Bay of Plenty v1 [NEWER VERSION AVAILABLE]

Description

Hello everybody,

Bay of Plenty is a Cities: Skylines map based on a heightmap of Auckland, New Zealand, having been combined in GIMP with mountains from Owl's The Golden Gate RM map. The map is suitable for 81 tiles play or for just using the original 25 tiles. It features entirely custom handmade networks and interchanges.

No mods, and no assets are required to run this map.

Now I would say It is 100% vanilla compatible and does not require any DLCs to play, I have tested this myself, however on review of the map I did find a lone radio antenna from the Disasters DLC and some airport light props from the After Dark DLC. As already mentioned, the map should still load, but perhaps you may get an error message for the missing assets if you lack the DLCs.

I have created an amended version of the map adressing these issues. I have futher been improving the map with terrain smoothing, waterflow adjustments, and clipping fixes. Find this amended map by following the hyperlink: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1939236605

An updated amended version (without accidentally included Mass Transit DLC roads) can be found at:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2106090246

I also want to say a thing about the tragic White Island volcano eruption. This map shares it's name with the Bay where the eruption occured. Please know that this is a complete accident as I picked the name by random before the events took place on 9 December 2019 without even knowing it was a real world location. I am not, or was never, trying gain attention from the misfortune of others. With that, I want to submit my sincere condoleances to anyone caught in the tradgedy.

Stay safe!

@cyberian the reply continues..
Apparently theres a 1000 character limit :)

Thank you again!
Its been very fun to watch other people build on maps Ive made. :) Second time I've hade that pleasure now since Flabaliki had a great run at the Karlskrona map.

@cyberian :) Thank you! I really wish there was a better way to share moveit exports, like a dedicated webpage or perhaps even a steam workshop integrated story. For now you can try using this Google Drive Link [drive.google.com]. The zipfile contains a few versions of two different custom arch bridges Ive made, one small and the one very large one I suspect youve seen. I might use this format for uploading further move it exports in the future.

To import the files into your game I think you just need to place them in the MoveItExports folder at the Disk/Username/AppData/Local/Colossal Order/Cities_Skylines directory (assuming youre on Windows 10). Note that all nodes will create pillars when you import the bridges. To remove these select buildings and remove these from the main span area (bridge anchors contain building pillars which you may want to keep).

Thx! I can imagine that that took a while to create ;)

@FrenkyG its a custom built bridge using vanilla networks and props.
[This reddit post covers all the details.] (https://www.reddit.com/r/CitiesSkylines/comments/e67clg/custom_made_arch_truss_bridge_made_from_only/)

If you or anyone else wants to check out the bridge you can find a move it export file [here] (https://easyupload.io/p6l6z7) for the next 30 days. Instructions to use are found in the reddit post.

@Teddy Radko, looks good! One question, the last screenshot, there is an arch bridge in the back, which asset is that?

@ChocoGabz Thanks! Glad you like it. Im playing it myself on the vanilla temperate theme which is what is shown in the screenshots. I think it looks ok but I dont doubt custom themes could make it even better. The Springwood theme would probably be my go to map theme in that case.

As for LUTs, Im currently playing with the relight mod but for the base LUT im using the vanilla European LUT for some reason. If I were you Id definitively check out the relight mod, if you havnt already, and pick one of the included LUTs depending on which feels best.

Hey! Nice map my man, enjoying it so far. Just wondering if you might have any suggestions for a map theme or a LUT that goes well with it; or are you happy with Vanilla?
