Emerald Bay

Description
This is a fictional region containing two cities, one town and two villages. The entire region is very polished with individual building placement throughout, ground shading and general high attention to detail. The scenery is a combination of lakes, rivers and coast, agriculture and forests with rolling hills.

The main city lies on the coast and boasts an impressive waterfront skyline that includes the Burj Al Arab and Petronas Towers. Downtown consist mostly of skyscrapers and highrise apartments, but also features a large park reminiscent of New York's central park. On one corner of the park is the old city hall (the Rathaus). A semi-sunken highway connects downtown with suburban areas. Off the coast there is a small island that features Buckingham Palace, and a larger island occupied by both residential and commercial areas and the Sydney Opera House in a prominent and scenic setting. To the north of the city there is a major port and industrual area.

The second city lies to the northwest. This city used to be a relatively quiet town, but has recently seen a major boom in business, and the road network has not yet been fully upgraded to cope with the load. Due to this recent boom in the downtown core, in conjunction with the expansion of suburban neighbourhoods that encroach on agricultural land, traffic can be quite bad at times.

The smaller town in the far notheast corner of the map has a relatively small urban style downtown that is surrounded by low-density housing. High-wealth housing across the river provides a haven for upper-class citizens who want to be away from high-traffic areas. Across the highway there is a new business and industrial park.

There are two main agricultural areas on the map, and each has a small agricultural village at its center. There is also a large stone quarry between the two main cities. The map also features many highway intersections, not two of which are alike and each being a small piece of art.

The map is extensively play tested by me and is best used with my modified ruleset (musculus_risorius' rules), available here:

There is a simple solution to that problem Wraldpyk, disable city growth when you start the game. This city was made by meticulously placing each and every individual building to achieve the best aesthetic (and also realistic) map. By enabling city growth the computer takes over building placement and, yes, you end up with skyscrapers everywhere.

Nice map! However, they start building skyscrapers everywhere, and landmarks are disapearing after a couple of seconds gameplay, and they build skyscrapers on those plots too!
