DAWNGUARD REQUIRED

All mods in the Improved Artifacts Collection can be found on the Nexus [www.nexusmods.com]. Also included on the Nexus is a single merged version that includes all the mods in a single esp file.

Special thanks to Ghosu, who created the mesh for the two-handed version of Harkon’s Sword.
Many thanks to anyone who has given a positive rating!

This mod is part of the Improved Artifacts Collection, which can be found at this link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=204157051

Improved stats for Harkon’s Sword, including a new enchantment that inflicts bonus damage when you use the katana to kill mortals.

Customization options that allow you to obtain a two-handed version of Harkon’s Sword.

Improved stats for the Staff of Ruunvald, which can now summon Gargoyles.

A new artifact called Varkolyr’s Staff, which is a substitute for those who can’t obtain the Staff of Ruunvald and has an identical enchantment.

Three new vampiric artifacts: the Bloodveil Ring, the Deathdrinker Amulet and the Cowl of Midnight.

Two new artifacts with a vampiric history: the Boots of Springheel Jak and the Crown of the Arch-Curate.

Please note: it is possible to obtain both a one-handed and two-handed version of Harkon’s Sword. To obtain the two-handed version, open the console and type in the command: set ZHSGlobal to 2. Then, equip Harkon’s Sword and it will be replaced by the two-handed version. To reclaim the one-handed version, type in the command: set ZHSGlobal to 1.

ORIGINAL STATS
Damage (One-Handed): 8 (equivalent to a Steel Sword)
Reach: 1 (standard Sword reach)
Speed: 1 (standard Sword speed)
Enchantment: Absorbs 15 points of Health, Magicka and Stamina if wielded by a vampire.
Charge: 3000/128 = 23 uses

NEW STATS (VERSION 1)
Damage (One-Handed): 14 (equivalent to a Daedric Sword)
Reach: 1.1 (slightly more than standard Sword reach)
Speed: 1.1 (slightly more than standard Sword speed)

NEW STATS (VERSION 2)
Damage (Two-Handed): 24 (equivalent to a Daedric Greatsword)
Reach: 1.1 (slightly less than standard Greatsword reach)
Speed: 1 (the same speed as the Ebony Blade)

NEW STATS (BOTH)
Enchantment: Absorbs 25 points of Health and 15 points of Stamina and Magicka. Inflicts X points of additional damage*.
Charge: 3000/30 = 100 uses

In this case, X is a value between 10 and 60. Every time you kill 5 NPCs (not including vampires), the value of X increases by 10 points for 24 hours. It will decrease by 10 once this time is up. This means that the sword will inflict more damage if you use it to kill mortals often.

Please note: the Staff of Ruunvald is usually only obtainable during the Dawnguard part of the Dwanguard quest line. For those playing as a vampire character, it is unobtainable. As a workaround, I have added a staff called Varkolyr’s Staff, which has the same stats as the Staff of Ruunvald (but only if you have completed the Vampire side of the Dawnguard quest line). It will be in possession of a vampire named Varkolyr the Pale along with the Deathdrinker Amulet. See the Deathdrinker Amulet location details for more information.

ORIGINAL STATS
Enchantment: People and creatures up to level 8 won’t fight for 30 seconds.
Charge: 3000/128 = 23

NEW STATS
Enchantment: Summons a Gargoyle Fiend for 60 seconds.
Charge: 3000/100 = 30

THE BOOTS OF SPRINGHEEL JAK
These can be found in a small cabinet in the bedroom area of Bloodlet Throne. A picture of the cabinet can be found in the images above.

Enchantment: Fortifies your resistance to fall damage by 90%. Your movement speed is increased by 15%.

THE DEATHDRINKER AMULET
This is found in possession of Varkolyr the Pale, a strong vampire who will appear in Mara’s Eye Pond once the Dawnguard quest line has been completed. If you completed the quest line as a vampire, he will also be in possession of Varkolyr’s Staff (see the Staff of Ruunvald for details).

Enchantment: Restores X points of health whenever you kill an NPC that isn’t a vampire (i.e. a mortal). In this case, X = (Y+10)/2, where Y = the number of mortals you have killed rounded down to the nearest 10. For example, having killed 46 mortals, the Amulet will restore ((40+10)/2) 25 points of health.

Once you’ve killed 100 mortals (i.e. Y = 100), you can use the Deathdrinker Insight power. This will reset the consumption of the Amulet back to 0 (i.e. Y = 0), but it will also grant you 1 Perk Point.

THE BLOODVEIL RING
This is found in a Jewellry Box behind the house structure in Cronvangr Cave. A picture of the Jewellry Box can be found in the images above.

Enchantment: Fortifies your Magicka by 70 points. Grants you the Bloodveil spell, an Illusion spell that makes you almost completely undetectable at the cost of Magicka and a portion of vampire dust.

THE COWL OF MIDNIGHT
This is found in a small chest in Moldering Ruins. This Nordic Barrow is small, and so the chest should be easy to find.

Enchantment: Fortifies your Archery by 35 points. Detect life within 150 feet.

THE CROWN OF THE ARCH-CURATE
This can be found in an area of the Inner Sanctum of the Falmer Temple that is often difficult to reach. It is only accessible by entering the Paragon Portal with the Sapphire Paragon.

Enchantment: Grants you the Auriel’s Incantation power, which can be used to create up to 30 Sunhallowed Arrows from Elven Arrows. Also grants you the Armor of Auriel.

The Armor of Auriel can only be used during combat. To use it, simply crouch during combat. This will cause you to be enveloped in the Armor of Auriel until either you stand up or attack someone. The Armor of Auriel makes you invulnerable to damage. Once the effect is over, it cannot be used again for 20 seconds.

There are no known bugs associated with this mod.

How do I get the two-handed version of Harkon’s Sword?
Open the console and type in the command: Set ZHSGlobal to 2. Equip Harkon’s Sword, and it will be removed from your inventory and replaced by the two-handed version. If you then use the command: Set ZHSGlobal to 1 and equip the two-handed version of Harkon’s Sword, it will be replaced by the one-handed version.

Where can I find the new artifacts?
Information on where to find the artifacts can be found in the descriptions of each individual artifact. Further information can also be found in the pictures above.

Is there a difference between the Staff of Ruunvald and Varkolyr’s Staff?
Not in functionality; the only difference is that one can only be acquired by completing the Dawnguard quest line as a member of the Dawnguard, and the other can only be obtained as a vampire.

No response from the author in 8 years leads me to believe they aren't monitoring the comments but as a stab in the dark is there anyone who knows if you can get back the cowl of midnight once you disenchant it

I accidentally disenchanted the cowl of midnight. How do I get it back?

is there a way i can just get the improved sword, without all the extra artefacts?

You said you can't get Varkolyr's staff unless you are a vampire? because I did just kill him and looted it and I'm not with the dawnguards or the vampires yet

The first screenshot is completely blurred, and I cant read it.

Does the increased damage by killing mortals on Harkon's Sword only work if you're a vampire?
Atomic Hobo 9. maj 2017 kl. 21:21
Love it! My only issue is that this conflicts with another mod I use that edits unique weapons, in this case, Harkon's Sword. I was wondering, if you might be willing to add a version of this mod that adds all the new items, but leaves Harkon's Sword alone?

I appear to have a problem. Harkon's sword is still suck as it's original version with original enchantment, while the two handed veersion exists and the rest of the new items are there and working (Except for the amulet but that is because of Better Vampires. It;s weird the the sword isn't working.

will you be doing the "improved ????" series for Skyrim SE? it would be awesome! I feel sad not being able to use Harkons sword effectively, because it is SO underpowered in vanilla :(

Half of the pictures listed are so low in resolution, that I can't read them. This includes the necklace, harkon's sword, and what i assume is the one for the boots of springheel jack.
