Pacific Intermountain Express pack

Description
Pacific Intermountain Express Freight Pack

By Southland Mods - E. Daigle

Second release of the Fallen Flags Collection, more to come

The history of P-I-E is a rather large one. In 1927, Ray Linenquest quit his job with the railroad to work as a driver for his two brothers, Bill and Les who operated Linenquest Truck Lines between Pocatello and Idaho Falls,Id, with two model "A" Fords.

Bill left the business and brother Les took his Reo and joined with Linck Trucking Co., After Linkck went broke, Les formed his own company, Utah-California Motor Express.
Ray sold out to Clark Transfer. Brother Bill then drove again for their brother Les.
During this time Ray still wanted his own business.
By 1933, with $4000, Ray bought a 3-ton Moreland and formed Utah-California Motor Lines from Salt Lake City to San Francisco. Within 6 months, Ray and J.O. Contant bought out Les's company. By 1937, the truckline had gone broke and was bought out by R.A. Conyes and J.F. Shea., with the buy out, the name was changed to Conyes Freight Lines.
Conyes began modernizing his fleet and bought one of the first mechanical
reefer trailers in the west. Conyes was getting tired of pouring money into a struggling company, so he decided to sell to Pacific Intermountain Express, P-I-E of Colorado was owned by Ed Heller.
At this same time, another truckline operatoring from San Francisco to Salt Lake City was P-I-E of California. In 1940, P-I-E of Colorado and P-I-E of California merged and became Pacific Intermountain Express.
Between 1946 and 1954, nine other carriers were purchased and absorbed into what was becoming one of the first west coast to St Louis and Chicago carriers. In 1954 the biggest addition so far was with the purchase of West Coast Fast Freight and its tank division,System Tank Lines.
This purchase made a fleet total of 754 tractors, 1245 trailers, 344 city trucks, 226 tank trucks, and 261 tank trailers, also in 1954 with this purchase, P-I-E became the worlds largest hauler of petroleum products.
Through the 50's and 60's P-I-E employed virtually every type of available road equipment, also designed some of their own dromedary tractors.
By the mid 60's P-I-E extended service into the east coast through more acquisitions, having 67 terminals in 29 states.
In 1973, the company was purchased by IU International, by 1983 merged with Ryder Truck Lines, forming Ryder/P-I-E Nationwide.
In 1985, the company was sold again, with the name shortened to P-I-E Nationwide.
By 1989 loses were staggering, and the company was sold again, and Transcon Lines was absorbed with this purchase.
Loses continued, and by mid 1990 P-I-E filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
During this time P-I-E attempted to scale back operations with dismal failure and resulted in one of Americas most famous common carriers closing their doors forever, but left many fond memories for many.

Hey everyone, While Im not officially asking anyone to pay for my paintjobs, be aware that some of them take quite a while to make and test to be sure they are correct and completely error free, if you want to donate anything for them its totally up to you, but they will continue to be free regardless

The picture I used to reference from on the blue KW did have the PIE on the spoiler, thats why I did it that way, the only thing I can assume from that was, it was originally in the PIE fleet before they became Ryder/PIE

i have to ask the Blue Ryder/P.I.E Kenworth Shouldnt that have Ryder.P.I.E on the Spoiler instead of P.I.E

I know taking away the options to change things on the trailers, some get aggrivated, but I setup my mods the closest possible way to how the trailers were setup for the carrier that used them. Example, if the trailer that I chose to paint had swing doors, a rollup door, or a rollup door with a liftgate, that paintjob was locked to whichever the trailer had in real life.
I do my mods as close to real life as I can, with the options that I have available to me. If people dont care for that, I dont twist their arm and make them use my mods. Its their option to use them.
