How To Fix the Audio Crackling Issue
By Rolling Thunder and 1 collaborators
For some stupid reason, Microsoft forgot to set this specific option, I'm here to tell you how to fix this audio issue so you can play the campaign without the audio bugging out. NOTE! This guide does not fix the audio slowdown issue that plagues the engine. This guide is to fix the crackling audio.

Enable Hidden Files in Windows.
in Windows Explorer, click File Tab> Change Folder and Search Options>View Tab>Hidden Files and Folders>Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives
Find the GameUserSettings.ini file.
Navigate to C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\LocalLow\MCC\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor and open up the file GameUserSettings.ini file in Notepad or Notepad++.
Change AudioQualityLevel from 0 to 1
Press Ctrl+F and search for AudioQualityLevel and replace the 0 with a 1. This is the culprit to all of your audio issues. Save, then right click the file>properties>check Read Only
Start the game and enter a mission
Start up the game and play in a mission. The audio should now be not super crunchy.
NOTE!
Sometimes, when you have a slower computer, the audio will play slower, there's not much i can say except upgrade your computer. I'm sorry. This is due to how Reach's engine works under intense CPU pressure. You'll most likely have the same issue when Halo 3 and ODST drops if there isn't a patch released by then.

For some reason the way I fixed it was by setting the audio output from default,to my audio card (which made the game run at 10 fps) then back to default, and the crackling stopped on its own

Hey uh, I tried this but when I open LocalLow there's no MCC in there. Now I did install MCC on a separate Hard Drive because my main one doesn't have that much space.

i've been using it since launch, it doesn't mess with the anti cheat cuz it's just the config file

Thanks! This sucked. It's not gonna do anything weird with the anti cheat will it?

I've heard that the H3 addition may have fixed this, anyone else hear that?

Listening to this as an audio engineer (somewhat retired) I hear a compressor plugin set with a gain way too high over everything. This crunches the audio which yields very unprofessional master (even heavy metal music is compressed cleanly). They probably could fix this in 5 minutes by turning down the gain on that compressor plugin. Unless they compressed all the sounds and music this way, which makes them pretty stupid. The fact is anyone that listening to this and thought it was ok should be canned.

Instead of "1" I've replaced it with "2" and it worked perfectly! Thanks a lot!
