When the priests of the sacred wells foresaw the coming cataclysm, they inspired their congregations by foretelling that after the coming inevitable downfall a bright but strange future would emerge. Some builders took what material they had and erected monuments to remind coming generations of this message of hope.
As the priests used to say, "Water flows to the sea and returns as rain. Everything goes round in circles. The good times will come again, but differently."
