Intro
I'm new to racing, and was wanting to setup a LAN racing party. I found a couple of T80's cheap. They are not the best wheel to have if you want to be serious about racing games, but it's a good cheap wheel. It also has the added benefit of working on the PS3/PS4/PC. So not bad bang for the buck if you can get one used. I found mine on craigslist.
PC Setup
Before you plug in your wheel to your PC. Download and install the drivers from here.

Thrustmaster T80 Support page[support.thrustmaster.com]

There is a manual for setting up the wheel for PC. Follow the installation instructions. It should walk you through the process.
Wheel Modes and Sensitivity Settings
When I bought the wheels, they didn't come with manuals. They are found on the same page as the driver files.

The Summary of this is that there is two Wheel modes, Racing and Game pad mode.
  • Racing Mode - The wheel is recognized as a proper wheel, and is more sensitve.
  • Game Pad Mode - The wheel is recognized as a game pad, has three sensitivity settings.

I was able to setup while the Wheel was in Racing Mode.
Steam support, or rather not...
At first I couldn't get the wheel to be recognized at all. It wasn't until I turned off ALL controller support in Steam settings, was I able to get the wheel recognized.

You can find these settings in Steam-> Settings-> Controller-> General Controller Settings.

Run the Game
At this point, I was able to fire up the game, go to controller settings and go through the Setup Wizard process.

After that, save your configuration, and get ready to RACE!

Hope this helps all you from the frustration I had figuring this out.

Sorry, I don't actually have forza or the 488 (though I'm guessing it uses the same drivers as a T80) If you are getting proper but over sensitive input then other than adjusting the game sensitivity setting (which I'm sure you've already done) I don't have much to suggest. Took a look on the internet, found some links that may be of help.

Hope these help you.

I'm not a huge racing fan myself, but I had to setup this wheel, and it wasn't straight forward, so I posted this guide so other's don't have to get a flat forehead too!:steamhappy:
