Easy Levelling Strategies for Ni No Kuni
By yeah and 1 collaborators
In Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, one of the major challenges is the strength and level of your party and familiars. Hopefully by reading this guide you'll be able to obtain useful information to be informed on good strategies to adequately level everyone up to prevent the awful fate of GAME OVERing 20 times in the last ten minutes because you're just too damn weak for those Solosseum ranks.

Those darn Tokos!
Those darn Tokos!
North and to the left of the Isle of Autumnia, are the collective Swan Islands, that are accessible once you reach Castaway Cove (South of Al Mamoon) and obtain the ship.

Once you reach the islands, you will find familiar familiars, including Mites, Thumbelemurs, and Seed Sprites, as well as the peculiar familiar known as the Toko.

The Toko will try to run away from you if it spots you out on the islands, and in battle, will attempt to disorient you to the best of its power so it can make a swift escape. However, if you manage to defeat one by sneaking up behind one, using a powerful attack before it can flee, or by chance be lucky enough to kill one, you will be rewarded with over 2000 EXP.
For reference, this is more than 3x what you would earn from defeating Moltaan at Old Smoky. If you can manage to farm these, even early game, it can have great results for you and your party, and without a doubt, help you level you up immensely.
Perdida, Who?
Perdida, Who?

Outside Perdida, on the 'Billy Goat's Bluff', you can find the Toko's distant relative, the Tokotoko, who much like his younger friend, gives ALL of the EXP. 16,000 EXP to be exact. Yes siree, you can without a doubt count on these friendly avocados to give you all the levels you need.

I would recommend to farm these guys to make sure Nevermore is not a shock to the system, and not have to worry about wasting metamorphoses.

There isn't much different about this Toko compared to his sibling, besides being higher levelled and a more dangerous creature. Caution is advised, because as cute as it looks, you can encounter an easy failure at the petit hands of your good friend, The tokotoko
Brrrr, is it Tokotocold in here or is it just me?
Tokotocold
The final form of the elusive Toko is that of a Tokotocold, and just like its name, it is cold hearted.

Tokotocolds feel no mercy and will decimate you if they get the chance, and because of this, it is essential to act quickly if you are in contact with them. Tokotocolds give a staggering 24,000 EXP for killing a single one. They're found on the balconies of the Ivory Tower, on the way to The White Witch and they mean business. If you want to farm levels end-game, they are a must.

I do recommend caution around these felonious fellas, since they punch HARD and run FAST - so make sure to hit them first and get them down low, before they make a (very tidy!) escape

Tokotocolds were extremely helpful for farming the taming 250 monsters one as well as you can easily evolve them

For those who want to use one of these as a familiar, word of warning that they take even more EXP to level as they give when defeated. So even though their stats are high for their level they're gonna be stuck there for a long time. I nabbed a Tokotoko and he had 24,000 EXP to hit level 2. Ouch.

There is also the argument for Ulks being farmed near the end-end-END game, but I still think Tokos are the most important farming technique for the whole game.

Tokos are a kind of rare spawn, but there is a trick to speed up the farming: look for a spawn, that you can see (not the ones in the woods - it kind of works with them as well, but its harder to chase them there) and save close to the spawnpoint (so you can easily chase it). Dont stand too close or they might catch you from behind. Then just run into the spawned enemy (it doesnt matter if its a toko or not - even without a toko on the worldmap, there is a small chance to get one). If the battle has a toko: fight it - if it doesnt: hit start-quit to menu and reload - to reset the spawn. Reposition yourself and save after each won toko-fight. You can also use the gateway spell twice, but reloading is faster(at least for me ^^).

I also find that early game, bubble bath from your seed sprite can efficiently help kill everything in the swan islands.

Quick tips for hunting Tokos, if you can, use griffy on esther , it's a remarkably powerful familiar, and will hold it's own for the most part, on swaine ... just expect him to die, and during the fight, kite and use pulse on the creatures, they're very strong right out of castaway .
