Allied Conflict: Suez Escalation, 1956

Description
With the end of World War 2 and the beginning of the Cold War, the United States of America and Great Britain's special relationship fractured with the two nations going their seperate ways politically and in their respective nuclear weapons programs.

It is October of 1956 and the once major power of Great Britain and the world superpower of the United States of America are close to coming to blows. The Suez Crisis is in full swing, with Egypt having taken over the Suez Canal and Israeli forces engaging the Egyptian military in the Sinai Peninsula. British Airborne Forces have also been deployed to the region to protect their interests in the region and stop the fighting.
Israel agreed to remove their forces from the Canal if the Egyptians also agreed to. Egypt has refused, which combined with Israel's own "Manifest Destiny" doctrine gaining traction, has caused Israel to break from Britain's plans and retain total control over the Canal. Britain has demanded the removal of all military forces from the Canal, aside from their own, to "retain peace in the world"
As part of the British strategy to stop the fighting, they have threatened sanctions and to remove Israeli access to the Canal by force if they do not stop their advance into Egypt. Britain has re-activated and is preparing to deploy a number of World War era ships to the region to make their point against Israel and Egypt.
The United States has protested this move, seeing things from Israel's point of view and having a resurgence of anti-colonial feelings. Much of the American populace is sympathetic to the Israelis and the USA has provided them much of it's modern technologies; and in addition, the US has begun reactivating ships in it's reserve fleet to deter the British from proceeding.
Additionally, Soviet Premier Nikolai Bulganin has sent notes to Britain, France, Israel, and the United States that if they cannot work out the issue amongst themselves by the end of the year, that the Soviet Union will step in and use "all forces at their disposal" to resolve the conflict.
Despite the warnings of the USA and alongside the thinly-veiled Soviet threat to go to war and use nuclear weapons, Britain has chosen to proceed along their planned course and has deployed the fleet now dubbed the "Empire Fleet" from the Home Islands towards Gibraltar. In response, the USA has deployed the newly reactivated "1st Fleet" to intercept the British and turn them back before they reach Gibraltar, by any means necessary.

thanks both for the comments! I do agree that the immediate-post WWII era/Pre-Vietnam War era is extremely under-represented and nearly forgotten (perhaps it's why the Korean War has the nickname "The Forgotten War") and it's this reason why I get so interested to learn more about the era.

About the mission itself; it's a direct port of my old one from CMANO, so there's likely a ton of bugs. I do plan to go back and fix/update my missions eventually, but it's likely to be a while.

I agree with Screng. Vastly under-represented era.

I haven't played it yet but i want to thank you for focusing on this time frame, region, and tensions. This political backdrop adds a huge layer to the actual TOEE and fighting. o7
