show you what you're capable of doing in gmod. It shows how creative you can get. It can maybe show emotion to others, depending on what the scene is. It can bring back memories of friends that you've hanged out with for a long time. Making art can let your imagination act like a playground, just making whatever you can think of.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?

You need a lot of patience with making artwork. It can be frustrating trying to pose a ragdoll in a pose you want it to be in, but you can't seem to get it in the position you want it in. It's also quite hard to come up with ideas on what to make that no one else or a few people ever come up with. In the end, you'll overcome these problems with solutions of your own.

8) What are you planning for the future?

I plan to get a high paying job in computer engineering, however I won't give up on gmod artwork. I may also plan on doing animations once I learn the basics of animating. I'm still in high school, so I got a long way for getting that degree for computer engineering.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

My favorite artwork is anything I make. No matter how good or bad it is, I love all the artwork I do. There's all signs of progression for me. So I really don't have a huge favorite one, but i'll tend to have a huge favorite.

10) People you'd like to thank?

I'll like to thank Flanny and Timmy for getting me more dragged into making gmod art. They didn't tell me to do better, they just simply made more artwork, and it inspired me. Timmy(someone not in this guide) did move to SFM eventually, but he still inspired me by making the artwork he makes today.

11) Any tips for beginners?

Experiment with the tools you have, and think what you can improve on. The more you experiment, the better you'll get better at something, whatever you're experimenting on. If you're stuck on something, ask for some help. It doesn't hurt asking for help, or there's always tutorials for whatever you stuck on. Trust me. I had to search tutorials many times. There's always room to improve in something, no matter what it is.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?

I'll be glad to do any collaborations with anyone. Just as long as I know what I'm supposed to be making and have the mods for it. Just message me to request anything. :)

1) Can you tell us about yourself?

Hey, I'm daizuke and i'm from Argentina, i'm 15 years old and since last year I have been focusing seriously on making artworks and posters.

2) Why do you make artworks?

I think it comes from birth, wanting to create my own sequences with my own stories in mind is something I did frequently as a child. now I don't place so much emphasis on stories but on "photography".

4) How long have you been making artworks?

Since 2017 playing it illegally and since 2019 when I bought it

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Only Garry's Mod.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
Good Question.

For me the Garry's Mod or even Source Filmaker serves as a therapy, a way to de-stress illustrating an image of your mind on a poster is something that helps me relax.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
The damn bones that sometimes limit what I want to do

8) What are you planning for the future?
I'm not thinking about the future. But I definitely can't imagine continuing to use gmod in a couple of years.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

10) People you'd like to thank?
Yeah, I would like to thank Lazy Dude
for advising and guiding me to improve.

11) Any tips for beginners?
Don't force yourself to make posters if you're not motivated to make one do not do it.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?

1) Can you tell us about yourself?

Profile: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198332356366/

Well, I'm pretty newish to the Gmod scene, only doing it for around 2 years with only a simple goal in mind and that is to make people happy with my artwork. I'd say my age but that's kinda private etc I live in the small country of Newzealand that is not the Hobbit place..

2) Why do you make artworks?
Because I love to make artwork that makes me feel important and when people leave a like I get the warm feeling the world still has a pocket of space for the weeaboo who like Neptunia.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
Dr. Gordon Freeman PHDs artworks.. that dude has like all the stuff that originally inspired me to do these and there's a lot I really like such as say.. video game things like half-life with the jalopy, there is no artwork of that car..? You can make it-! Then from that, you get the inspiration to make more and more.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
Since the 5th of February 2018 and I'm clocking in almost 4000 hours in this game (Can't tell if that's amateur hours lol)

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Just Gmod and the post-processing in it with a bit of Paint3D for text and my watermark as I have no clue how to use GIMP and I am not paying for photoshop.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
That I can express myself to other people all across the world and hopefully make a career out of it as maybe it could be a good idea-!

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Probably when I'm halfway through making one then all motive to do the picture flies out the window and into ash like the Delorean

8) What are you planning for the future?
Honestly... become either a professional chef or a digital artist and trust me... I will kill for meatballs... I smell them mate.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
The artwork that's my favorite would be the one I named "Relaxing In The Aran Valley" that
I experimented with using god rays.

10) People you'd like to thank?
Obviously the man who got me this opportunity Intruso. Thanks dude ^-^
Marina... The one who also got me into making artwork (Mostly the Neptunia things)
Dr. Gordon Freeman.Ph.D. for originally sparking my curiosity to do this and where I am today.

11) Any tips for beginners?
Just experiment, once you do that you would be able to grow better and better-!
also just because people hate on your artwork and say racist or horrible things don't let that harm your artworks, just keep going.
12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
So there is this scientist, right? And the dudes a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ genius. I’m talking different dimension destroying genius aight. But this guy, THIS ♥♥♥♥♥♥ GUY, decides “eh, ♥♥♥♥ it I’m bored” and he turns himself into the most outrageous thing! Smartass dude turns himself into a pickle! A ♥♥♥♥♥♥ PICKLE. 1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Greetings amigos.. I'm a gmodder from this community who likes to make anime images mainly from Hyperdimension Neptunia (I know I'm a weeaboo but I don't care about that) and I also like to make images that have to do with Mafia and other things and I already have a couple of years making images in gmod
2) Why do you make artworks?
Because I have a lot of fun making these artworks and love too much Garry's Mod.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
I see movies or TV series and also a lot of anime and that's where I get references to make my images.

4) How long have you been making artworks?

If I remember correctly at the beginning of 2017.. Amigo (I clarify that I have the gmod since 2013 when I bought it together with Counter Strike Source .. but it was at the beginning of 2017 that I started making images)
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1728024072
5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Obviously Garry's Mod and a little Photoshop to make some details in the images.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
I can express what I feel and I like that.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Mind block.. and if it's not the mind blocks.. then it's the random gmod crashes

8) What are you planning for the future?
I honestly don't know ... but I would like to do more artwork but that will be decided by the future.

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Hello everybody. My name is Michael Drake and I am from Russia. I am always kind and try to help people as much as possible. Sometimes I’m very shy and because of this I’m afraid to communicate with people, but it happened and I’m such a person 😅

2) Why do you make artworks?
I just love to do work. It brings aesthetic pleasure and to some extent I think it's cool!

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
3 years ago, I accidentally saw a video on YouTube that showed how you can make a good screenshot using a model and lamps. After watching the video, I went into the Gariss mod and just tried to do the job and I thought: Maybe I will have something good.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
If this is a full-fledged scenebuilding, then the time can take from 10 hours to a week. But if the work is too simple, it generally takes 40 minutes.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Most often I use Photoshop, but lately I do not have time to do photo processing and use a mobile application: PicsArt.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
Most of all I like the creation process itself. More often than not, I don’t think about the scene early and start to think up everything along the way. It gives unlimited scope for creating work.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Sometimes I get very frightened when I can’t find the model I need and it can take a lot of time to find it, which I could spend with good.

8) What are you planning for the future?
I intend to make scene builds on a large scale or maybe even create animations.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1993029649
This is my favourite artwork

10) People you'd like to thank?
I want to thank Putison and Pentius for their faith and support

11) Any tips for beginners?
if you think that your work sucks put aside this opinion and continue to work. Everything is just beginning for you.

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Hello! I'm Aeropinz. A Gmodder who likes helping and hanging out with other artists in the community. Huge fan of Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2 and a big chunk of my artwork is based around those two franchises.

2) Why do you make artworks?
I've been interested in 3D artwork and animation since I first discovered the internet. Whether it be from movies, video games, or from talented people on youtube.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
I've seen Garry's Mod videos all over youtube, they made me laugh and inspired me to make my own animation (which is funny cause I've never made an animation in my life). So when I created my Steam account, one of the first games I bought was Garry's Mod.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
I've started making actual artwork around late 2015. At first, I was pretty nervous sharing my art cause I knew it wasn't good. I used this as practice and self taught myself how to improve my lighting, posing, and camera positioning. Down below was one of my first screenshots that I actually shared on my account.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Just photoshop in most cases, some of my artwork is solely from Gmod with little editing.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
I always thought making artwork with music on in the background was a very relaxing part of the day. That and impressing buddies with what my little noggin can come up with. I don't know why but the tiniest things like people complimenting me on the stuff I would make would always make my day.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Coming up with new ideas has always been a struggle to me. Sometimes the idea that I had going on in my head doesn't go the way I planned and that poster just becomes part of the scrapped pictures that I'll never finish.

8) What are you planning for the future?
Not too much I'm looking forward to in the future. Just improving my artwork and just maybe in the future, I can actually start making animation like I intended.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
There's a few I got lying around. Here's some of my personal favorites. (In no particular order)

10) People you'd like to thank?
My son, IrRock

Me and IrRock have known each other since 2016 and he's probably one of the closest friend that I have on Steam. We met in a TF2 Casual match (you know, back before Casual went to ♥♥♥♥) and after some talking we found out we were both Gmod artists.Years later and we're still buddies. I recommend going to his profile and checking out some of his posters too. They're pretty top notch.

11) Any tips for beginners?

Do whatever the ♥♥♥♥ you want.
Well, let me be more clear. Don't be like how I use to be and don't post your artwork because of what others may think. Even professionals ♥♥♥♥ up every once in a while.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
If you took the time out of your day to read my section, then you're a beautiful person and I hope you have a very Groovy day.

10) People you'd like to thank?
olmate, canadaball, the dude, codi, gaz, matt, tesser, haupt, ging, lemon, borland, ivan, deep, arsen paz, piggo, sprite, gaz, chig, jorgelitis, bill, and more
also SAC and SAM

lighting this:

11) Any tips for beginners?
don't ask for models, it'll annoy the artist and you only lower your chance of getting them. for starting with lighting, start out with default lamps, then move onto soft lamps. don't stay too long on default ones, they're only training wheels for how to pose and move lamps etc

just dont ask for model

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
avoid aheago. he's an actual legit pedophile and he'll come back with aliases every once in a while too. we've dealt with him before, and he's an issue. just, try to avoid him if you see him, he'll try playing it down just ask others who've run into him

My profile - https://steamcommunity.com/id/AGoJyt

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
I'm Danish and am a huge otaku. I mainly play GTFO at the moment.

I bet I have more crates in my backpack than you.

2) Why do you make artworks?
Because I like seeing my imagination visualized.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
My Brother showed me some funny GMod videos, which I thought was just Team Fortress 2.
It was a little weird to play TF2 and not be a Spy-head dispenser on gm_bigcity, but I loved it all the same. I did want that wacky stuff though, so I got into Garry's Mod after when I learned that's where it all was!

4) How long have you been making artworks?
I've been doing this since 2011.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Garry's Mod, Paint.NET, Microsoft Paint, and Photoshop

6) What do you like the most about making art?
Putting on Daft Punk and posing in the early hours of the morning. That's some relaxing, nostalgic stuff right there.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Having an idea that just doesn't turn out how I pictured it. Be it the map doesn't exist, it would be better as an animation, or just lack of motivation. -- Oh, and finger posing.

8) What are you planning for the future?
SFM animation!
I've had too many ideas that don't work in images or comics, they need sound or motion.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
Most of what I've made was deleted with my old DeviantART account back in 2015. So, needless to say I don't have much left, as I haven't made too many posters since my return.

Here are a few things I had on my new dA though:

10) People you'd like to thank?
My Brother for showing me Team Fortress 2 and Garry's Mod.

SimplySuper, David the Coffee Craver, Phe, Le Shifty, Commander Pink, and Doctor Strange for being cool friends.

11) Any tips for beginners?
F I N G E R T I P S .

If you go to this location and open up "fingervar.lua" you can edit how much you're able to move fingers with your finger poser tool!

Location: Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\lua\vgui\fingervar.lua

  • If you change:
local MAX_ANGLE_X = 100
local MAX_ANGLE_Y = 100

  • To:
local MAX_ANGLE_X = 120
local MAX_ANGLE_Y = 120

You can make your fists more closed and add more range to posing.
Hope this helps!

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?

Okay, listen up.

I've been searching years for the map "Achievement_Factory", any version of it.
I'm borderline willing to pay for it at this point.

If you have it, PLEASE, come to me.

Antloin
Hello there! I am Antloin, I make Garry's Mod posters whenever I want but not a lot of them and not really often. I am what you would consider a "medium level" GMod poster creator, with a medium knowledge on how to make a poster in GMod, but I am really stupid with Photoshop and I don't really know how it works, but I know good enough to use it at somepoint. Anyways, let's get onto the questions

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
There isn't much that I can tell you about myself, other than that I am playing lots of videogames and generally messing around. I got into Garry's Mod poster making at around 2016, and this was my first poster ever created: Oops, I don't have it saved. But picture this; A TF2 map, with a bunch of BLU Engineers sitting around the turrets in the most messed up poses ever, it's as if they were barely even touched by a physgun lol. But I did it for the first time, and having no idea where to look for feedback, I just posted it on Steam Screenshots only for me to delete it years later, why, I don't know. :/

But this is the oldest poster I have saved, and I remember this is the one that I posted in Facepunch forums asking for criticism, boy did I have to learn so much.
https://i.imgur.com/WILYu3x.jpg

2) Why do you make artworks?
Usually I make them simply because I was inspired from an idea, book, movie, game, anything really, to make the poster, polish it and look at my proud work. It's results are what really satisfy me, after hours of working and suffering from Garry's Mod's limits, I have finally made it. Even though, sometimes the idea of a poster I have in my mind does not match the final results, but that's just part of the nature of making posters, something always isn't enough, but in the end you're tired of constantly adding more to the poster, even though it's unnecessary and looks great. Then you post it somewhere, look for criticism and feedback, listen to it and enjoy it and then go on the rest of your day. Might as well as flex it to your friends lol.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
Good question. I don't know what really sparked my interest to start making the artworks, even if you certainly don't have a skill for it. I'd say that I thought I could easily do it, got some criticism, held onto it and kept improving to this very moment

4) How long have you been making artworks?
While yes, I've been making posters for quite a while, I don't create them very often. Even if you were to gather all of my artworks since the beginning, it would be quite a small amount for a poster-maker like me, who started from 2016. I am quite a lazy artist.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
When I was just starting, I used 'paint.net', it's a very good initiative and a foundation for the beginner when it comes to a program to enhance and improve their artwork. I used it for a year or so, before starting to slowly use Photoshop, but I still need paint.net because of it's simplicity and not requiring a complex set of knowledge to use it. I've recently started using Photoshop most of the time, but paint.net will be my backbone if PS isn't available. It's a very good program, trust me.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
As mentioned earlier, it's results and feelings of finishing making one is what really gets me. It's satisfying and really cool to look at your work. Same stuff could be said about every hobby and real-life work.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
How painful Garry's Mod can be, let me give you a list of what it can give you if you make a mistake:

- Crashing
- FPS Doom
- Lighting (It's hard to work with, but worth it)
- Sometimes forgetting to Save and again, crashing.

There is definitely more to the list, but it's a minor inconvenience and I still hate it.

8) What are you planning for the future?
I don't really know, but GMod poster-making is definitely not in the plans of my life. It's just a great way to kill your time and learn to actually improve in something, and be proud of the work you've done at the end of it.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
Oh boy, buckle up. I will start from old to new.

https://i.imgur.com/8eWc0BG.jpg

You can see how I progress throughout the time, both in terms of lighting, posing and camera positioning.

10) People you'd like to thank?
I'd like to thank the majority of Garry's Mod artists community, they are always willing to help and give you a constructive and a helpful criticism of your artwork. The most experienced and helpful artists of GMod are;

- Danny (https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198042230203)
- Piggo (https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198036943222)
- Vioxtar (https://steamcommunity.com/id/Vioxtar)

And many more that have given me and the others criticism required. These three are the kings at making posters!

11) Any tips for beginners?
Listen to the community when they're giving you a feedback, criticism and advices. You really need to learn how to listen to the people and properly take the criticism needed for you to continue improving. It's required in your life. If you're going to refuse to accept any proper criticism and be mad at them for it, then you'll just never, or barely get better at anything, you probably won't have any friends too. Don't take criticism as an insult to you and your work, unless they're really calling for it and are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on you.

Use the tools as adviced, even if its hard to (Such as soft lamps and photoshop), you will always start on something to learn something hard, but get better with it over time.

Listen to this when making posters, or extremely bored in a boring environment. In general, when it comes to building a scene for your poster, you always get bored, so open up a browser and listen to songs or YT videos or your favorite streamers.

See ya.

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
My DeviantArt[www.deviantart.com]

Hello, the name's AwesomeSuperSonic but you can call me Awesome or Sonic for short. I started making Gmod artworks mid 2013 after I found out how to upload screenshots to the community. In 2015 I had encounter a bug that stopped me from making artworks in Gmod which made me move over to SFM to make artworks. The bug was fixed just in a couple of weeks thanks to an old friend of mine who figured out how to solve the bug, but now I have this curse to make artworks in SFM. Although this hasn't stopped me from using Gmod every now and then.

2) Why do you make artworks?
Making artworks is a lot of fun, it was something I didn't think I had talent in. So many Gmod and SFM artists have inspired me and I hope to inspire many other artists who decide to make art in Gmod or SFM.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
A lot of Gmod animations back in Gmod 12 and the screenshots that were made by the community, especially all the goofy ones. (Screenshots that were kinda like these.)

4) How long have you been making artworks?
I posted my first ever Gmod screenshot back in June of 2013, so atleast six years.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=153730485

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Garry's Mod and Source Filmmaker are what I use the most when it comes to making artworks, Photoshop is what I use to edit.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
Doing the lighting, seeing how much I have improved, and the finished result of the artwork.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
The program crashing, trying to get a pose to look right, coming up with ideas that don't work as you thought they would, and sense I have the SFM curse I will accidentally hit "Ctrl + Z" to like undo a pose I had but all that does is remove something already in the map or worse remove the model that I spent time posing.

8) What are you planning for the future?
I'm hoping that in the future I do animation, and maybe improve my drawing skills.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
Probably my most recent one, I managed to make a decent running pose for Sonic.

10) People you'd like to thank?
-kitty0706, DasBoSchitt, and Dr. Face: If it wasn't for these guys and their work I probably wouldn't be making artworks in Gmod or SFM, heck I probably wouldn't even know what Gmod was and why it's so important to everyone in this community.

-Coolest Luigi, Quickest Mario, ShadowLuigi37, Greenist Fox, and FosterBonnie: As much as these aren't their usernames anymore, I still remember them by heart. I can not forget all the fun times we had, all the chats, sending our artworks back in fourth to one another, as well as some ideas that we came up with. Thank you guys!

-Intruso: For having me be part of this guide, I was happy to help.

11) Any tips for beginners?
I would recommend that you would look up some guides here in this community, there are tons of useful information stored in them. I also recommend that you take your time on posing, it's one of the most important things when it comes to making artworks and you will be pleased will the final result.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
When you start making artworks, just follow what your gut says and what direction it wants to go with your artworks. It's better to make art that you enjoy making then just making art that you don't like making.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?

CalTheSpy
1) Can you tell us about yourself?

My name is Callum, A.K.A CalTheSpy. I've been making Garry's Mod art for a good few years now, and while I don't think I'm the greatest at it, I certainly am very proud of the artwork that I create.

I have my own channel where I create stop-motion videos in Garry's Mod, and am putting together and continuing to work on and improve my own TF2-themed universe called "The Atherian Knights", which is the universe in which my main TF2 and Steam persona, CalTheSpy, lives in.

2) Why do you make artworks?

I make art for a lot of reasons. I make art to make people happy, for friends that I like or for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles most of the time. One of the main reasons I make art is to sometimes use it to try to develop and flesh out the characters of The Atherian Knights series as well as explore some of the scenes and scenarios that I've put together for the universe. But mainly, I do it just to have fun.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?

I think it flows back to when I first discovered Team Fortress 2 through a Sonic YTP, which had clips from Meet The Sniper in it. After that, I first discovered TF2 and had to wait a few years until I was considered old enough for my parents to let me set up a Steam account so that I could play it.

When I first joined Steam, I also noticed a lot of people there used and had their own custom TF2 themed personas, and I wanted to create my own so I could join it alongside the others. So I bought Garry's Mod and when I first made the CalTheSpy loadout and persona, it was one of the first times I made a piece of art in the program and I got inspired to make more art themed around the character. And from there, it really just snowballed into what it is today.

4) How long have you been making artworks?

I have been making art for a good few years or so. My first ever picture was back in 2013 so it's been about seven years or so. And not only have I gone through a lot of changes since then, but my art in general has also changed, adapted and evolved since then.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?

I don't often use any other programs for my art. But when I have to, say, add text or spruce it up a little bit more, I use GIMP to edit my pictures and add text to certain pieces of art that require them. In addition, in-game, the Stop-Motion Helper addon can be quite helpful in making art, comic strips and animations as it allows frame-by-frame posing.

6) What do you like the most about making art?

I enjoy the creative freedom, expressing myself, my characters and my ideas though my work. I like using my art to try and expand the Atherian Knight series as well as designing new characters and ideas for that series with it. I enjoy seeing people excited to see my work and the things I do with it, and sometimes, with their own characters should I have the opportunity to work with them.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?

It's often quite tiresome, not to mention putting in the effort into details such as character styles, poses, and designs can be quite tiresome. In addition, crashes can be very frustrating to deal with, especially during times such as when the game crashes whilst in the middle of saving or putting together a animation. While I haven't experienced these problems after my move to a PC, they were the bane of my existence for ages whilst I was playing on a MacBook.

8) What are you planning for the future?

I plan to continue not just making more art based around the Atherian Knights series and the various characters in it, but also start fleshing the series out in depth for those who are interested, but who can't get much of the story out of the small various pieces of art I make about it.

I also plan to, down the line, work on some more GMod based animations that can be found at my Youtube channel, which can be found on a link on my profiles info-box. I feel as if I've neglected the channel as of late and want to rebuild my focus into making them a little bit as well.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

I have a lot of art I love, and it'd take me too long to list out all of the various pictures and why I like each of them so much. So I'll focus on this one. It's my most recent picture, but I'm still really proud of how this one turned out due to personal reasons.

This picture is based around a specific scene from The Atherian Knights series and a remake of a older picture of the same scene I did back in 2017. I am really happy with the amount of effort I put into this picture as compared to my other picture. It really shows the level of improvement I've made, which is why I like it so much.

Here are a couple of other favourites of mine:

10) People you'd like to thank?

Christina Nellis, SuperMeeM2002, Waails, MeeMFromHH, Linkabell, The Freakin' Scout's A Spy, LFD2Fan13, Chips, Dojin, Sir Jinny, Rippy, PJwrox, Fawn, Dusksanders, Dagu, Yakuza Merkitzi, Lena, Adz, Blasteroid, Johnny, Modaltib, Rippy, Sage J. Fox, SpookySpark, ZeqMacaw and all the members of both the Steam and Dapper Star communities, for encouraging, inspiring and helping me to keep creating and improving not just my art, but myself as a person.

11) Any tips for beginners?

Don't be discouraged. Making GMod art is certainly never easy. It takes a lot of time, practice and effort in order to get it right. But you can never succeed unless you try. In addition, do not be afraid of constructive criticism, or criticism in general. If you can't accept criticism, then you will struggle.

And don't be afraid to try new things. Play around with your lighting in a picture, try out new camera angles, experiment with your picture in Gimp to make it look better, try specific poses and do some research online on how to portray characters in certain moods, etc.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?

Remember never to give up. Your art may turn out crappy on some days and you may struggle to get it right, but no-body gets good overnight. But it takes a lot of dedication, skill and effort into making amazing art. Just keep at it, keep trying and don't give up.

And people may mock or criticize you for what you make. And again, while you should always be mindful of constructive criticism, don't let their criticism get you down or make you want to stop. If doing Garry's Mod art is what you enjoy doing, then keep practicing and continue to improve!

I'm a 16 year old dude who has ADHD. I'm living with in a big family where most of siblings

2) Why do you make artworks?
I make artworks because it's like a stepping stone to start an art business, like doing Commissions and all that. It was kinda like a goal for me. My goal is to make my first Commission, receive my first money and probably use it to support my family or donate it to charity.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
Back on somewhere around June 2019, I remember making this first posing screenshot.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
I have been making my artworks since June 2019. I have some artworks that I made but were not released to public because they don't really seem to fit the way I make my artworks these days and some are only for personal. But if you guys wanna see it (only non-personal) you can ask me on Steam or DeviantART.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Garry's Mod and Medibang Paint.

What I like the most about making art is that it makes me more productive and it also serves as a relaxing hobby for me at home. Although I have so many younger siblings.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Ah yes, I have faced something like this before. There was one situation when I was making a Scenebuild, I think. So after about 4 hours of putting the props including on planning putting props for the Black Mesa Gargantua, a sudden crash occured and I progress wasn't saved.

I was frustrated when that happened as I spent so much time placing the props, ragdolls and including the skybox.

After about several minutes, I got back on track and started to redo the work.

After 3 hours, here was the result:
8) What are you planning for the future?

11) Any tips for beginners?
If any beginners would want to make their first posing scene, tips that could make your scene look simply good is by using the Lamp Tool and the Post Process Menu. Lamps will always give the atmosphere of your scene and the more you experiment with it, the better your scene will look but also make sure that the Lamps are adjusted at the right setting.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Don't be afraid to show your talents, don't even compare your art with the professionals although your art is already good enough. Also remember that some people may not have legs, or arms, or even both. So please, Be grateful.
Commander-Pink

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
The name's Commander-Pink (formerly known as ❤✿LittleMegaRainbow✿❤)! I make traditional art, digital art, I do cosplay, and of course, I do artwork using Garry's Mod. I'm a no good young'n just trying to get along in life, y'know? I'm not the most talkative person, and I try not to get in people's way or bother them about much.
A favorite quote of mine is from one of my favorite game series, MGS :
“No one quite knows who or what they are.” ~ Solid Snake
(Also, no, the MGS character to the right of this isn't Solid Snake, that's Venom/Punished Snake :D )
2) Why do you make artworks?
I enjoy creating art in general. It's always been a great pleasure to do so. Is it the easiest thing in the world? Nah, but does that really matter or stop anyone? Nope. It's a thing that anyone from any age can do if they set their mind to it. Seeing the finished product is also always exciting, not to mention the support one can get from it. I'm not talking about fame, I don't care too much for that, I'm talking support from friends, family, and the people that take the time to look at and talk about my work. It's an honor, even if my art is simply hanging on a family member's fridge.
3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
I've always been a pretty artistic person. I've made art for as long as I can remember. What inspired me to make Garry's Mod artwork, however, would be my brother and a friend named Kchypark. My brother used to make Garry's Mod posters and I would be utterly amazed at what one could make in a program like it. Kchypark made stunning art, and some of my favorite Garry's Mod photos to date. I just couldn't resist not trying it out!
๖SadSeals๖
Kchypark
4) How long have you been making artworks?
I've been making art for as long as I can remember. I've been making Garry's Mod posters, however, for around... five and a half years? It's always fun to go back and reminisce about the things I used to make. It's always good to also try and remake art from your earliest years using the engine as it allows you to see how much you've improved.
5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
I don't usually edit my posters in post, but when I do it's either in the program I use for digital drawings, Autodesk Sketchbook, or an online Photoshop clone, such as Pixlr X.
6) What do you like the most about making art?
I enjoy how I can express myself freely through my works. Art can also sometimes be an escape from my everyday life. I can express my emotions, my interests and all and all create something I might be proud of for years to come.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Competition. The art world's full of it. It can be a blessing, and a curse. On one hand, it urges one to improve and can benefit several things, on the other hand it can be destructive and make an artist genuinely hate their own art. Whether this is just a mental competition in one's mind or a genuine one, it's pretty crap. There's also the lingering fear that you're not good enough, so yeah.
8) What are you planning for the future?
Keep doing good in school and keep drawing and improving on my art. I'm still a kid and there's a lot art-wise I'm looking forward to.
9) Favourite artwork you've made?
I have a few pieces, but I'll narrow it down to one -

This was made when i got my new laptop.
10) People you'd like to thank?
My brother (๖SadSeals๖) - You've always been supportive of my interests and always encouraged me to do great. You are an amazing sibling and life would be pretty crap without you.

Kchypark - A good friend, an amazing role model, and an all around cool guy. You're art is amazing and was a huge inspiration for me.

Slifer - One of my greatest friends. You're highly supportive of me and my knack for art. It's always a pleasure to hang around with you.

Immanuel - My first internet friend ever. How can I not thank you for what a great friend you are. It was always a pleasure sending artwork back and forth to each other, and sharing laughs with one another from time to time.

AGoJyt, Simply Super, Mercer, Le Shifty, Doctor Strange, and others - "You're pretty good". Haha, but in all seriousness, you guys are great. Great friends, great artists, cool dudes. It's like a big ol' second family of mine. Thank you all.

School friends and teachers - All of you have gotten me so far in my artistic passion. Not a single one of you has discouraged me from doing what I truly want to do in life, and for the most part I know you all got my back.
11) Any tips for beginners?
I'm not really one for advice all the time, I myself am still learning and growing. However, here's a good ol' speech from Ziggy himself -
“Never work for other people at what you do. Always remember that the reason that you initially started working was that there was something inside yourself that you felt that if you could manifest it in some way, you would understand more about yourself or how you coexist with the rest of society.

I think it’s terribly dangerous for an artist to fulfill other people’s expectations. I think they generally produce their worst work when they do that.

And the other thing I would say is that if you feel safe in the area you’re working in, you’re not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in. Go a little out of your depth, and when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting.”
~ David Bowie
12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Don't stress out about "not being good enough" because there's always room for improvement. A savant in the art field isn't born over night, and whoever thinks that is the case is ignorant. Make art on your own terms and try not to feel forced to make it.

2) Why do you make artworks?
For fun, and also to kill some boredomness, i also want to show my gmodding skill to the community, and i tried to break the boundaries of ordinary standard gmod pic nowadays (War scene especially, no offense) I think it so fun to arrange the ragdoll to do something cool, and of course it took times to do it

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
No idea, but after looking at gmod vids and gmod pic in the community, i'm getting interested and wanted to that stuff by my own, (Not for the videos)

4) How long have you been making artworks?
My first picture of gmod was taken at 2014, that's mean i already been in gmod for 6 years, but take a note that this is my new account, my old account got hacked because of the stupid 'accidentally reported' scam, that's mean i have to start over again to upload my artwork

This is my first picture i said before

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Gmod of course, and Paint.net for editing (Not always)

6) What do you like the most about making art?
Putting those ragdoll one by one, and arrange it to do something

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Getting distracted by killing some npc and testing my fav SWEPs, also accidentaly press Window's button while gmodding

8) What are you planning for the future?
(Currently under rework)

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
Taken from my old acc

10) People you'd like to thank?

11) Any tips for beginners?
Have fun and get some experimenting your stuff, if you always thinking about number of likes on your work (Like me) Just do it! Even it would flop, but that doesn't matter, at least you could having fun with that, (Especially for smaller gmodder)

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Feel free to add me, bcs i need more friends on steam, since i lost my original acc, my gmod pic kinda flopped, and if you were Asian, i think we could play tf2 together.
Cyntruso
My Steam Profile
My Deviantart Profile[www.deviantart.com]
1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Heyo, my name is Cyntruso or Cynt and I'm a Gmod and SFM artist. I'm from Malaysia and a guy with lack of talking and more on thinking, I've been trying to improve my social skills at this point but it's gonna take a long time.

There isn't much about myself but I'm a damn drinker and uh... good guy with lots of patience. I'm unemployed and often sleeps on the floor due to bed size and my brother is always sleeping there but I quite enjoy it. Sometimes, I could be an advice giver or a critic. So yeah, that's me I guess?

1.5) Why your name is almost similar to Intruso?
About my name, don't get confused with my name and Intruso. Sure we share similarity and all but I'm pretty sure we got our names in a different way. So let's break it down shall we? Cyn is a homophone for 'sin' due to my past being a really problematic person. I'm glad my families and some of my IRL friends understand my problems and were there for me. If it weren't for them, I'll do much worse of what I already am but that's all in the past. Tru as in 'true' because in the past, I lied in fact too many times and wanted to be the opposite of that and So is the last set of letters for 'Caruso'

2) Why do you make artworks?
For joys and giggles. Honestly, I make artworks because I don't have anything else to do.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
It all started when I watch a few smexual vids that popped up in my recommendations back in 2015. So far I've made a few and slowly starting to get bored but this is when I really often making artworks in mid July 2017, when I discovered DeviantArt. Back then, I started off small and as the years passes by, I'd gain much.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
About 5 years now. So far, I've improve so much from others' works and masterpieces.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Garry's mod, SFM and paint.net.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
Well, it helps me to express what I was going for. After it's done, I can remove that idea from my imagination so that I can get more ideas and not being stress with such overloading storage of imaginations.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Sometimes when you have lots of ideas, it can't translate well or conflicted with another.

8) What are you planning for the future?
Beats me, I really don't know what I'm planning for the future. Either be a modeler or focusing on the road ahead.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
I'm actually quite proud of what I had made even though it's nothing special;

10) People you'd like to thank?
I would like to thank all of my friends for being there with me including those who were once my friend. You're clearly the best lads I've ever met and I'm thankful for it for those that I have inspired or inspires me. If I hadn't met you guys, I'm sure I'm gonna get left behind rather than others in this guide. All of you have been an inspiration to me to be more open and improving my social skills.

11) Any tips for beginners?
For me, the more you progress, the more you can improve your art and fix the mistakes. If you look at others' work, you unlock revelations and ideas and also, don't rush things, take your time.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Well, I had a pretty good time writing this. You know, here's the last thing I want to say; Instead of hating it, it's better to give the beginners a few good pointers.
David the Coffee Craver
My Profile: https://steamcommunity.com/id/DIF-Studios/

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
My name is David, im 23 years old, and im a gmod artist as well as mapmaker, hexer, and modelmaker. I primarly make tf2 stuff in gmod, but i can do other themes and such if i want. im as well a admin in the tf2 gmodders discord.

im a major drinker of coffee, and enjoyer of old and some modern music. major fan of tf2 and valve games in general. im a also a collector of old models and maps for gmod. A bit of big fan of some Arkane Studios games like dishonored.

2) Why do you make artworks?
Mainly for the joy and fun when making gmod artworks. wether their just some random screenshots or just high quality artworks.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
it mostly started with the gmod animations of the tf2 chracters back in 2011, that got me into tf2 and steam. the friends i met along the way and the artwork i saw got me very much interested with gmod entirely.

but even in the early days i was just making alot of weird stuff but they were me first. with this being one my firsts.

but as time went on, i ment people like skullcracker and L4DFan13 that got me mostly into gmod artworks. but i was still improving on my work back then as well with these. with the fun times i had, and some small work ive done. it was marxsman who realy help me shine with my skills for maps and reskins.

then what got me more into it was marxsman back in the day, with me and him making stuff like the gmod maps like the tf2 dessert and even the tf2 dessert pub. it was the time i got into the gmod workshop scene and realy expanded myself from there on. doing custom reskins and maps for people to enjoy. it was there when i met doctor strange and we started to do small stuff that grew from there, which included the map me and strange enjoyed working on which was the map, Green village. of course the end came for marxsman, after he excepted his actions after what he did in the past. but i didnt make the memories of him all bad, i just simple took the good ones that i had and moved on.

but ever since he left, i now spent my days with Doctor Strange, who taught me the ways of making very good gmod artworks. and with his help got me to alot more things now a days. but also made even more friends like Agojt, but it also made me look into stuff to improve that i never thought about for gmod and others. this is were i realy started to improve with my artwork skills, learning about better lighting posing. but alot wouldnt happen if not for me and doctor strange making a gmod map Green village. once that map came into fruition, that is when everything went wild after that.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
probaly ever since 2015.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Mainly Gmod, Photoshop, and rarely Gimp.
alot of times i use references and music to help get me going with ideas

6) What do you like the most about making art?
The idea and creativity of making something out of nothing. the act of making a world inside a view screen.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
The things i hate when Im making stuff is when you try to put ideas into scene, it hard when you have the perfec idea and somehow it dosent translate well into your artwork. its something that plagues me sometimes.

8) What are you planning for the future?
beats me.
if anything, the more you plan to far ahead you might loose track on where you stand entirely. so i say, keep what you want to go for in your head and keep focus on the road ahead.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
its kinda hard when you've done alot. to be honest it's like have a bunch of favorite songs, it hard to choose one to be you best.

but i can show a couple that you might like.

10) People you'd like to thank?
theres a some people i would like to thank.
Doctor Strange for being the one who got me to the position im in with my artworks and a great teacher and friend. who gave me tips, ideas, music, and the fun in general.

AGojyt for being a great friend and heavy main. the man, me and doctor strange would make tall tales about him, and his exploits and random stuff about him.

Le Shifty, Phe, and PjWrox. Fellow members and friends of the Tf2 Gmodders group who i defeintly had some great times with. shifty giving me some good times on tf2 and DbD, being the green british spy we all know in our group. Phe being a blast being with. having fun on tf2 and looking at her Half Life Tf2 recreation maps. and Pj, being our nerd Gremlin and local terrorizer and great freind.

To my old friends...
L4DFan13, and Skullcracker. you two where my best friends back in the day, making reskins and artwork and just having a blast on tf2 together. but that was a time long ago, but something i will still remember.

and to the one some my have some hate on, but someone who mattered alot to me..

Marxsman...
He showed me alot, and gave me alot. he helped me get my maps and idea out into the scene, who showed me to Doctor strange, and much more... i know what he did, he was wrong, but i should not let his sins be something to throw away all that he help build, i may have ereased your name from work, but your contribution will still be there. in my work, and in my past.

11) Any tips for beginners?
dont be perturbed, when it dosent go your way. just work to be better, all it takes is time.

And Dont think just because sfm is nicer means its better, it like saying oils are better then watercolor for paintings. both have pros and cons, same goes for gmod and sfm. but to be honest, you can do as much as sfm with out the bugs.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
i hope you have enjoyed reading my bio, and also the others you read before and after me.

if ya can, Read up on my Friend Doctor Strange, the man who gave me alot in gmod.

Because its really fun.

At the begining i didn't make tf2 poster, but after seeing what i can do with the tf2 character, i decided to make tf2 poster

First Gmod poster

First Tf2 poster

4) How long have you been making artworks?
I've been making artworks for 4 years.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?

For exemple;
-movie poster:

Detective Jonathan
Profile Link: https://steamcommunity.com/id/DetectiveJonathan/

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Sure thing, i'm Detective Jonathan i got into Steam back in the year 2015 when i was in middle school. Heard about Garry's Mod during the time and decided to purchase it. Was fascinated by the gameplay and how funny it looked at the time. My character is just a suited citizen from the Suits and Robbers playermodels pack that has been customized with some shoulder holsters and a badge. Basic? Yes. But the story behind him i'd say is pretty good.
2) Why do you make artworks?
Hobby, and the ability of posing character models with other models from different games and universes.
3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
I don't know really, i guess i just started posing my character and went from there.
4) How long have you been making artworks?
5 years. But during that time the quality of my art wasn't on par with others until late 2019. Back then i did delete most of my old art pieces because it just wasn't good.
5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
When i first started i used Gmod, but then later on i moved into SFM. Still though, the stuff i learned from Gmod carried over.
6) What do you like the most about making art?
The ability to have my character interact with other character models.
7) What do you hate the most about making art?
The amount of stress that it places on you mentally. Art pieces can take a whole lot of time. So when you're starting out you have to plan out what you want to do, look at references and such. And then imagine in your head what you want your scene to look like in the end. Some of these things can take at the most a couple of hours. To a day or even a couple of weeks or two. And sometimes, you'll end up finding yourself staring at the piece wondering if it even looks good.
8) What are you planning for the future?
Right now since i am in SFM, i do plan on going into Animating a series featuring my character. If animating in SFM gets to hard i'll probably go back to my roots in gmod. Since that is where i started after all. Would be nice to get back into the game that helped me out.
9) Favourite artwork you've made?
Although i do have a variety of favorites, this one i made in SFM would have to be at the top. I was practicing some rim lighting and such and was trying to get some light shining on the back of my character and the harpoon. I think it came out nicely.
10) People you'd like to thank?
The one person that comes to mind is Cassius, the dude made a personal dream of mind come true by adding some simple shoulder holsters to the model i use in order to complete the stereotypical Detective look. Dudes amazing in what he does.
11) Any tips for beginners?
Don't go expecting every single person to help you through your problems. That is one major fault that i have, i learn differently, and sometimes i have people walk me through stuff because i miss out on important stuff. Not everyone is going to help you with your work, and sometimes the way they go about it will come across as douchey or whatever, if that happens, find someone else and move on from there, also, don't let criticism get to you, starting out some people are going to be very harsh in their criticism. Remember that it's words that are trying to help you and remember that we all had to go through the same thing.
12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Remember that with good art comes time. And in time there will be problems during that time, remember that with struggles comes improvement, and with improvement. Comes good art.

4) How long have you been making artworks?

As of May 24th, 2023 which I'll tend to keep updating my post, I create artworks for over: 3 years! I have pretty much stopped creating Garry's Mod artworks and switched to Blender because of how buggy and glitchy Garry's Mod is, but I still tend to use it sometimes.

Garry's Mod, Blender and Pixlr E (for photoshopping)

6) What do you like the most about making art?

It develops our taste, makes us think and make us feel.

Not taking care of small horrible details that may ruin your art.

8) Favourite artwork you've made?

9) Any tips for beginners?

Think positively, because it fits you! It doesn't matter what program you use to create your art, it's how you create your art. Last but not least, we learn on mistakes, and we improve.[/b][/u]

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
What inspired me to start making posters is by Joazzz, Brezzz, Snip105, and olmate ubafest their work gave me lots of inspiration to improve alot and others too gonna be honest Joazzz has to be my favorite poster maker who inpsired me alot on gmod posters.
4) How long have you been making artworks?
before I make lots of work on gmod it was on June 2022 the time my close friend gifted me gmod is around may.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
I use garrys mod for renders and I use photoshop to edit, stack, blend, and adding effects on my posters.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
is that I can do a kitbash with other models and my own scenes on gm black cuz its really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
What I hate about art is that I sometimes experience art block, stressed of my expectations about the poster I'm making and what would it look like when its done, I usually scrap them leaving them to collect dust, models having missing textures when doing the lighting session after hrs of scene build and posing just to end up of models having missing textures when get hit by the light.
Sometimes I see ppl who make posters looks ♥♥♥♥ theyre using light and with baked lights on its cancer like posters of tf2, splatoon, fnaf, furries and refuse to learn and accept criticism and look at their mistakes and lack of progress to be honest

8) What are you planning for the future?
to be honest, I don't know what I'm planning to do in the future, I'm planning to port some wh40k models that is from Death of Hope a wh40k fan animation which I have the assets of it, so it can be usable for both SFM and Gmod, too bad my pc kind of bad cuz cant handle blender ig, planning to do time lapses if my pc is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good, making a guide about soft lamps and giving tips too, and continue the grind of working out and study for college soon and doing commissions.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
It would be the "Battle of Calth" "Recovering a Imperial knight" and "Shadow Crusade: Slaughter of Nuceria"

10) People you'd like to thank?
I wanna thank vers for criticizing me alot on lighting which improved me alot
and I wanna thank snip105 for helping me out a bit
Bunny helping me on photoshop
I'll thank Olmate for making a guide about soft lmaps, the basics of it and tips
and my close friends and people who support my work!

11) Any tips for beginners?
It's best to take criticisms rather being immature and crying over it, criticisms do Improve you alot it will make you Improve if you learn and look from the mistakes you made on your work, get used to know with the tools you have before going nuts, start small btw dont start big it will just kill your day, be patient, and experiment with your tools or lighting with softlamps and try finding your style that suits for you. (I recommend using gm black since it has no baked lights)
Also do not even ask private models or begging for them your just gonna be annoying asf.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
for the love of god don't do cancerous ♥♥♥♥ like fnaf, MLP, splatoon, and furries, its heresy my brothers and sisters and also dont ask me for the models ffs

I make artworks because of my boredom or what ideas are on my mind,
or sometimes making a reference from a Video/Movie
sometimes inspiring Artworks/Music that keeps my mood up,
and probably... Badass music that makes me wanna go crazy and I feel like I can do anything! xD

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
(around 2010-2012 when I knew about TF2 through Gmod animations)
Before I had Steam or got Gmod, I watched lots of Gmod animations, it inspired me to also make those silly scenarios too, and wanted to buy Gmod badly, till one day I saw amazing artworks and I wanna try to do it too!

I eventually improved throughout the years and wanted to learn softlamps on April 2020 since there are lots of softlamp screenshots now xD
I've helped some of my newbie Gmod friends on how to make screenshots and inspire them through my artworks and others.
Gmod animations inspired me to do it, so why not I share my knowledge and inspire others too?

4) How long have you been making artworks?
Right after I bought Garry's Mod which was on April 13-14, 2016,

I immediately launched the game and made a silly TF2 scene, like those Gmod TF2 animations I've seen. xD

Looking at my first screenshot now, it just gives me nostalgia and I wanted to teach my younger self how to properly make decent artwork. xD

My first screenshot from April 13-14, 2016:

My re-creation to my first screenshot Jan, 13. 2019:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1623566385
The years sure do fly by, and you eventually improve through those times :v

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Garry's Mod = For screenshot making xD
Paint Dot Net = For merging my softlamp render layers into one and adjustments to brightness and colors. And usually used for making my own custom textures for my personal use for a screenshot :v
6) What do you like the most about making art?
The passion and hardwork you put into your scenes, and the countless hours you've been making it.
And when you learn a new screenshot technique, that makes it more satisfying to make more artworks with it!
7) What do you hate the most about making art?
I don't have hate for making arts but... Since I have a potato laptop and all, I have hate from all the problems I get from making my own arts, which are:
  • Blue Screen of Death
  • Garry's Mod not responding and crashed
  • Accidentally hitting your admin clean-up command bind and losing your scene instead of hitting the other binded key next to it
  • Accidentally spawning in the expensive light enitity from Advanced Render Lamps and crashing
  • Rendering a high quality setting softlamp scene by accident or realizing the problem to the scene and had to wait for a long time.
  • 1 FPS gameplay with several advanced lamp entities which I can't turn off with a key bind unlike the default GMod lamp.
  • Or sometimes, when making a scene, it feels off and I just become lazy to fix it at some point. xD
(Staring at several unfinished save projects. Lmao)
8) What are you planning for the future?
I don't really have much thoughts for my future to be honest, but I've always thought of becoming a solo musician with my knowledge I've learned from different instruments and combining those knowledge into one.
Or another one, becoming a digital, sketch, paint artist or architect.
9) Favourite artwork you've made?
There's lots, but I'll share my best ones :v

10) People you'd like to thank?
I'd like to thank Olmate Ubafest's softlamp tutorial for the do's and don'ts of using the softlamp,
and all of those Garry's Mod animators which have been an inspiration to me; STBlackST, Eltorro64Rus, That Gray Cartoon Pony, Antoine Delak, EthioMod, etc...

and of course, Kitty0706 for the amazing masterpieces of his Gmod animations, and Team Fabulous 2 that inspired me the most. The creativity, the silliness, everything.
11) Any tips for beginners?
CAMERA:As Olmate Ubafest once said on his video, (I don't wanna sound mean but...) 90 FOV screenshots are not that... Good to be honest.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piOKZ6D8v-g
Hold your right click button and move UP or DOWN to zoom in and out with your camera.
And move your mouse LEFT or RIGHT to roll the camera to a desired angle you want.
I recommend beginners to look at photograph references from Google Images on how real photographers work their cameras, how they zoom, how they position themselves to capture their shots.

If the photograph shot was taken from the ground, you can use noclip to level yourself down to the floor, enough to not see the outside of the map and take the shot below.

Here's an example of one of my screenshots, shot from below the subject, and zoom and little bit of rolls used. :v
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2089208295
LIGHTING: Use your lamp wisely. Not too much brightness, not too dim, and angled right into the subject.

Make sure your lamp FOV value is lowered for better shadows, higher value will render your shadows inaccurately and will be too big.
An example of one of my screenshots with decent lighting and with lowered value of FOV:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2060209140

Move your lamp away from the scene if your FOV is too small to fit it to your scene.

Useful command to see the lamp outlines
bind [key] r_flashlightdrawfrustum # ( 1 enabled, while 0 being disabled)

This command will show the light lines of your lamp and how you set your settings of your lamp.
From the size (FOV), from the FarZ(Distance), and NearZ (Starting point distance)

References are your friend when you are in trouble of making a scene.
Think where the light source of your scene is, where the natural light, the lightbulb, or the lamp located in your scene.

POSING: Think to yourself when you pose a ragdoll and imagine the ragdoll is you. Is the positioning of the ragdoll comfortable?
Try to pose yourself like your ragdoll and do it in real life if it feels painful or comfortable.
Or if you want the pose a ragdoll doing an action (Shocked, sad, angry, swinging a bat, etc...)
, make sure you think of a pose IRL on how the action would look like and copy the pose you did IRL to your ragdoll
(You can also look for reference from the internet too)
12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?

Whoever is reading this, thank you for your time to read my message!
And as one guy said from a video I saw in the internet: "You cannot rush art."

Take your time, don't pressure yourself, take it easy, follow your passions and keep doing it until you eventually improve your knowledge and skills on what you love to do.
HAPPY HEAVY
1) Can you tell us about yourself?
I am a danish gmodder known as HAPPY HEAVY. Making funny screenshots in Gmod is a creative hobby of mine, I have been doing it for years and managed to build quite a nice following around it. Other than that I also enjoy cooking/baking, listening to rock and metal and gaming. As a person I am very introvert but I become a lot more "extrovert-like" around people that I know well so I do enjoy being social on smaller Discord servers. Often when I meet new people I am told that I have a deep voice and they are usually surprised when I tell them my actual age because they expect me to be much older. I would like to say more but the character limit of my page is preventing me.

2) Why do you make screenshots?
I consider making screenshots as a creative hobby like drawing or photography which is also why I find playing Gmod relaxing in a different way compared to other games.
3) What inspired you to start making screenshots and how long have you been doing it?
Back in my early teenage years, my friends and I would often invite eachother over to play Gmod at someone's home where we would do all sorts of things in Gmod like creating huge npc battles, building vehicles and sometimes we would also make silly poses for ragdolls. So my very first gmod screenshot with posed ragdolls was posted in 2011. It was only until the year of 2014 where i officially considered myself a gmodder because that is the year i decided to make my own Gmod group. By that time I was in the middle of my teens years so I had also become a lot better at english from the lessons I had in elementary school. At the time I was also a part of a Gmod friend-circle which was a huge motivator for me because that was the only way we were able to share our screenshots with others and get supportive feedback. Many years has passed since that but I still enjoy making screenshots.
4) What do you like the most about making screenshots?
To me it gives me the opportunity to really be creative and it is a really healthy brain exercise. Often I do have expectations about what I want to make but sometimes I get an impulsive idea that usually make the screenshot a lot better than I expected. While making Gmod screenshots I prefer to be alone cause then I can listen to a lot of music while doing it but other times I am in discord while doing it where I post early progress of my screenshots and get feedback.
5) What do you hate the most about making screenshots?
What I hate the most is that Gmod can sometimes be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ buggy ♥♥♥♥♥ which makes it a lot more difficult than it should be. Most tools that you download from the Gmod workshop are really useful but if you start to be creative with how you can use multiple tools to achieve a certain outcome it can result in that ragdolls become extremely difficult to pose cause their hitboxes get really messed up.
6) Why you should and should not get into making Gmod screenshots?
Why you should.
  • It is a unique way to be creative.
  • Make screenshots together with your friends.
Why you should not.
  • Create screenshots for the sole purpose of using the amount of likes as a source of validation.
  • Use an original character to picture yourself in dream scenarios to stroke your ego.

7) What does it feel like to have years of experience of doing screenshots in gmod?
It feels good to be able to help others with gmod because of my experience.

8) Do you consider your own gmod screenshots "art"?
Nope, I focus on making my screenshots entertaining so I don't care too much about them being pretty to look at. On the other hand I have done some SFM artwork which I would consider art because in those artwork I focus a lot more on lighting, Perspective and realistic character posing,
9) You used to make Source Filmmaker artwork, why don't you do that anymore?
I pretty much stopped doing SFM cause it didn't really appeal to the following that I have. I don't blame them for having that opinion and personally I find it more enjoyable making funny screenshots in Gmod.

10) What are you planning for the future?
So far my plan is to continue making screenshots in Gmod but my life will most likely change a lot soon as I am fairly close to graduate my education in computer science. Right now the future is completely full of opportunities so there is no way I can predict what will happen.

11)What is your most favourite screenshot you ever made?
This one probably has to be one of my most favorite screenshots. It really captures the spirit of the music that I like to listen to but in a silly and extreme way.
12)How many hours do you have in Gmod?
At the moment of writing this I have 2129 hours in Gmod

13)Where do you get your inspirations for Gmod screenshots?
Sometimes I get inspired by what's trendy at the moment like recently I made a screenshot that is a reference to Doom Eternal.
Other times I like to not have any inspiration at all cause that way it is easier to make screenshots that is completely original. Often these screenshots are based on a simple sentence like "Don't mess with spy"
14)How do you handle with burnout?
Burnout is something I have experienced many times as a gmodder. In my case there's pretty much 2 different types of burnout.

The first type of burnout appears when you are doing Gmod too much. When you make a lot of screenshots during a short time it can feel satisfying at first but it can also develop into an unhealthy habit that will quickly kill your motivation because you want to force yourself to make many screenshots. Best way to deal with this is to take a short break from Gmod for about a week or two and then regulate yourself to make less screenshots. That way you make sure to have a more regular upload of screenshots and you prevent yourself from doing the exact thing that caused the burnout in the first place.

The second type of burnout is based on external factors which has nothing to do with Gmod at all and therefore this one is a lot worse than the first type of burnout. These external factors are based on your daily life and are therefore often out of your control. An example of this could be that you're studying for an exam or your job demands that you put in a lot more hours to finish a product for a deadline. When this happens to me I almost lose all motivation for Gmod because after a long busy and tiring day, I much rather play other games that are far more relaxing and less demanding of my time. The second type of burnout is basically period where you are extremely busy and with the little amount of spare time you have, you just can't find the will to make a screenshot in gmod. The only good thing is that you will automatically gain your interest for Gmod back when you get more spare time.

15) People you'd like to thank?
I would like to thank everyone who is a member of my Steam group, my watchers on DeviantArt and the people who follows me on Steam. If it weren't for them I probably would not be doing Gmod anymore. Having people patiently waiting for my content shows to me there is a demand for it.

Also some of these questions in this guide are from people who is in my Steam group so that's cool they are willing to contribute with question to my chapter.
16) Any tips for beginners?
If you are a beginner or considering getting into Gmod, I would suggest you find someone who can teach you how to make screenshots/artwork or look up Gmod guides on Steam. Other than that it is all about practice from then on.
17) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
If it weren't for the about 8000 character limit then I would love to answer more questions. Unfortunately 3 questions had to be removed because of that.
Drac

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Hello! The name's Drac! I used to be Horny Weeb. Im a weeb who can't afford anything so has to be on his PC 24/7 to be entertained. Obviously by being in this guide I'm a Gmod artist, a not well known one tho... I make weeby artwork aswell as comics...

and sometimes gifs if I have an idea for them. Check out my gifs here: https://imgur.com/user/HrnyWeebuGifs/posts
2) Why do you make artworks?
Well to be honest, its pretty much just because I get bored. I'm a creative person yeah but the main reason I make artwork is because its a nice, chill past time.
3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
Uhhhhhhhh, I don't remember ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I think its because I had the ability to and being a creative person, so why not? Another reason is seeing art in the Gmod community.
4) What is your most famous artwork?
I don't know why this blew up and I hate that this my most popular.

5) How long have you been making artworks?
Um lets see.....holy crap 5 years!
6) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Only Gmod and MSpaint (to make my comics); too poor to use anything else. I did use Source Filmaker for a bit and made like 3 artworks but, I didn't enjoy it.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1388886976
7) What do you like the most about making art?
( ー`дー´) The attention!

8) What do you hate the most about making art?
Having Ideas but not the knowledge on how to make them. Also the 8mb limit on art. I cant upload my gifs directly to steam because of that >:(
9) What are you planning for the future?
Nothing much. I probably will still be making artwork.... or not who knows.
10) Favourite artwork you've made?
hehehehehehe

I made this when I was still new to making art but I still love it till this day.
11) People you'd like to thank?
I'd like to thank Dr. Rapture for being the artist that got me excited to actually make art. Zenpai too for being a great art pal.
12) Any tips for beginners?
Your not going to be popular right off the bat. Look at me I've been doing this for 5 years and I can only get a max of 4 likes nowadays. Also you are prob not going to make the best art right when you start off, so look at some guides bout lighting and such. Don't forget about scenebuilding, it allows alot more creative settings.

13) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Please like my art, it raises my self-esteem also Shigure is best girl and I will kill you with her 12.7 cm/ 50 caliber cannons if you think otherwise. Have a great day :)
Hunter Yap
I would like to give my thanks to Intruso for giving me a chance to be here at in interview.
And I also would like to thank my buddy Mr.Ronald for helping me with out with dupes and as well as the artwork seen above! Thanks birdbrain!

1) Can you tell us about yourself?

Aye it's me on Steam
Aye it's me on Youtube

G'day lads! I ugh- I'm Hunter Yap, I'm a GModder who does pretty random stuff and I make good dupes occasionally. I like to draw in real life, I'm a big JoJo nerd and I can do the Orange Justice in real life (ugh). I also have a Youtube channel where I pretty much just post very random stuff when I'm bored.
2) Why do you make artworks?

Well because I'm bored and also, I've got an idea.
My own idea, to make an interconnected world based off of superheroes and supervillains.
I've made a lot of artworks with that idea since then, even made a short comic book based around that idea.
But mostly because ugh, I'm bored.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?

Kitty0706 was the LAD that got me into GMod the first place, and STAN LEE was the MAN who got me into art.

Collin and Stan showed me that no matter who you are, if you want to just keep doing something you love, then go for it.
"Do what you love."

4) How long have you been making artworks?

Umm, bout 5 years now. I bought GMod back in 2015 cause it was bloody cheap. And I just spent hours and hours doing posing and scenery on that first day. (I spent like 8 hours straight on GMod)

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?

Garry's Mod, duh. (Never touched any other programs like Photoshop)

6) What do you like the most about making art?

You get to express what's in your mind, the concepts and the ideas. To show what that lil fleshy mind of yours can come up with.
Also, adding TEENY-TINY details are very, very fun.
I spent like an hour just adding and resizing the saliva and blood.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?

The crashes, that is the most unholy thing that could happen to ya.
Forget the bad framerates you get when you have about 1000 addons, or the annoying lads that kept on pinging you on chat, THAT is the worst part.

8) What are you planning for the future?

Nothing really, keep making more random stuff I supposed?

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

Oh ye-

I also make dupes, I frequently collaborate with Mr.Ronald to make wacky and cool stuff!

Dupes here!

10) People you'd like to thank?

Of course, I would like to thank the big boi himself Intruso for giving me the chance to ugh, talk? Also would like to thank my friends and that's pretty much it.

11) Any tips for beginners?

Oh, just spent like a few hours experimenting with posing, mixing and matching cosmetics and do some random sceneries.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?

how many tank can you tank in a tanky tank and a tank can a tanky how many tanky tank in a single tanky tank and a single can tank a tanky of a tanky tank and a tanky of a tank can tanky a single of a tanky tanky tank and tank can tank a single tanky tank of a tanky tanky tank and then you can tanky tank tank tanky tank tank and rekt some tanky of tank and the tank tanky tank can tank a tanky tank.

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Hi, my name is Intruso, also known as Andrea.
I'm a 20 years old italian dude that absolutely loves history and everything that regards the military, like tanks, airplanes, ships and weapons.
My favourite band is "Sabaton".
My favourite dish is "Anchovies pizza".

I make artworks for the Team Fortress 2 community to enjoy.

2) Are you the creator of this guide?
On a certain extent, yes. But the guide was really created by the union of all of the artists that decided to join us. Otherwise without them.. it would have just been an empty guide with me in it.
So if there is someone that should be thanked, it's all of the artists that are inside this guide, because without them this would have never been possible.

3) Why do you make artworks?
First of all, let me say that i make artworks only when i have "inspiration" and want to transform that inspiration into an artwork.
It's hard to tell what inspiration is, it's basically when in my mind an idea pops out of nowhere of a character in a certain pose with a specific background, or a whole battle scene, the aftermath of a battle scene with some characters doing specific things and stuff like that.
That's also the reason why sometimes i don't make anything for months, inspiration has to come by itself, it's the heart and soul of an artwork and forcing yourself to make one will only result in a soulless artwork.

4) What inspired you to start making artworks?
It all started when i bought Gmod in 2012 and saw those wonderful artworks in the main menu and HUB made by the community, and i tought "Why not try to make some by myself too? Bet i can become as popular as these artists!"
And ... of course my first attempts were disasters. But even after those and after having read so many guides on how to do get good ... i still sucked at making art ... like .. a lot!
I can definitely say that after trying and retrying, my artworks started to become slightly decent in 2017. Because at that moment i realized that you don't have to make artworks because you want to become popular, you do them because you want to have fun and have an idea that you want to share to the world. And from there, my artworks started getting much better untill some of my friends started asking commissions and some of my artworks out of nowhere managed to get tons of attention and it has been pretty much like this since then, with people asking me commissions and with my artworks getting attention out of nowhere.
Nowadays i'm trying to re-learn how to use GiMP to make them even better. You never stop learning in life!

5) How long have you been making artworks?
I've been making artworks since when i was 12, in 2012.

6) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?

I use Garry's Mod, Paint and GiMP for texts and special effects.

7) What do you like the most about making art?
• I totally love when you're about to reach the end of making an artwork and all the work you've been doing for hours finally starts to show.
• I also love when an artwork i've spent so much time on gets lots of attention! \(^-^ )/
• I also love to make artworks about medieval and historical stuff!

You can actually tell that i've recently played Deltarune, don't you? (._.")

8) What do you hate the most about making art?
The thing i hate the most about it is that SOMETIMES after you've finished everything and made a perfect artwork, you start to slowly realize that it isn't so perfect as it looked at the beginning, in fact as time passes ... you start to realize more and more mistakes you've made in it. Becoming so relevant that some artworks start to look like abominations after a while, because all you can see are the mistakes that you've made in it.
This happens to me so much that there are in fact some of my artworks that i wish to remove from my Steam Artworks section. If only it wasn't for all the attention they've obtained.

But what can i say ...after all you never stop improving.

9) What are you planning for the future?
I'm currently very busy with my school exams but what i've got in mind is:
• Make a big update for my most popular guide "Encyclopedia of Team Fortress 2 Artworks" .
• Make a brief series of medieval artworks with some characters that i've created (OCs).
• Make an artwork about tanks.
• Make an artwork about pizza.

10) Favourite artwork you've made?
Tough choiche... probably these two:

11) People you'd like to thank?
Of course, i would like to thank everyone that watches my art and supports me and my works, friends, artists and donators!
I would also like to thank:

Every artist that agreed to join this guide.
Your help was very significant and helped making this guide more complete.

Everyone who has made fan-arts for me...
(RiFFU, Mr_Bird)

...or helped me with finding artists for this guide.

You
For taking your time reading this guide!
12) Any tips for beginners?
Remember to read guides to help you out instead of watching tutorial videos, because guides leave space to creativity way more than a step by step video. I've also written a guide that could help beginners trough their journey, feel free to check it out:

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
"Sheesh, you're askin' a lot of me, but I guess I can give somethin' of an answer."
I'm from Britain - the southeast of it. Having been born and raised there - so it is no wonder I used to make so many grey scale images or the presented characters look bloody miserable. At least my teeth are fine, though. I make the occasional Garry's Mod Artwork whenever the planets align. Along with Garry's Mod, I sometimes draw - both digitally and traditionally, along with the occasional piece of fiction, often never getting finished.

2) Why do you make artworks?
"For fun! I wouldn't do it otherwise."
To make a long story short? I tend to make them for fun - it's rare I do something creative other than for it simply being for fun.
That being said, I personally think it's not good or healthy to make Artwork for Rate-ups, Favourites or anything along those lines - you end up making them because you have to. Not because you want to. Rate-ups, Favourites and whatever have you should be secondary.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
"Well, hah, that's an easy one!"
If memory serves correctly, I first got into Garry's Mod because of how accessible of a medium it was. My first ever Gmod Artwork wasn't lit properly; the posing was of the ragdolls was all around terrible; the camera wasn't properly placed... But I was happy with the final product, given how young I had been at the time, and how it had been during the first time I booted up Garry's Mod. I continued to make Gmod Artwork - regardless of how terrible it was, eventually raising my quality and standards.
It still makes me cringe to look at it now, though. Thanks younger me.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
"If my maths isn't wrong?"
I've made Gmod Artwork for 6 years, since 09/02/2013, but made nothing for around a year or so, hence why it is only 6 instead of 7. I doubt I would've improved all that much from my old standards, I still wonder where I'd be now if I had continued to make Artwork throughout that year...

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
"Uhh, lemme think... Garry's Mod, Garry's Mod, Garry's Mod and, uuhhh... Oh! Garr-"
If I can, I like to use the in-game engine for a majority of what I make - it's nice to know what exactly the Source Engine can accomplish. But, when I add the texture and extra details of the VHS Box or weathering, I tend to use Pixlr. [pixlr.com]

6) What do you like the most about making art?
"There's a satisfyin' feelin' to see what you've created."
The final product tends to give me a real sense of accomplishment when I come to the end of the process of making a piece. There is a feeling of satisfaction of looking over something and knowing that you made it - there is a certain feeling of accomplishment from looking at a newer piece and comparing it to an older piece to see how you've improved.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
"Whenever things go wrong that'cha weren't expectin' to, y'know?"
Often, I find that there isn't a particular process or aspect that I actively dislike. Rather, one of the things that I tend to despise about making it is when I hit a roadblock that I had not seen beforehand. While it isn't exactly a problem, as many of these have workarounds, it's often irritating when things are going swimmingly, only to see a shadow that's just a bit too sharp and pixel-like, or realizing that a ragdoll doesn't look right from the angle you've positioned the camera from.

8) What are you planning for the future?
"Oh, dear God. Uuhh... Pass?"
In all honesty, I don't know what I am doing to do for the future - hell knows I don't have any plans for it. I might continue, I might not, but, hey, if I don't, then I might find another medium to fully shift to. But, for now, I am planning to stay with Gmod as my current medium.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
"Y'know, they said that H.P Lovecraft often hated most of his own work-"
Of the Gmod Art I made, I probably have a few favourites. But, my favourite one I've made? It'd have to be this one.

This came off the back end of a big burst of inspiration I had, combined with getting Hotline Miami during the Summer Sale of 2019; it had me hooked, and gave me something of a jolt of inspiration to make something very in the theme of what I'd been inspired by.

However, there are a few runners up! These are a few examples of other pieces that I've created recently - some are older than others, but I still like the look of them.

10) People you'd like to thank?
"Alright, do we have the forged papers ready? Wait, are we still rolling?"
Heh, overall, there are a good number of people I'd like to thank, and perhaps that list might be a little too numerous to mention. But, there are a few names that spring to mind.
(These are in no particular order!)
Doctor Strange - This spell casting man with a questionable PhD helped me ramp up my standards and often provided a good chunk of helpful advice about improving the overall quality of my Artworks.
Commander-Pink - This Pink suited Mini Keanu Reeves in disguise was a good bit of inspiration for her stellar Artwork - traditional and Gmod. I'd also like to thank her for her help in critiquing my drawings.
AGoJyt - This Danish bank robber, part-time mercenary and Big Boss is always around to lend a hand. Much like Commander-Pink, his Artworks helped keep my inspired.
Halfi - This also Danish kettle wheeze is a wonderful Artist in both traditional and digital. But, along with his wonderful pieces, his encouragement was a big help to me.
Legion - This former Devil from the depths of hell was a big help and inspiration to me during my days when I was starting out with Gmod. It'd feel insincere of me to not mention him.
FiremanTheScout - This fire of which is man was another one from my early days of Gmod. His posing was, and still is, phenomenal, and served as a big inspiration to me during my early days.
Jojo - A not-so young Dutch Spongebob enthusiast that has always been there for me, in situations big and small. His support has always helped me.
Matchstick - This little Ginger Parasite has always been a tremendous help to me - in more ways than one, and are too numerous to mention.

11) Any tips for beginners?
"I guess it's a classic sorta thing to say, but, don't give up."
Make whatever it is that you would like to make - Gmod is VERY accessible. Take advice on board and remember: practice really does make perfect.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
"Heh, there is, actually!"
Thanks for having me on the show, Intruso! And, stay safe, Readers!

Hey, how's it going?

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Not much to say really, I'm just some random guy who likes to make gmod artwork when he's bored or has nothing better to do.

2) Why do you make artworks?
If I'm going to be completely honest, I'm not really sure why I make gmod artwork. I just kind of decided to try my hand at it after playing the game for a long while alongside seeing all the other creations by various artists. I mostly just kind of found it both fun and satisfying being able to pose something and apply whatever artistic skills I know such as lighting and effects.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
This may be similar to what I've previously said, but I guess the idea sort of came about after seeing what some artists have created over the years. And the question sort of popped in my head, "What if I was one of them?". I kind of fantasized the thought for a few years now, but was sort of self conscious and lacked the bravery to participate.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
I'm pretty sure my first piece of artwork dates back as far as 2012, what said piece is I don't quite recall and is probably lost to time.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Gimp is the main program I utilize in creating pictures, my system crawls at times because of the size of the images I'm shoving into it, but hey, it gets the job done.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
I really like pushing my limits, seeing how far I can go and what my imagination can come up with.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
I wouldn't necessarily define it as hate per se, more of slight annoyance. At times I do loose steam depending on what I create, and as a result some things won't come out the way I envisioned them, leading to a sort of jumbled mess of frustration and tiredness.

8) What are you planning for the future?
Wherever the wind takes me I guess.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
I don't particularly have a favorite art piece that I've made if I'm being honest, there's tid bits of things from all my pictures that I like. So instead, here's some pics that I've made.

10) People you'd like to thank?
I'd like to thank a lot of the gmod artists out there who gave me inspiration for simply just creating and sharing. As well as Intruso for inviting me to participate in this guide.

11) Any tips for beginners?
Practice Practice Practice.
I know it may sound a little cliche, but from experience I can tell you that practice really does make perfect. Without screwing up over and over again alongside nearly losing my mind I wouldn't be utilizing soft lamps the way I do today! Sure I may not be perfect at it, but I like to think I'm getting somewhere.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Guess that's it on my end, to whomever is reading, thank you and take care, and thanks again to Intruso for inviting me to be a part of this.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
In real life, I have academically been studying the arts for 6 years now, on Garry's mod I have merely been doing it for almost 2 years.

I use Garry's Mod, Photoshop and 3DS Max as of recently.
6) What do you like the most about making art?

Experiment! By god you gotta experiment, if studying Art and Design and now Interaction Design has taught me anything it is that experimenting and leaving your comfort zone can really progress your confidence and skill!
If you're a visual learner like myself then my lighting timelapse might be of some help.

KARMA『 the BARMAN 』
Its my turn? Alright.
the name's KARMA『 the BARMAN 』 but you can call me Karma

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Well, I’m a regular italian 19 year old guy that likes to improve himself with new things.
I do Gmod for a hobby and create new artworks.

2) Why do you make artworks?
Is Fun: the only and true reason.
Everbody could give a try.
it keeps your creativity and motivation going, something to express with. Is literal MAGIC: you can take something from different games and make something unique,

Gmod is just the Smash Bros. of artworks.

Is challeging: sometimes the thing you’re doing won’t collaborate with you and it can be
frustrating, but with time and patience, you can surpass every obstacle.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
Definitely DasBoshitt, MegaGfilms and Kitty0706 (Rest in peace my brother). I watched them since i was little and got inspired from them for making animations, but it turned out that, suprise suprise, its hard and time-consuming.
I just sticked with the artwork and started meeting some of the Big Boys™ of their generation like Dr Rapture, Marxsman,IrRock,L4D2Fan13 etc. I was absolutely ecstatic when i had the chance to be with the cool group and trading arts left and right, it felt like heaven. But time passes and few of them cashed out, still, this helped me going and find my style. My only regret is that i didn’t had the chance to say proprer goodbyes.
4) How long have you been making artworks?
Well... lets say that I started posting Gmod Art since 2016 but back then they were without effort then 2017 came and that's when I decided to put effort in my work.

After the time I sort of lost the motivation and started ghosting gmod, posting once or twice, saying i would come back and just dissappearing again, letting people who actually like my style down. In 11 months there was nothing but pure silence, but after i found out about this special place and seeing some of the people I used to post with again, remembering the good times, I decided to restart.
5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Obviously Garry’s Mod for the posing, lighting etc.
and photoshop like most of the creators of this group, i use it specially to add minor effects this game doesn't have and fix some part of the picture i don’t enjoy, because i prefer to preserve the art as it is...

6) What do you like the most about making art?
The lighting: it can make something look realistic as well as nice to look at. All artists will tell you that shadows are crucial to make your art look better.

And overall i like the final result. I love comparing my previous works to see if i have improved or if i got worse to then fix my mistakes in the future artworks.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
The things I hate the most are the crashes without savings, hours of work lost and
When the models I use are not high-rez enough, it tends to ♥♥♥♥ up, not only the lights, but also the rest of the image

8) What are you planning for the future?
For the future i want to become a game developer, I’ve had so many ideas throught my life that im super excited to start developing them. I want to tell the world my stories and the characters surrounding them but I can’t because I don’t like giving spoilers and also I don’t want people to steal my ideas. I can show some characters i drew though.
if you want to see more check out my profile!

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
I like every artwork I’ve done, even the old ones: there is something special in all of them.
Here’s some exaples:
10) People you'd like to thank?
I want to thank everyone who has inspired me, they made me know about not only this game but also about this beautiful community who post such good content on a daily basis.
I also want to thank everyone who has supported me thought the years.

You guys are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome.

11) Any tips for beginners?
Listen:
"Believe in yourself, if you want to do something, do it, there’s no one stopping you
and if there was, tell them to go ♥♥♥♥ off and keep going.
you CAN’T and WILL NOT please anyone, so atleast enjoy yourself.
there’s no good or bad art, only yours.
Keep it up.

and after the motivational speech
here’s some real helpful tips:

1. Use the Camera, but NOT the default camera,
holding M2 and moving up or down
will zoom in/out and moving it left and right will tilt the view.
For some people telling them this seems stupid and obvious, but a very large group actually doesn’t know the camera is a fundmental tool for artwork.

2. Spend more time with the pose.
I’ve seen many people that lazily used Stand pose, move only one arm, stick the default thumbs up, make a smile and called it a day, Don’t be that type of person. You want your characters to have emotion and be dynamic so make them do their actions like they mean it.

Use this babies right here. they’re a MUST for good Posing.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=104575630&searchtext=ragdoll+mover
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=104576786&searchtext=stand+pose
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=279079869&searchtext=advanced+bone+tool

Play with them, learn them, try to recreate some postures for reference, “let them be your friend”,
because they’re gonna stick in your addons forever now.
use every single bone the ragdoll has to offer, I often rely on the shoulders, along with the hands to accentuate the emotion of the faces they have.

3. Master the Lighting.
This in my opinion is the most important and hardest part of the work, starters just give up, not knowing what they have to do. For this one I'm sorry to tell you I don’t feel like i’m on the same level of lighting skill of the others good gmodders and i don’t want to give the wrong idea.
But i can show these guides:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=403465301
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=312702943
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1672569410
4. Use Super PDC.
Alright here’s something from the Karma’s Brand. I learned it myself.
see this bad boy in the post processing?
if used proprerly, it can raise your work to Professional levels. What it does is it smooths out the image and sort of eliminates some bugged pixels. But remember: this tool is not supposed to make said effect, so it can be frustating.
Use it when you are done with the overall image, NOT before. i tend to use the first slider from 0.020 to 0.200 depending on the distance.
here’s an example. ( Note: i might underdone it )
5. Be confident.
Now you can use my tips or stick to others as long as they are helpful to you
Don't let people ruin your art just because they don’t like it, there’s someone out there that will love your style.
Hard Work Always pays off.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Bro after writing this i’m hungry af

i lost all control.

Special thanks to XIAOtheLIAO for helping me with the grammar.

Kaiser
1) Can you tell us about yourself?

Yo, name's Kaiser. I'm a 15 year old dude from Texas, and I enjoy making GMod posters. I also play TF2, and other Valve titles.

2) Why do you make artworks?

There are many reasons as to why I make artworks, but the biggest reason as to why I do what I do is because I enjoy it. I've never really made a poster that I entirely despised making.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?

I've always been inspired by the works of Dr.Strange (Who I believe goes by "Madcap-Medic" or "Konakona" now). Alongside the many other artworks that I see made by fellow GModders. However, I'd say the biggest catalyst for what got me into making posters in the first place would be Kitty0706. He was the reason I got into GMod in the first place.

4) How long have you been making artworks?

I believe it was around 2018 I started making posters. It primarily consisted of Half-Life 2 stuff, and I only started to make TF2 artworks in 2019. Now sadly I don't have many of the old posters due to the odd decision I made, which was the delete them. However I think it's safe to say that you aren't really missing out lol.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?

I primarily use Garry's Mod and Photoshop. If you're looking for the actual answer, it would be my blood, sweat, and tears.

6) What do you like the most about making art?

Many things, too many things to list down honestly. To be more specific however, I'd say the fulfillment of finishing a poster, and gazing apon your works. Alongside the experimentation and flexibility you can have when making something. I have never learned nothing when making a new piece.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?

Art block and demotivation. I could not express to you how many times I've tried making a poster, and halfway through I just scrap it completely. Even so, some things are just not meant to be I suppose.

8) What are you planning for the future?

I wanna learn more about other programs other than GMod, such as SFM or Blender. Although, that'd be in years to come, when I'm hopefully a bit smarter lol.

9) Favorite artworks you've made?

10) People you'd like to thank?

My friends, family, really just anyone who supports me in general. If that was too much of a cliché answer for you, then it'd be those who came before me and created timeless masterpieces that, still to this day, inspire me.

11) Any tips for beginners?

Do what you love, and don't be afraid of mistakes. We have always been taught to be afraid of messing up, or being wrong. However, failing is the first step to success.

As Bob Ross puts it, "There are no mistakes, just happy accidents.".

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?

Do what you love, yo.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?

4) How long have you been making artworks?
Like I said sense 2015 though the Artwork I made back then is lost to time, but I did get back to Gmod in 2018 after watching Deadwater Gaming. and ever sense then I've been making Gmod posters and been trying to improve. Anyways here's some of my Old Artwork

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Dose Life Mod Count? I mean I know it's a addon but it's still great, other then that nope don't use any at the time of writing this (besides Gmod it self) but maybe one day I'll get Photoshop or a alternative of it.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
It's just a Fun Thing to do, like making a Poster that Tells a Story or just a Dumb Silly Joke or even... well just Art! you can just do anything!

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
well when I have Issues like Accidentally Deleting something, Messing up a Pose on a Model, Clipping problems Etc. Etc.

also like what Intruso said. when you make a Great looking Poster but you slowly realize that it isn't so perfect.

8) What are you planning for the future?
No Idea. Maybe Get Better? Who Knows, there's a lot of Improving I have to do.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

King Halfi Bedalfi
1) Can you tell us about yourself?

Well, certainly! My name is King Halfi Bedalfi, but that's mostly just flair. Halfi's what most people call me. c: Here's my profile!

I used to be known simply as Ryan way back when. This was back when I first started gaining notoriety in the Garry's Mod community, so if that rings any bells, that's because that's me!

Anyway, I am as of 2024 a 23 year old dude from Denmark who makes Team Fortress 2 artwork and occasionally Half-Life 2 artwork. I try my best to share the knowledge I've obtained over the years with others, like those who came before me.

Here are some screenshots from the time I used to go by Ryan. Look familiar?

2) Why do you make artworks?

I've held a pencil and used it to draw on paper ever since I first learned how to hold one as a toddler. My parents say I was practically born with one in my hand. My father's a digital designer and professional illustrator, and since I've always had an eye for detail, naturally I followed in his footsteps.

Learning concepts such as anatomy, perspective, framing, and portrait sketching translated really well into Garry's Mod, so poster-making was merely the next step in that evolution. Here's a recreation of some of the official Valve portraits of the TF2 characters as an example.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?

Stop-motion Garry's Mod videos on YouTube (Kitty0706's "Team Fabulous" was a big inspiration to 10 year old Halfi, as well as Dr. Face's videos)
Scrolling the Screenshots tab on the Garry's Mod community page was also a big inspiration. I happened to meet many like-minded and talented individuals on Steam that way, and they taught me most of what I know and kept me going through all the hardships I faced as I learned.

4) How long have you been making artworks?

I've been making artworks since 2012. That was when my older brother introduced me to Steam, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source, and Garry's Mod. I bought Counter-Strike: Source and Garry's Mod in a bundle that was on sale at the time. Once I started I... pretty much never stopped!

There have been breaks here and there throughout the years, but Garry's Mod is like home to me, so I always come back.

Here are some screenshots from when I first started out:

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?

Exclusively Garry's Mod! And, well, Microsoft Paint to crop my screenshots, but that's it.

Initially it was a self-imposed challenge for myself, to never use any external software and still make good posters, but as time went on, I realized Garry's Mod already fulfilled all my needs and I didn't really need anything else.
But hey, who knows, maybe sometime down the line I'll pick up Gimp or Photoshop or something!

6) What do you like the most about making art?

I like how it lets you experiment, and breathe life into your thoughts and mental visions. Visual art as a whole is one of the biggest joys of my life, and I love studying photography and visiting art museums.
I also love knowing I can make people laugh with my more silly artworks. Here are some examples of that:

Anyway, short answer is, knowing I inspire and humor people with what I make is why I make art.

7) What are you planning for the future?
I plan on continuing making posters whenever inspiration comes over me in waves (like it usually does) then maybe one day I'll become a proper illustrator, like my father.

8) Favourite artwork you've made?
Sure, take a looksie!

9) Any tips for beginners?
I could go on about how you should familiarize yourself with the console, the camera, Ragdoll Mover, Advanced Light Entities, read up on guides and whatnot... (And make no mistake, you should, eventually) But honestly, learning how Garry's Mod works through experimentation, trial and error, and simply goofing around in Sandbox is the most wholesome process, at least in my experience.

And don't be discouraged from reaching out and asking for help from other artists. If they're good people, they'll happily teach you what they know, for a good artist should feel confident in their craft, and not feel threatened by up-and-coming ones.

10) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Don't take criticism from people you wouldn't take advice from. Don't exhaust yourself doing what you love by turning it into a chore. But most of all - and this applies both in art and in life - be patient with yourself.
Halfi out!
Mayla
1) Can you tell us about yourself?

Hi there! I'm Mayla.

I'm from Maine in the US, I'm 20 as of writing in Aug 2023 and I use She/Her pronouns. I Don't really like to reveal too much about my personal life on the internet, so I'll just get into it already.

I Have been in the Garry's Mod community for quite a while, but I didn't start my first forays into artwork until about a year into owning the game. I had been posting screenshots for pretty much the past 7 years, up until a burnout in late 2020. I would post here and there but they didn't have as much love put into them as I had been doing in the past. I started posting again recently and I honesty have no idea how I got burnt out after doing it again after so long. I mostly doing CGI Star wars stuff right now but I want to slowly branch out and do more soon. I'm relatively new to the "new" Scenebuilding community so please treat me well!
2) Why do you make artworks?

That's a really good question with many different answers. If you asked me 7 years ago, I probably would have just said it was fun. 5 years ago probably would have been something like, immortalizing the fun times I'm having with my friends on SWRP. Now I do it because I like to think I'm good at it. It gives me a creative outlet to express myself and that's what I enjoy most about it, even if the quality of the product isn't good.
3) What inspired you to start making artworks?

Its been so long that I honestly couldn't tell you. My very first one I think just happened to be something I did when I was bored, while playing on an old NPC killing map.
4) How long have you been making artworks?

Since at least Jan 27, 2014 @ 8:51pm, that's when my first ever one is timestamped. Modern Scenebuilding on the other hand was in 2020 when I did my first experiment with light bounce and making my own terrain creating "Knight Time"
5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?

I used to use Photoshop on a student subscription, but since that ran out I have been using Photopea. Other than that only Garry's Mod itself and its many wonderful workshop contributors items.

6) What do you like the most about making art?

Like I stated before It gives me a creative outlet, I also just really like tricking people with forced perspective. Like this one as an example.
This was the backdrop of one of the artworks above. There's just something about it that's really fun.
7) What do you hate the most about making art?

The only issues I have are with my game itself. Infrequent engine errors, Sometimes opening the wrong spawn list addon tab will crash the game, spawning the wrong thing in search could crash my game, ETC. I could go on but I rest my case.

8) What are you planning for the future?

I want to expand into doing things with other series, right now I'm just doing things with CGI clone wars troopers for the most part.
9) Favourite artwork you've made?

I have two actually

The first one I prefer to keep this one hidden due to certain events surrounding it, so this is the only place you will see it. This was made at a time when I wasn't too advanced with my scenes, just finding a cool spot on a map and setting up some three point lighting. I think it fits the feel of not too realistic and feels possible by anyone given enough time in-game.

Second, I have less to say about but I just really like it and it was my first kind of "experiment" with overlays like snowfall.
10) People you'd like to thank?

Accapella, Skipper, Blu, Valor, Sharpeye, Cloaker, and the rest of the 501st boys. They were integral to me sticking to Scenebuilding and I probably would not have been here today if they never encouraged me.
Olmate Ubafest. If it weren't for his first lightbounce video I never would have started doing it.

My school friends that have been there the whole time I've been doing this.

Last but certainly not least. The unknown people who stop by to rate images on anyone's profiles.
11) Any tips for beginners?

Don't go overboard. Start simple, if you start with advanced stuff your gonna burn yourself out quickly. I suggest starting in the gm_construct dark room, making head shots or mini Scenes with some three point lighting. I have plenty of these in my Garry's Mod screenshots, so if you'd like to see some examples they are there if you scroll down a little.(Even if the lighting isn't too good on a lot of them...)
12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?

Thank you for reading all this, I hope I gave you some decent advice or even some inspiration!

My steam.
Twitter

1) Can you tell us about yourself?

Uhm- hiya! Names often for me go as just Meta or Metal. Whichever kind you like though it's almost the exact same thing. I'm a boyo who makes art primarily on Garry's Mod, and is starting to venture out onto digital and taking my mind on drawing. This community and along with that other communities related to this- such as SFM, TF2, etc I've stuck with for the longest time in this platform, and I just eventually grew with making Gmod art from there.

2) Why do you make artworks?

I think years back it just simply was because I saw posters on steam- specifically with SFM and Garry's Mod and other community content and I just thought "wow this s-hit is weird and cool all at the same time- i wanna do this". A lot of time has passed though and I often make posters to let my mind free often, explore and be experimental with my stuff which is why I'm looking more into drawing now.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
More of who inspired me to make Garry's Mod stuff, it was mainly just those smexuals people made way back then, DasBoSchitt, Mecha4th, Eltorro64Rus, and in general the majority of the SFM and GMOD community like- probably back in 2013 - 2014.

4) How long have you been making artworks?

I've been making Garry's Mod content for about 5 - 6 years I believe, but during this year I've been considering to have this be my last year for GMod. Not 100% on that yet tho.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
I've swapped a lot on programs I use to make my content on lol. Used to be Picmonkey with friends of mine too that we're probably just too poor w/ me, to buy photoshop. Ironically though rn I use paint. net.

6) What do you like the most about making art?

You can let your mind run almost rampant free when making art. And if you don't like the result of what you made, there's always room for improvement. I think that's kind of why I've been venturing out to use other places to make art on. Garry's Mod although it's exceptional with it's tools, still has it's limits.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Pressing Z by accident. There's probably more but that's for SURE the first thing that comes into mind.

8) What are you planning for the future?
I've actually been looking a little into music recently and I wanna give it a shot. I think with what I often have into mind, learning the art of tunes and chords and voices, I feel like I could have a good fitting there aand with that too I feel like I have quite a voice, maybe not melodically rn but

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

This one imo even without me knowing that the commands "poster 4" or 2 existed, I think this one was probably one of my best. Just came out so clean- BUT, with what I'm currently cooking up rn this can probably change. Hopefully, I honestly can't even say myself.

10) People you'd like to thank?
Widderen and I go back a LOOONG way, so I kinda made this journey to here with him to where we are now, and some others I'm still with. Also thankful to those other fellow Gmodders and those who've kinda moved away from the game, Y'know who you are. ;)

11) Any tips for beginners?
Stay away from Bloom, collar bones exist and Advanced Lighting Entities > Soft Lamps.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?

I have the Cob Cannons. You don't. I win. Also have a good one. <3

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?

Photoshop CS6 for editing and sfm or Gmod for ya know the art process

6) What do you like the most about making art?

its relaxing you can just turn on some music and relax while making a picture

7) What do you hate the most about making art?

this might be cliche but art block HAS to be the worst thing about art you either get no ideas for art
or you finally get one and you just cant make it look good

8) What are you planning for the future?

well for the future im thinking of doing less art based stuff and more SFM animation stuff

in making any kind of art
Mortis
1) Can you tell us about yourself?
My Profile
Hey there, the name's Mortis (No, my real name isn't Mortis although I wish it was.). I come from West Yorkshire in England, and have been known by many names, most notably "British Tw*t". I make a whole lotta GMOD artworks, and do quite a bit of my own modelling work in Blender for said artworks.
2) Why do you make artworks?
Well, one big reason would be simply because I find making artworks to be relaxing and fun, and it gives me a great opportunity to give characters I've imagined for years to life. But also simply because I want to make people happy with my art.
3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
This is a tough one, lots of things have inspired me really. I guess one big inspiration would've just been seeing other people making art, bringing their characters to life, it really made me want to try being like them.
4) How long have you been making artworks?
I've been making GMOD artworks for a little over a year now!
5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Other than GMod, I use paint . net for some post editing such as adding watermarks and some other things like bloom. I guess you could also say Blender, since the majority of character models I use are modelled by myself with it.
6) What do you like the most about making art?
I really love how making art allows me to bring the characters I've been imagining for years to life, giving them an actual identity, more than just a sight in my mind. Seeing them in front of me, being expressive brings the warmest feeling to my heart.
7) What do you hate the most about making art?
One thing I hate is the feeling of anxiety when making art, the worry that people won't like it. And I especially hate it when people hate on my work for immature reasons, I can take constructive criticism, but not when you simply harass me for liking something.
8) What are you planning for the future?
I'm studying in college in a "Computing for Creative Industries" course, hopefully gonna get a career in programming and just computing in general.
9) Favourite artwork you've made?
VERY tough one this is. I love every single artwork I make equally, but I'll just put a few I really love.
10) People you'd like to thank?
It's namedrop time, baby.
I wanna thank Lacie, DarkLonestar, Flores, and Neek Botchliz.
These mates have been ever so supportive of my work, and I can't thank them enough!
11) Any tips for beginners?
Just keep experimenting with tools and stuff, find good methods to make art creating more easy for you. Also, look at guides for advice, you've got to really want to make some art. Do your homework. xD

1) Can you tell us about yourself?

Oh sure I can! My name is Mr.Black. I joined steam in 2014 and my interests have been mostly in TF2 and Hyperdimension Neptunia. I'm a 25-year-old anime fan from Finland. I'm interested in old cars and 80's music, but also in old video games. I'm a Retro Guy :3

My Profile: https://steamcommunity.com/id/matturi
2) Why do you make artworks?
Making artworks is a great hobby, and I really enjoy doing it.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
The animations created by Garry's Mod, particularly those by kitty0706 and his Team Fabulous 2, as well as StBlackst and a friend who went by the name Spatio, are truly remarkable and deserve recognition for their creativity and entertainment value.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
Since 2015 :3

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Primarily, I only utilize Garry's Mod itself. Occasionally, I may employ Photoshop when necessary, particularly in instances where shadows appear highly pixelated.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
Engaging in humorous expressions and utilizing face poser to create amusing facial expressions.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Well, only when you have been working on a bigger project and the poses are good, but you accidentally press "R," and the model will collapse, and you have to start all over.

8) What are you planning for the future?
Keep making art and learning more secrets of Garry's Mod! :3

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
This one is difficult. But I guess this one.

10) People you'd like to thank?
Thanks Lord Intruso for including me here, it means a lot to me.
And to all the amazing people who have supported me on my Gmod journey.

11) Any tips for beginners?
To create excellent posters, I recommend consulting the helpful guides available on the Garry's Mod guides section. Consistent practice will undoubtedly enhance your skills. Additionally, utilizing reference images can be incredibly beneficial. The Ragdoll Mover addon is essential, and Soft Lamps and Advanced Lamps are also highly recommended.
12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Keep doing the things you love, because we only live once.
You've been given a beautiful life, one where you can do amazing things and show the world how incredible it can be.
Mr.Ronald
Thank you for inviting me!
1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Me
Hey, I'm Ronald. My hobby is doing gmod artworks and drawing in real life. I wanna become an artist one day. Like painting and able to draw anything.

2) Why do you make artworks?
I never had planned to make artworks in the first place. When i was new to steam, I bought Gmod. because a long time ago i saw this youtube channel called "gamertag" playing gmod with his friends, which he has deleted all his video, but luckily someone archived it. It's really sad because this channel recently popped up in my mind and later to find out all his videos are gone.

Here's the channel that archived his gmod videos :
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCipd2WEH3yihVde-WG1z0UA

To sum it all up, i bought gmod to have fun instead of making artworks now.

⬇️ This next question explains how i got into making artworks.
_______________________________________________________________________________
3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
This was made in April 3rd, 2016. This is the first artwork actually screenshot. I made. I discovered that I can actually pose ragdolls in the game. which later on, influenced me to continue doing it. Also here's my confession from the past : I always post my screenshot links to friends messages in hope of getting likes, favourites and comments. To the point my friends think I'm annoying as ♥♥♥♥.
_______________________________________________________________________________
4) How long have you been making artworks?
For almost 4 years.
_______________________________________________________________________________
5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
At first, I really didn't use any programs to edit my artworks, but one day. I decided to use a program called "Firealpaca" and "Gimp". I use almost every artwork to edit with firealpaca now. But I rarely use Gimp, since it's too complicated to me. Only use it to crop a greenscreen picture.
_______________________________________________________________________________
6) What do you like the most about making art?
Posing the ragdolls and making colourful lightings.
______________________________________________________________________________
7) What do you hate the most about making art?
When your game crashes and accidentally unfreezing the ragdolls.
_______________________________________________________________________________
8) What are you planning for the future?
I've been thinking about becoming an artist one day in real life, not sure if I will stop making "artworks" one day.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
1.
2.
3.
4.
I chose these 4 images because they were magically enhanced by the power of editing software.

10) People you'd like to thank?
I would like to thank Doctor Strange and Hunter yap (Which are also in this guide) for showing me that there are other members like me making artworks.

11) Any tips for beginners?
Required addons for beginners :
1. This can be difficult to use for the first time, that is why i added number 2 and number 5. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=202241938
2. This one is VERY useful if the models are
stiff and not flexible. But remember to freeze the place you want to pose with this tool for the ragdoll (eg. freeze the whole arms, legs' bones by right clicking with the physics gun.)
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=104575630
3. Quick and easy to change bodygroups for certain ragdolls. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=104604943
4. For putting cosmetics on tf2 characters. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=170917418
5. This one is very helpful for new players trying to pose ragdolls for the first time. But don't rely on it too much or you'll never improve. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=104576786
6. Way better than the default light and lamp tool https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=493751477&searchtext=Advanced+lighting

My personal experiences.
1. I would like to say that you need to at least have a powerful PC or Laptop to run what you're doing in Garry's mod. Like for instance, high shading and max anti aliasing can decrease your fps while working. (My laptop isn't great but I know it can take a "pounding")

2.I've seen so many people make mistakes while making artworks, and that is the camera FOV. I'm pretty sure some people don't know about the zoom in / zoom out feature for the camera tool. So here it is.

This is the default pov when you pull out your camera tool (Lots of empty space and it just looks wrong)

You can zoom in by holding right button of the mouse and moving it forward (Less empty space and more focus on the character)

And you can zoom out by doing the same thing but moving it backwards (Can cause distortion)

3.If you want to improve on posing ragdolls, you MUST use references to help you do it and know how it looks like, just like drawing.
_______________________________________________________________________________
12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
If you're interested in doing it, just go and do it. However, it takes time to be comfortable with everything in Garry's mod. If you keep on trying and trying, you will slowly succeed. Your option is to be very patient and hard-working. (I know my quote sounds like every single teacher giving a motivational speech to his/her class. But this really applies to everything you want to do.)

10) People you'd like to thank?
I'd say the whole Gmod family.
11) Any tips for beginners?
Hmmm i'd say after you learn the basics(posing, finger posing etc),spent some time on lighting as it could change you're entire poster from something very rushed to something that is truly amazing.
12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Gmodding is truly hard to learn but once mastered you can truly make masterpieces,so never give up my guys!

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
I'd love to. Hello, I'm a experimental artist who enjoys different lighting and posing techniques.
2) Why do you make artworks?
I make them for people. If even one person enjoys my art, it's worth it.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
Popular artists like BlaBla and Olmate Ubafest would be my inspirations for artwork.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
I've been making art since 2017, and I've still never lost the child-like enjoyment of making it that I got when I first started out.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Garry's Mod ( obviously ), and Photoshop.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
My personal opinion would be the reactions I get after creating art pieces of people's characters for them. It gives me a sense of satisfaction and pride.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Software crashes would be most prevalent in my list of things I hate. Just working so hard on a piece only for your software to crash and lose all that progress.

8) What are you planning for the future?
Like most artists I hope to improve. To become more experienced and perhaps one day help new artists improve.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
Here are a few of my personal favorites.
10) People you'd like to thank?
Those who have influenced me most would be people like Olmate Ubafest, BlaBla, and Chicken Burger.

11) Any tips for beginners?
Ask around in popular Garry's Mod servers for tools that help with your style and guides on how to use them.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Keep doing whatever hobby you consider fun, don't be discouraged and always try new things!

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Hey I’m Paz. I’m from Australia and I make scenebuild renders on Gmod editing afterwards on Photoshop.

2) Why do you make artworks?
I make artworks as a hobby and I also take inspiration from certain thematics and designs commonly seen in digital art.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
I’ve been making artworks since I was young through drawings and sketches where my liking for art evolved from there. With Source art I was inspired by the works of others especially Vioxtar and Tesser who kept breaking the boundaries of what Source could do, thus I aimed to achieve the same fidelity within my own works.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
As far as Source art I’ve been making works since mid 2018 and have been developing my technique since.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
I use Photoshop alongside a few effect plugins. I also use AI softwares such as upscalers or denoisers.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
I like the ability to express my mind and creativity within a visual medium that others enjoy viewing. I also get a sense of accomplishment when I use these skills which gives me great satisfaction.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Keeping up with Source Engine’s quirks such as long wait times, repeating tasks that would otherwise be overlooked in other rendering softwares.

8) What are you planning for the future?
I plan to release an in depth tutorial in creating convincing reflections with Source; something very much desired yet lacking in available information. I will also be releasing (hopefully) a bunch of videos to make it more accessible and easier to view, however I’ve been short on finding a considerable amount of time to dedicate myself. As far as art in the far future goes, I plan on branching out possibly to digital painting and/or Blender but right now I’m learning some other CAD based softwares.

9) Favourite artwork/s you've made?
My favourite work would have to be The Division which has been inspired by the game Tom Clancy’s The Division. I couldn’t help myself when I found out those Manhattan Bridge props existed. The build took over 48 hours to complete within the span of a few months, was rendered on 2 seperate shots and stitched together as a panorama afterwards.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1778537446
It was also one of my most liked works and was featured in Ubisoft’s community updates.

As far as other works I feel like these are my top picks:

10) People you'd like to thank?
I’d like to thank the people who constantly devote their time making Source artworks keeping the community thriving for the crazy amount of years Gmod has been around. I’d also like to thank Vioxtar who developed a lot of the rendering capabilities for Garry’s Mod as well as his guides that kept fueling me to achieve more realism from Source.

11) Any tips for beginners?
Start with getting used to softlamps and take a deep look into Vioxtar’s softlamps guide[docs.google.com]. Once you feel as if you’re comfortable with using this tool, move towards the lightsprayer tool and learn how to create proper lightbounce and sky passes (There are tutorial videos you can reference). Also keep your editing consistent and remember everything takes time before you can achieve results that seem desirable.

Piggo

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Hi, i'm Piggo. I live in North England and love photo/video editing, firearms and smoking.

2) Why do you make artworks?
Hobby, for fun. That's literally it but honestly I get more enjoyment from what other people make.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
Espionage Wars on Facepunch, a military roleplay thread that's moved over to RPNation.com.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
4 years. 2016 to 2020, still going as of 2020.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Garry's Mod
Photoshop
Thats it

6) What do you like the most about making art?
The mixing and matching of models from many different games.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Lack of creativity, Splatoon, FNAF, MLP, Furries and anyone who refuses to learn or improve their modelling or art.

8) What are you planning for the future?
Make tutorials for art, already got one done about kitbashing.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
Don't have one, unironically.

10) People you'd like to thank?
Olmate Ubafest

11) Any tips for beginners?
DON'T USE SOFT LAMPS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE ACTUALLY DOING WITH THEM
START WITH ADVANCED LIGHT ENTITES
DON'T USE GM_FLATGRASS FOR SCENEBUILDS
DON'T USE NPCS
DON'T USE PRE-MADE ANIMATIONS

thats it
12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Just don't do anything involving MLP, Splatoon or FNAF and you'll be fine.

PjWrox
'Ey

1) Can you tell us about yourself?

Not much to tell, really- just a kid from the country side who likes playing games and making art.

2) Why do you make artworks?

Short answer: It's fun.

Slightly longer answer: it's a great way to get your ideas out there, and there's nothing more satisfying than seeing everything fall into place. Be it getting that pose just right, or nailing the lighting, it feels good to make something you're proud of.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?

Other GModders, mostly. Seeing some of the stuff others made was inspiring. And it was- well, it wasn't easy, but it was accessible. And for 13-14 yr old me, accessible was what I was looking for.

4) How long have you been making artworks?

Well I said I was 13 or 14 when I started, so that means I started making artworks in... 2017-ish? Maybe 2018.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?

Other than GMod, I tend to do extra edits and post-processing with Gimp. Though I'm starting to add Krita to my repertoire.

6) What do you like the most about making art?

Probably satisfaction that comes with completing a piece. But if you wanna know my favorite part of the process, I'm gonna say the lighting. It can be a pain in the neck, but there are so many styles and techniques that can completely change the mood and look of your image. It's fun to play with.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?

Honestly? I'm gonna have to say the posing. It's fun, don't get me wrong. But if I wanna use the full range of flexibility, I use Joint Tool, which takes... let's just say it takes a bit longer.

8) What are you planning for the future?

I can't say yet. I'm hoping to get a gig in 2D animation someday- specifically as a clean up artist. But only time will tell.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

Not sure if I have an absolute favorite, but here are a few I'm still proud of.

10) People you'd like to thank?

Doctor Strange is a bully good friend who's been super encouraging while I learned the more nuanced aspects of GModding. He does some great work, too; check him out if you have the time.

The Freakin' Scout's A Spy has been supportive of me for a long time now and is responsible for a few of my custom ragdolls.

11) Any tips for beginners?

If you want to use only a specific part of a cosmetic instead of the whole thing, use the Animated Prop tool. Spawn the prop, select it with Joint Tool, then bonemerge the prop to the ragdoll. You can use Joint Tool to then shrink the desired bones.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?

GMod's a good example of easy to learn, difficult to master. You wanna make good posters, don't expect to start making masterpieces after only a week.

Just like 2D artwork, everyone has their own signature style. Even when using the same models as everyone else, there are a lot of things you can do to make your work yours.
PootisWizard
1) Can you tell us about yourself?
If the title didn't give it away, the name's PootisWizard, but sometimes people call me by my OC's name: Blu. Currently 19 years of age at the time of writing this, and in my last year of Homeschooling. I live in Houston, Texas, and have been doing Gmod since 2013 (year of purchase). I also animate from time to time and do crossovers.

2) Why do you make artworks?
I like to express my imagination and creativity, what more to say then that?

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
While not any artists... it actually started from Gmod Animators, namely the legend, Kitty0706.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
2013, but I did take a long break till sometime in April 2014, when I was working on some animations and creating thumbnails for them.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Gmod if it wasn't obvious, but everyone knows that. I use Photoshop to edit stuff in post production.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
Expressing creativity and potential of my works, more or less the "Interaction". Also, I love to make artwork of my friends, for my friends.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Procrastination, Distractions, working in the middle of said poster, then former 2 happen, Posing (Face, Finger, General), Ideas, actually trying to get the lighting right, When a 'former' friend is an enemy to another friend, and I don't know if I should include them, being late, forgetting to save, crashing, the long loading times due to an absurd amount of addons (I have +4k fyi, but ~80 of them are deleted addons), and most importantly: LAZINESS

8) What are you planning for the future?
Continue animating, making posters, and working on the "Biggest" crossover yet.
I do know that this poster is still a WIP, but this is as far as I got to work on.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
While maybe to me not might be my best, I enjoyed making these

10) People you'd like to thank?
Everyone in my discord server, the people in the UGOY, and of course, the big man himself,
Intruso
for allowing me to be here. (And the legend, Kitty0706).

11) Any tips for beginners?
I'm sure a lot of people have said it already here in their own sections, but might as well:
Practice Makes Perfection
Too much stress? Listen to music, helps me out, short breaks work too
Use some of the recommended tools such as Ragdoll Mover for example
Use soft lamps IF, and only IF, you know how to work them

Poop hahaha... funny poop, poop funny!

1) Can you tell us about yourself?

A humble creative personality of adolescence (at the time of writing this), who loves to create arts in GMOD and drawing. I am Russian by nationality - I mean that despite my good knowledge of English, my knowledge of it is still small, so do not be surprised if I say some nonsense, maybe I just could not speak correctly without a Chrome Translator.
Despite disagreeing with some art themes, I am quite neutral about this, although sometimes I can express my negative attitude about it (Perhaps I am contradicting myself here).

2) Why do you make artworks?

This is a truly pleasant hobby, for which I had a certain talent, the development of which was and is a pleasure to watch. I do not believe that such an occupation can be something easy, but it does not cause me much difficulty.
Although no one cancels the fact that all the complexity is drowned out by the pleasure that I feel during the creation of new artworks.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?

Well, I was prompted to create GMOD arts by my first best friend. No, he didn't ask me to make arts, he just started making it himself. They were honestly not very good in quality, but the fact that he could just go into the game, and without much effort start doing something like that interested me, I also started trying to do all sorts of pictures in Garry's Mod, without competition, just for fun, and eventually came to this result.
In addition, this is also the reason why I bought the Garry's Mod and gave up trying to master the SFM.

4) How long have you been making artworks?

To be honest, I didn't keep track of the my time, but based on my first screenshot (I originally came to GMOD for the sake of creativity, so no matter how terrible it was, this is my very first artwork), I can say that I started around 28.03.2018, and I've been doing this for a little more than two years.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?

Garry's Mod.

There is no mention of this, but first I tried to master the SFM. For me, it was quite difficult, even though I understood the principles of work. I wanted to create cool SFM animations, due to which, however, I met the TF2, until one day my friend accidentally introduced me to the Garry's Mod. And although I haven't started making full-fledged animations, I still have time, and my artworks I have already created can give quite positive hopes.

6) What do you like the most about making art?

What exactly do I like about creating art? Everything!
Despite possible, but rare failures, the process itself and its aspects captivate you throughout the creation of artworks. No matter how long a job is done, while you are engaged in it, time flies by. And after completing the task, it is very nice to watch what you have created.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?

I didn't like the lack of ideas and enthusiasm I described above. It is sad when you are waiting for new discoveries of your talent, but physically you just stand still.

8) What are you planning for the future?

When I started making arts in Garry's Mod, I didn't think that I could achieve such results, and just did what I liked to do. I have never thought about making any serious plans in this direction, but I would be very happy to develop further. I am sure that in the future I will be able to be better due to the fact that I develop and develop my talents almost always.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

10) People you'd like to thank?

(I want to apologize in advance to my friends that I didn't mention in this section. Each of you has contributed to me and my work, and I may not mention all of you, but I care about each of you)

Sid Sokolov (https://steamcommunity.com/id/SidSokolov)
My first best friend before we both started making arts. Most likely now he ceases to be a TF2 player and GMODer, but does not cease to be my friend.

36R49 (https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198374028945)
A shy and sweet kid whose arts is much better than he describes it. Maybe he does not come out TF2 better than I do (according to him), but it is much more promising in other directions.

💙♊KiTTSU♊💙 (https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198403482436)
An unusual, but close and similar to me person, with whom it is very nice to chat on topics that you cannot talk about with adequate friends. :)

Dakasin (https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198361531086)
A very interesting and intriguing person, with whom it is very pleasant to talk about creativity and current topics. A nice SFM'er whose plans do not include creating porn.

MR. Fantom (https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198369767958)
Shy and modest guy, with whom it's nice to create all sorts of stuff in GMOD.

All of these friends have something to do in Garry's Mod or Art in General, so I'm always happy to watch their success and support them during failures.

11) Any tips for beginners?

I don't think I can give you any universal advice that can lead you to success, but... Based on my experience, I can say that if you really have a desire to engage in arts, then most likely it already leads you to success! Overcoming all the difficulties and failures will not seem difficult to you if you are really eager to create new things and learn something new. Mastering any skill is truly exciting.
The only thing I want from everyone - Do your best, but don't overdo it. Put your heart and soul into what you do, such art has a high value. The invested efforts of a person are not difficult to see, such arts deserve attention and respect.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?

I will be sincerely pleased that you have read all of the above! I am not sure that I could give you any really useful advice in your endeavors if you are an inexperienced artworker. But maybe I was able to motivate you to do what you like. Thank you for paying attention to my section, I will be sincerely glad that you really were not bored to read.

My Profile: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198258839290

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Hi, my name is RiFFU, also known as ------. I am 17 years old, a little interested in space and have nothing more to tell :P

2) Why do you make artworks?
Well, this is my hobby, although inspiration comes once a month, or twice. I often make posters related to the game TF2, but I also sometimes make posters not related to this game (diversity).

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
I often saw other people's work done in the game Gmod. And over time I tried to do, but compared to the initial posters and posters to date, it's a big difference.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
You can say not very much, soon it will be 2 years since I make posters.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Photoshop and Gmod.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
I like it best when I make a poster for a very long time. And over time, I see a lot of likes and positive reviews for this long work.
The time was well spent

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
I don't see the point in hating my posters, because everyone learns from mistakes.

8) What are you planning for the future?
I will develop myself in photoshop and make posters related to TF2.
And develop your work skills, compared to D.Strange or BlaBla.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

10) People you'd like to thank?
I want to say a big thank you to my best friends:
DiFFU, Jamsch, Torigoto, M.S.D.H, Intruso, Doctor Strange, Chaderz (PAINT't team), David The Coffee Craver, 36R49, Puthison, Redino, Le Bruhe?, Dakasin, Empress Hellfire and others. They supported me through difficult times and appreciated my posters.

11) Any tips for beginners?
If you have just started making posters, then I will say right away, it is a matter of practice, that is, it is unlikely that you will immediately make a poster compared to posters made by me or Intruso (and other good Gmodder).
You also need inspiration, without inspiration, it is unlikely that something good will happen.
Ignore those who are your art, or the alleged name-calling critics. They don't require any attention. (Of course there are exceptions to some posters).

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
See you later, I think this guide has made your morning, day or night more informative and exciting.

Finally, I want to show the posters that were the very first and until today:

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
I come from a small village in Czechia. I enjoy making artworks using Garry's Mod and editing them afterwards in GIMP. I love reading, playing video games (lately RDR2, Hitman, Half Life franchise) and listening to music.

2) Why do you make artworks?
It is a form of an escapism to me. I enjoy seeing people enjoying my art. It fills me with pride and a warm feeling. It's great.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
Funny gmod videos from 2011/2012. Got Gmod from parents in 2013 and started exactly the same as in the videos but then found out I can pose and do stuff. I shared my stuff on Facepunch forums. Peeps there helped me out and showed me what is possible within Garry's Mod using it as an artistic medium. And here I am doing exactly that and I hope I will be there as long as possible along with Garry's Mod.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
It is 8 years now. Spent a good chunk of my life dedicating it to community which I have grown up around and Garry's Mod. Both consuming thousands upon thousands of hours. I'd say it's worth it as any experience.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
The only program I use for editing is GIMP. A not-so-powerful cousin of Photoshop due to not having as much plugins Photoshop offers and professionalism. But it'll do the job in most cases unless you are a needy feller.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
As I said earlier, it is the feeling of joy when people seem to like my art and leave nice critique, likes or any sort of rating or kind comment. Really pushes you to go make some more.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Never have I ever stumbled upon something that would make me hate something about the creating of art in Garry's Mod. It is usually just bad assets or models that slow down my work flow but it's a thing that is just a small obstacle.

8) What are you planning for the future?
For the future I plan to stick with the community and Garry's Mod and who knows, maybe I will move to a different engine or a software more suitable for making artworks. Time will tell.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
My most favourite artwork I've made might be my latest series of artworks inspired by Half Life: Alyx and a few other ones. Can't say I have one of my own favourites.

Facepunch's Garry's Mod subforum. The people I met there and talk to them to this day even when Facepunch died out and keep me company and help me and enjoy my stuff. Also to this community and people outside it for enjoying my art. It is a pleasure, an honour but mainly, it is my passion.

Thanks to you.

11) Any tips for beginners?
Stop talking bad about your stuff. Sure, there's always room for critique but do not put yourself down. And practice and try different approaches. Try to get in contact with people from the community that makes artworks, me or anyone else will do our best to help you out. We truly are thankful when someone asks us.

Sλndwich
1) Can you tell us about yourself?
I don't rlly have to show some of my peronal info such as my IRL stuffs, so let's just get into this.

I'm Sλndwich. Kinda a bit of random name i choose from a food, Well it's pretty much that back then i had no ideas on what username i would go for, also sandwich is one of my favorite light meal. After i made several Gmod screenshots and gain some rate up, and even some people recognize my picture i decided to keep my username like this. Also at some point i replace the "a" with a Lambda Symbol in my username because Half-Life was one of those memorable game i played, it was a non-steam version.

Also i'm not rlly guy who's from a country that mainly speak English so pls my apology or don't really mind any grammar mistake here.

2) Why do you make artworks?
Making Gmod Screenshots and Artworks feel like a hobby, like playing video games. Of course i also have other hobbies IRL.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
It's not rlly "What inspired me" but it's "Who inspired me" to start making Gmod stuffs. I want to give a shoutout to a old friend of mine who got me started into Gmod.

https://steamcommunity.com/id/newcourierbutterfly21

4) How long have you been making artworks?
can't rlly remember, but i think i was around 2014/2015 when i got into gmod.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
pretty much Gmod (duh). Well not just that, i sometimes make comics by using MS Paint, or GIMP.

I also do some digital drawings, which most of them i upload them to DeviantArt.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
Well... idk, but just as i stated on the second question, it's feel like one of my hobbies, and it's all just for fun.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Mostly lack of motivations/ideas, and sometimes having problems with lighting and shadow, and even whatever cause the game to crash without me saving a single progress.

8) What are you planning for the future?
Well i'm about to be graduated from Senior High, and will be going to College or University. Kinda a bit shaken on how it will going, but i really hope my future will be succesful.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
Well, i have alot of pictures which i'm to include them as my own faves so i'm gonna showcase some of'em here.

10) People you'd like to thank?
Sure, my old friend that i mentioned on the third question for got me into doing Gmod pictures.
And also alot of other Gmodders i met and befriend with in Steam and Deviantart.

And a very special thanks to Intruso for giving me an opportunity to be involved here.

11) Any tips for beginners?
I'm not really that good at explaining things but i'm gonna try my best. There are alot of Guides out there. But i'm gonna share some guides that i know.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=416543631
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=312702943
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=403465301

Also i think doing Gmod posing with Physic and Ragdoll Mover is Self-Explanatory, you'll get better with the posing overtime.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Just gonna say "Thank you!" for reading my part here.

And also want to remind again sorry if my English grammar seems a bit misunderstanding.
SandwichPony
Hello!
I'm SandwichPony, just call me Sandwich for short.
(Just don't confuse me for the one with the Lambda above me :P)
1) Can you tell us about yourself?
I'm 17 and have been on Steam since mid 2014 I think? Before Steam, I knew what Valve made with their Source engine and created the three games that I fell in love with back when I was a younger lad: Portal, Team Fortress 2, and Garry's Mod

sucks to say Half Life was something I hardly knew snippets of back then, heh.

I'm a weeb, I guess I just like the artstyle, but I also like military and war stuff in general. Usually whenever I create art it's mostly more on the serious end, which can be sometimes odd considering I have the audacity to make stuff like this:

Consider this one as a lighting test please.

Reputation wise, I'm basically unknown, but I do like the people that just pass by to show interest in what I do!

2) Why do you make artworks?
Making Garry's Mod artwork is just fun in general, and I also feel like it's a media of art I can say that I'm pretty good at. There's something I like about just turning simple daydreams and ideas in my head into an actual visualization. Not only that, I'm given the freedom to do and choose whatever I like! Make a piece that looks like it takes place in a war torn apocalypse, make a crossover between TF2,that game everybody hates called Fortnite, pop-culture references, all sorts of things!

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
I really never had a quote unquote "main inspiration" when doing these types of things. I guess I found posing things in Garry's Mod to create a scene, and then taking a picture of said scene, to just be something I naturally did when I was younger.

Eventually I started checking out the art section around 2015-2016 and I was amazed at the type of work people could make just by using Garry's Mod to it's limit and a little bit of Photoshop on the side.
Vioxtar's Server Dust series was the one thing that started to interest me in GMOD artwork, how could people produce such high quality art just in a game known for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with friends?

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=779526341
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=745612722

And eventually, I decided to start taking GMOD scenes a bit more seriously.

The two pieces that was used as a test for blood models, which eventually got me to start posing more seriously:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1100883497

4) How long have you been making artworks?
I've been doing artwork ever since 2014 when I first got my hands on Garry's Mod.

Here are some of the stuff I did back when I was in late elementary school:

Middle School

And now the era you're currently looking at right now. (At the time of reading this)
High School

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Garry's Mod and Photoshop.

That's it.

Though I'm still trying to get the hang of Photoshop, got it recently and getting the basics of it could help with my art in the future.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
I'd say seeing the finished product itself. Spending hours making a scenebuild and seeing everything come together is really satisfying.

But in general, I like doing art because it's fun as hell.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Roadblocks.

You ever just want to do like a dozen pieces of art in the timespan of the week? Same here
Unfortunately, his bastard stabs that plan in the back!

Sometimes you'll run into something that just doesn't work right in your image. Your idea of the image didn't work, so now you'll have to think of solutions to those problems. What may look like an easy project can turn into an entire dreadful day of problem solving that may affect how you view the final product.

8) What are your plans for the future?
I don't really have any high end-goals since I just hate thinking about the future so much. Ones I had in mind were expanding towards less serious artwork, TF2 artwork, and maybe do try and do the other spectrum of art and try to get to the quality of pieces I see on the front page of the art section.

9) Favourite artwork(s) you've made?
At this rate my favorites have either changed constant or have become multiple, but I did enjoy making these ones the most:

11) Any tips for beginners?
When you start out doing stuff like this, do not expect it to be the same quality as many of us in here. Gmod art like everything else is in itself a skill. Ever wonder why you're able to be good at so many video games yet when you lend the controls to someone like your dad they play terribly?

You gotta take account for many liberties such as posing, camera composition, lighting, and that isn't a very easy task at first.

Ask us for help in case you need it. There's a ton of guides both on YT and here but some artists here are friendly enough to give out advice and tips!

PS:
USE REFERENCE POSES, it applies to literally anything art-related!

10) People you'd like to thank?
I'd like to give a special shoutout to Olmate Ubafest for making his guide on Soft Lamps and Lightbouncing, alongside his speedbuilds:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHmzIrej8Pw&t=217s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebKgokxWvbU
Although I haven't done anything related to the first video yet, it sure as hell encouraged me that scenebuilds are nothing to be afraid of.

Another shoutout to all GMOD animators out there (As far back as Kitty0706 and DasBoSchitt, to modern ones such as Antoine Delak and That Gray Cartoon Pony).
And I'd most definitely like to thank Intruso for inviting me to be included in this guide, I'm very glad that someone introduced me to the large community of other GMOD artists out there!

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
I'd like to say thanks for taking the time to read my section, I kinda have a bad habit of feeling like people just ignore me in general, but if you learned something, whether it was something trivial or a useful tip, I'll be glad to know that you did!

SandwichPony (2024) WIP
2/17/2024

Hello again.

I'm still SandwichPony, checking in from the distant future of 2024, now as a much more different person that the one that first wrote their section in 2020. Just a little kudos to anyone that's somehow reading through this old list of artists that somehow managed to gain a following in such an extremely niche hobby on the internet, though you might've noticed the fact that this recent entry came out of nowhere, it being the only one with a year on the section header.

I don't even know if any new artists got added to this thing for a while, I remember it being updated with new folk a while back, but I highly doubt it's the same case for today, so don't try and beg to get a spot in here now, you had to be personally invited by whoever was the main writer for this guide and I highly doubt they still check it anymore. Personally, I wish a version 2 of this was created, I don't even know if half of these guys still actively do GMOD stuff anymore, though I know some of these names still do.

Especially Comrade Larry.

It's been 4 years and your art still looks like utter ♥♥♥♥ dude. Take your low quality crap to the screenshots section if you're still prioritizing chasing social media trends instead of improving on your work.

Another person that was on here was FLANC, who friended me shortly after I got invited to work on the encyclopedia. We hardly interacted, but I quietly observed them from afar. Dude no longer does Neptunia stuff, more sci-fi and interesting scenebuilds. I wish I talked more, because 4 years of being in a tight packed bubble of the "source artist community" kinda wears on yourself. I'm willing to bet they'd tell me to ♥♥♥♥ off or something if I tried messaging them again.

Anyways, enough rambling. You're probably wondering what's changed from when I first wrote my entry in 2020.

Can you tell us about yourself?
The aforementioned entry above this one was from 2020 and back when I was a 17 year-old in high school. Personally, I found getting invited to this entire thing as my first big step as being in the GMOD source artist community, I finally considered myself as a regular, now coexisting with other artists that I see on the artwork section on a weekly basis. Soon, I eventually found myself getting into more tight-knit source art communities and interacting with many of the soft lamp guys on this guide.

I am now currently 21 years old. I've graduated from high school and am on 3rd year of commun
Serj Ludex

Profile:
Here!

1) Can you tell us about yourself?

My real name is Alejandro, currently I live in Venezuela, I'm 23 years old, I consider myself someone friendly (as long as they are annoying), I like to listen to ambient music, I'm a fan of Cyberpunk and Mediaval style, I also like to combine both styles, although I have not done anything like that, I plan to do so at any time with time, currently I make a mod called: "MMOD: Tactical"
Half-Life 2, was the game that got me into this world and I feel lucky to be here.

2) Why do you make artworks?

They are a way to express myself, to bring out what I think and imagine, some things I do are funny, mostly the funny things I do are because I came up with them, but when it's something environmental or serious, I mostly do it because I dreamed it or because I've been thinking about it for a long time, doing artworks is a way to bring out what I imagine.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?

I would say that the music had to do, and not just any music, ambient music in the style of Skyrim, Gris, Nier: Automata, among others, have made my mind fly, I was looking for a way to express what I had in my mind and I just bumped into Garry's mod, see so many images created by fans motivated me to do so, so I decided to learn, over time I learned alone but also with the help of tutorials

4) How long have you been making artworks?

Well, I think for 7 years, only after a few years I started doing more and publishing more, because of high school I couldn't do as many as now.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?

Photoshop.

6) What do you like the most about making art?

see how everything is taking shape and looking better than I had in mind.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?

Sometimes Garry's Mod or Source FilmMaker have crashing.

8) What are you planning for the future?

Well, I want to be a screenwriter or writer, and create my stories, stories that I'm already writing from now on, only in my native language (Spanish) stories in which I combine the things I like, the medieval style, gentlemen, angels, modernization of the medieval style, instead of modern buildings, because we modern castles or towers with the futuristic style? that's the atmosphere or ambiance that I want to project in my stories.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

10) People you'd like to thank?

GazHelmet and Olmate Ubafest for their video guides.

11) Any tips for beginners?

Nobody here learned about this in one day, this is done with experience and as you go along, so do your Artworks

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?

Pursue your dreams, even if it is doing small things, you will see that those things will gradually grow and call the attention of people and they will see your talent.

Sir Jinny™
Sir Jinny™

Because sometimes I get bored and dunno what to do exactly for what people want, so I decided to make world for happiness.
3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
Mostly I do movie and anime references and game references such as:

  • TF2
  • and etc.
Sometimes I do funniest artworks like smexuals for example.
4) How long have you been making artworks?
Gee, It's hard to remember since I had a car accident Sept 10 2019. I think it would be either between 2014 or 2015.
5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
  • Mostly Gmod of course if I have better PC specs.

  • Finally, GIMP.
6) What do you like the most about making art?
Listening some music to impress me for my ideas, and to pose them right.
7) What do you hate the most about making art?
x2,376,290 game crash for my game is being stupid somehow, and some of rp maps do have slow frames which is idk why. Soooo much pain to make car pose with ragdoll inside of the car.
8) What are you planning for the future?
Hmmmmmmmmmmm, not sure for my future plan, soon I'll be graduate the University, learning about Cyber Security lesson, and modeling well.
9) Favorite artwork you've made?

Idk why i got so many likes.
10) People you'd like to thank?
Yakuza Merkitzi, Thank you so much for supporting our ideas to make the most historical references from our childhood games.

BurstMindlyOk, Thank you so much for teaching me how to make modeling stuff and work on gmod and customizing for cosmetics instead of PAC3.

E7ajamy, Thank you for helping having some issue for all models that I have, plus having issue with blender.

vandeman306 ya freaking psycho path, Thank you for teaching me for coloring for display to make look realistic *not really*, so i'll prove the coloring display and figuring out myself.
11) Any tips for beginners?
Yeah.. Focus on your computer specs if your gmod game will handle your computer, it has to be powerful because most of rp maps they use more than 60fps. Also, pose well.
12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Thanks for having interviewing me, Intruso. Question, where's the exit??
SkullCracker12
Some C-Grade Gmodder

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Hello There , my name is SkullCracker12 but you can refer me as SkullCracker or Skully. I'm a Garry's Mod artist like many of these other wonderful people. I mainly make TF2 related pictures and would feature my friends a lot. Unfortunately I don't have a lot artwork to display because I deleted majority of them after wanting to distance myself from TF2 after I was scammed. I'm represented by my green and black scout OC, he's like a mixture of the Flash and Genji. Feel free to add me and hang but please state your reason for adding. I'm a pretty geeky person so we can talk about movies, video games, TV shows and even comics.

I don't usually like to make pictures of my own character so here's a piece made by Widderen :

2) Why do you make artworks?
I always loved to doing/creating art. I love seeing TF2 artwork on Gmod and SFM; so to find out I can create artwork and "insert" myself to the community got me wanting to create content. It's very fun and I've made a lot of wonderful friends by being part of this community.
3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
My friends are amazing, funny, and supportive people so they are what got me started making content . Mainly IrRock , Sketch , L4D2Fan13 , and Firey Potato
4) How long have you been making artworks?
I've gotten into this gig since 2014
5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Just good old Garry's Mod and Photoshop
6) What do you like the most about making art?
I love creating and being able to express my creative and artistic chops. Creating moments with friends through art is cool.
7) What do you hate the most about making art?
I have a pretty bad computer so my artwork may not be as high detailed as I wanted to be. Plus the imagine looks at bit different depending on what computer you're viewing it on. My game lags a lot so sometimes I can't create something due to limitations. There are just somethings I can't achieve on Gmod such as dynamic posing or high quality pieces. Sometimes I got an idea, hop onto gmod, start posing, and then lose interests in the piece.
8) What are you planning for the future?
I can't say for sure but I just hope I'll still be in the gmod gig. I plan to get better at lighting and photoshoping so I can make better gmod pics.
9) Favourite artwork you've made?
This is a pretty recent entry to my gallery. This was my submission to an event on the TF2 GModders discord.

10) People you'd like to thank?
I want to thank my friends for being amazing and supporting people. I don't know what I'll do without them. I like to thank Intruso for letting me be part of this project. A big thanks to Widderen for teaching me and being very patient with me
11) Any tips for beginners?
It's not about the likes, it's about passion. It's okay to ask for help.
12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
I'm still learning and improving so thank you for your time :)
Smug Hatterene
1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Absolutely, I'm Smug Hatterene. Most would know me as Sexy Lurantis, and you're old as sin, you'd know me as MorbidMordin/Gardevoir. I've got a thing for Pokemon, Warhammer 40k, and some other things. I've been making Gmod art since the day I got it back in 2013.

2) Why do you make artworks?
Mostly for the fun of it, and the randomness of it. I can't sketch all that well and found this to be a better creative outlet, at least in my mind. Not much more to it.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
I assume the same as most people, the classic gmodders; Kitty0706(God rest), Rubberfruit, Th3Tig3r, etc. Found their stuff to be hilarious and wanted to make animations/art like them. Though my recent work can be traced back to another Gmodder who goes by Skoot. He made some nice comments on a few of my older pieces, and that kicked me into making some more art.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
Since day one, way back in March 2013. No idea what Bone Merger, or Ragdoll Mover, or even saving was back then. Oh sure they existed, but I was young and stupid. I had been watching gmod and tf2 animations since 2011.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Apart from Garry's Mod itself? Nothing. Its not easy, but its not hard either.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
Posing the models, setting down the props, trying to get the enviroment right. Also hiding stuff in the background. One of my favorites of those easter eggs, is me and a friend diving off a building.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Downloading a model and finding to have massive errors. That and moving a model with ragdoll mover, moving your mouse in a weird way and having the model fly off into oblivion. Doesn't relate to the art that much, but I'm not a fan of playermodels effectively taking over the workshop.

8) What are you planning for the future?
At the moment, nothing. Though I might end up making something if I get an idea.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

This is more or less the culmination of my effort. Also the last gmod image I posted for almost a year, until I came back to a meme from nearly two years ago. I consider it one of my best works.

This is my favorite, because I had the most fun with it. The atmosphere was a challenge to figure out. Lighting was also fun.

10) People you'd like to thank?
Sure, I'd like to thank Skoot, for giving me a good kick to get started again. Happy Heavy, for starting his group and keeping it up. Rubberfruit and the other oldies, for getting the ball rolling.

And I'd especially like to thank my old but very good friend, John, for showing me all of those old gmod videos. Hope you're doing well, wherever you are, whatever you're doing.

11) Any tips for beginners?
For the love of god, figure out lighting! It can be tedious, but it will really help with image quality. Also, download Ragdoll Mover. The physigun is fun, but its not the best for posing models.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Thanks to Intruso for making this collaboration.
therealflyguy
1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Hey there! Name's therealflyguy but most people call me Fly. I'm a retired Gmod artist that was in the art-making scene for about 5-6 years.

2) Why did you make artworks?
Originally I made art for fun and as an outlet for my creativity, but over time I made artworks to improve upon them. I spent countless hours trying to get the lighting and posing just right.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
I was mostly inspired to make my art from videogames, movies, and songs. I tried to make things that would replicate the way I felt watching/playing/listening to them. For example:

This is a re-creation of the box art for Half-Life 2

I made this one based on the third level in ABZÛ, one of my favorite games

And this one was inspired by listening to Dance With The Dead's "Banshee"

4) How long have you been making artworks?
I've been making art ever since I could hold a pencil, but I got into Gmod between 2014 and 2019.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
I mostly used Gmod and Paint.net for post process. Prior to that I used Picmonkey for a short time until I realized it was compressing my quality.

Also because I kind of went overboard with effects :/

6) What did you like the most about making art?
I liked the fact that I could basically do whatever I wanted in Gmod at the time. TF2 was the vessel for my creativity, so I used to make tons of characters using the base models and pose out stories with them. Unfortunately, I don't have any content that remains from my OC phase.

7) What did you hate the most about making art?
I hated that as time went on, I found myself trying to compete for likes instead of enjoying the artmaking process itself. Every time I would post something it quickly got buried beneath either more talented artists or meme artworks. I guess I fell out of artwork because at some point in time it felt like I was competing more for likes than anything.

8) What are you planning for the future?
I've quit artmaking in gmod entirely and have now focused on my new medium, sketching. I plan to eventually do digital art so I can earn money on the side while doing something I enjoy. Here's a few examples of what I do now:
(Fiddlesticks)

(M4 SOPMOD II)

(The doc-dic himself)

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

This one, mostly because of the time and effort I put into it. I wanted to make something akin to HAPPY HEAVY's creations, so thus the Demo Mastermind was born.

10) People you'd like to thank?
I would like to thank the people that supported my artwork along the way and to many of my friends in the gmod community. Naming all of them would be tough, but they've all given me a sense of community during my gmod years.

11) Any tips for beginners?
If you're looking to improve your Gmod art, I highly suggest you go read the lighting guide posted by my friend BlaBla. It'll really help with making your artwork looking better. Also, don't give up! If making screenshot artworks is what you like, then don't let anyone discourage you from doing them.

And don't be like me, who just made artwork for likes. Popularity doesn't matter in the end, what matters most is that you enjoy what you make.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
I'm glad that I could provide a contribution to this guide despite my retirement. And in these uncertain times: stay safe out there, my friends.
The Sneakiest Spy
1) Can you tell us about yourself?

Well, theres not much, really. I'm 19, and currently in college. I'm citizen of the US and the UK, but I consider Scotland to my real home despite being born in California and living in Texas.

2) Why do you make artworks?

I make artworks because I find it to be fun. Drawing has never been a strong suit, so I figured I'd pick up 3D stuff instead. Gmod seemed more adaptible as SFM is very scary to me, especially after watching LazyPurple's video about his struggle in making How It Feels: Engineer.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?

I had always seen SFMs on YT and other artworks from the communtiy on various social media sites, I felt inspired and obligated to contribute to it. TF2 will forever be my favorite game and I will never tire making art for it.

4) How long have you been making artworks?

Uuuhhhhhhhhh, I dunno. Maybe a year or two? It hasn't been long.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?

Bold of you to assume I have any money to afford any other painting software bar Paint.Net, lmao.

6) What do you like the most about making art?

I love taking things from my head and putting it into reality. Had a really good game of TF2? Immortalize it in Gmod. Want to make art of your waifu (Tali'Zorah 4 evar <3) for personal consumption? Gmod got you covered.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?

Its a toss up, really, between the time it takes, and the setbacks you might encounter. Be it either it crashing, or having ideas that don't translate well.

8) What are you planning for the future?

Making more art until my hands fall off, or my Google Drive disappears, lmao.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

Oh, I actually don't have one. I put a lot into my art, so I love everyone of them. Bar my EARLY work, that ♥♥♥♥ is trash lol, but if I had to choose, it would be these

10) People you'd like to thank?

LazyPurple, Steg, and literally anyone & everyone who ever said something about my art on DA, lol.

11) Any tips for beginners?
Don't despair early on, YOU WILL IMPROVE. THATS NOT ADVICE, ITS A THREAT. YOU WILL IMPROVE OR I WILL HUG YOU.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
I am honored to be counted among many, much more talented artists than I.
TroubleAlwaysInbound

I'd love to say thanks to Intruso for inviting me to this! I love talking about Gmod Art since it's one of my favorite pastimes and the community is one I'll never tire of.

1) Can you tell us about yourself?

When I'm not hunched over a desk, you can usually find me fixing or working on my firearms. You can tell I'm into that stuff based solely on my art, since it's basically all I do. I'm also writing a comic, which is active right now that I'm using Garry's Mod to produce. Check it out here[strippedwebcomic.webcomic.ws].

2) Why do you make artworks?

I was a film student, wanted to make movies at one point in time but that's a hard market to break into when you're a struggling student, so I started writing screenplays and I figured I would use GMod to put those ideas to use. I love making scenes I like looking at, because it's always fun to have a neat idea and be able to make it into a tangible thing.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?

Slim Charles. Waaaaay way back when facepunch still existed, that guy was making stuff that I was absolutely enamored with. I tried to emulate him, but ended up discovering my own style and methods.

4) How long have you been making artworks?

I've owned Gmod for ten years, but have been making artwork for eight, as of 2020.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?

GMod (obviously), GIMP, VTFEdit and Photoshop. If I'm feeling masochistic I'll open blender and try to figure out how to get a model into Source which usually results in all manner of horrific things.

6) What do you like the most about making art?

Freedom. I get to be the director, costume designer, lights... Everything. I can tweak every little thing to my liking and that's so worth it.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?

Burning out. It happens to everyone eventually and when it hits, it hits hard. That total loss of creativity, flying around a map looking for a good place to set a scene, it sucks.

8) What are you planning for the future?

Working on my comic until it wraps up, then maybe trying my hand at making animations in Unreal.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?

10) People you'd like to thank?

Piggo, Arachnit, Reticulon and the gals at my local liquor store. Bless them all.

11) Any tips for beginners?

Don't give up. Just because you're not an expert right away doesn't mean you can't improve.

Don't beg for models. Ever. If you're desperate enough, commission someone. I'm not above it, and neither are you.

And last but not least, learn to take constructive criticism. The worst thing an artist can do is be complacent. Always strive to improve. Don't be that guy.

12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?

Thanks for reading my stuff, thanks for stopping by and have a good one, reader!
WarAxE14
I would like to thank Intruso for inviting me, It's really great to see all other artists.

1) Can you tell us about yourself?

Hello, my name is WarAxE14, but you can just call me waraxe14, I am mostly Gmod animator and artist. I am from Croatia, and I mostly make artworks related to TF2 and some other Valve games.
My main games: TF2, GMOD, Minecraft and Mario Maker 2
My OC: Heavy(RED)-Hound dog (Australium Gold)
-Dead of Night (Light version)
-Borscht Belt
My Profile: https://steamcommunity.com/id/waraxe14/
My YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsATPLmK-Be1LXaEPKkjIrA
2) Why do you make artworks?
Because I always wanted to make artworks from beginning, I wanted to make SFM artworks, but the program was really hard to me, even when I watched tutorials, I sometimes got stuck on some parts, and when I heard about GMOD I wanted to give it a shot since someone told me It's easier.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
When I got Steam for first time, I wanted to see what is it all about outside of games, I heard something about community and I saw so many great arts that made me inspired.

4) How long have you been making artworks?
On 2016. , almost 4 years.

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Well, I'm not using programs that much, but whenever I make thumbnail for my YouTube channel, I'm using Photoshop.(Not that great, but still practising)

6) What do you like the most about making art?
Well I mostly like to make something silly and funny related, and some references.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
I hate when I'm trying to pose a character, it sometimes get stuck and I have to stand pose it and do it again, and of course FINGER POSING.

8) What are you planning for the future?
Well I don't have much for planning, but I wanted to make more content on YouTube and making more artworks.

9) Favourite artwork you've made?
Welp, I really don't have one, but this is what I'm mostly proud of:

10) People you'd like to thank?

Watt
Before I began I would like to thank Intruso for inviting!
Now Here We go.
1) Can you tell us about yourself?

My name is Watt, just a guy being fascinated of electricities and I'm from Poland.
I was previously known a bit as Wattizo but I decided to say as Watt because I liked it more not only due to inspiration of a actual unit of power but also because It's more simple.
My persona is Heavy (also Engineer but not anymore).
My hobby irl is biology, sience I like to look at it closer, just how it works. It's fasinacting.
2) Why do you make artworks?
Beacuse I like to make them, not easy but you get used to it overtime if you are patient enough and have a good imagination then its fun overall.
I have been doing artworks since 2018 from both Garry's Mod and Source Filmmaker.
3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
Other Gmodder's and the creativition.
4) How long have you been making artworks?
Sience 2018. Like I said previously :)
5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
I use Gmod and SFM, but it depends if I want to go towards quality or more "funky" way.
6) What do you like the most about making art?
When it comes to arts the most thing I like making about arts is giving off the idea you wanted to show. Sure It's not always perfect, but hey It's always better than nothing.
7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Well obviously the time taken in, the thing if you won't save your art doring the progress and well Gmod crashes you're kinda doomed (same goes to SFM) and sometimes a leak out of ideas kills your passion towards given.
8) What are you planning for the future?
In a future I'm planning making professional animations but We will see I guess.
9) Favourite artwork you've made?
Here are some examples:
10) People you'd like to thank?
I woul'd like to thank everybody who helped me in a bad mood and condition from Discord and Steam!
11) Any tips for beginners?

Widderen
Thanks for the invitation, Intruso! As few of you know, I am Widderen, a GModder that every once in a while pops up and posts some artwork.

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
I got introduced to Garry's Mod back in its heyday of 2009-2009, yet I have only gotten into Steam in 2015. I am also a traditional artist, which is to say I draw, sculpt, and paint in my time outside of the computer. Occasionally I do draw in photoshop, yet since I don't have a drawing tablet, that takes forever to do. I also do write stories, yet not many are interested in that, so I won't touch on that.

2) Why do you make artworks?
I make artworks to this day as a method of both brainstorming ideas for my story, testing models, or as a method of ventilation. Testing models is rather common. I barely do friend related pictures not out of spite, but because I don't have ideas that would involve me including close friends of mine. In a way it is fun to do as well. Recently, I've decided to move all of my characters except for a couple of them out of the TF2 Style. With their point in development, they're ready for transitioning into their own style for more originality.

3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
Before creating artworks, I just did the traditional stuff of spawning in NPCs and just goofing around with people. A couple of old friends had influenced me to take up creating artworks, and that started this whole passion to create with a program that's not exactly entitled to render, but its done possible.

(This is a character of mine that I've taken out of the TF2-Style)

4) How long have you been making artworks?
Since 2015, my boy

5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
We got the all mighty GMod, and a touching of photoshop (varies) because of how GMod renders out.

6) What do you like the most about making art?
Being able to express my interests.

7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Unable to get them the way I want them at first, yet that's natural to the art process.

8) What are you planning for the future?
I plan on getting a degree in Graphic Design along with starting up a company dedicated to helping artists get recognition and overall helping one another improve in an area, whether its in mediums (drawing, paint, etc) or certain subjects (anatomy, etc) Another thing I plan on is becoming an animator, along with being a writer. I want to show what I'm truly capable of with my stories in both mediums. Some may simply be written, others may be done with animation, or both.

9) Favorite artwork you've made?
I don't have any favorites I've made. Each piece of work I've made are all unique in their own light.
I would say though that maybe one of them I like a bit more than the others due to the similarity to the original source.

Yet I do like it when I use my original characters.

10) People you'd like to thank?
Everyone I've met, regardless if we had beef in the past or whatever, I'm glad they've managed to guide me along my path towards being a GModder/Graphic Designer.

11) Any tips for beginners?
Beginners, don't hesitate to contact one of us mentioned in this encyclopedia for help. We are here to help y'all in your journey towards being a GModder. A tip I'd give you is to take your time when making an artwork. Patience is key when making stuff in either GMod, SFM, or any similar program that involves using models. Always browse the workshop for inspiration. If you feel like you have an idea for a lets say, city build or anything of such and don't want to waste the time creating each building, always check the workshop, there are building models present for when this situation arises.

A majority of my work is not uploaded onto Steam, they're all on Discord.
XenoNuke
Thank you for inviting me to this guide, 'tis a pleasure to be here.

1) Can you tell us about yourself?
Hallo, I’m XenoNuke. I’ve been making Garry’s mod artwork for about eight months or so now. Additionally, I sometimes upload Gmod addons to the workshop.
2) Why do you make artworks?
Personally, I like to make artwork so people can enjoy it. Plus, it’s fun to do, especially when you can npesta scream at your finished product.
3) What inspired you to start making artworks?
When I first started making artwork, it would be based off a random image that would pop into my head. Then I would expand upon it in Garry’s Mod until I considered the image complete (of course I would attempt to account for basic photography guidelines). Currently, what inspires me to make Garry’s Mod art is surreal artwork, I just hop on to google and I can find a myriad of pieces for inspiration.
4) How long have you been making artworks?
Around 8 months
5) What type of programs do you use to make your artworks?
Photoshop and Gmod.
6) What do you like the most about making art?
The photoshop portion is the best in my opinion because I get to layer renders over each other, and see how well it comes out. Additionally, I can also add touch-ups to the scene that normally would be difficult for me to do in basic Garry’s Mod.
7) What do you hate the most about making art?
Rendering (though this really only applies to the soft lamps addon). Despite its rewards, it can be an absolute pain to work with to get the lighting you want.
8) What are you planning for the future?
There are actually three pieces I’m planning to make for the future. When in the future is completely undetermined.
9) Favourite artwork you've made?
Creator’s Realm is my favorite piece because I actually got to “collaborate” with some of my personal friends on the piece. By “collaborating”, I mean asking them, “Hey you, which prop should I place next” and they’d tell me something completely random, which was the point.
10) People you'd like to thank?
Any of my friends in general, who were there to support and motivate me while I created artwork.
11) Any tips for beginners?
I'd say sketching it out on paper first before building the scene. It doesn’t necessarily have to be too detailed, (For instance, Gateway station was literally just a triangle with a few dots representing cars on either side) once you sketch it, it should to display a basic outline of what you’re going to do or expand upon in your piece.
12) Anything else you wish to say to who's reading?
Did you read the other pages, I’m sure they’re more substantial than mine lmao
ENDING
I hope you enjoyed reading about your favourite artist.
