Red Faction on Windows 7/8/10 and/or with proper widescreen

This is a guide on how to configure Red Faction to run on most modern video cards with widescreen resolution, along with additional multiplayer features thanks to the people who made the Dash Faction mod. If you have any questions just let me know in the comments.

The guide

Download the latest version of Dash Faction from here http://dashfaction.com and install it (latest one will be linked on the "Downloading the installer" section, accepting the prompts about it patching the game and just leaving that checked. When it prompts on where to install simply point it to the Red Faction folder on your hard drive in order to find RF.exe, assuming it didn't find it automatically, if you don't know how to find that then right-click on your Red Faction in your Steam library, go properties, local files, go "browse local files" and it'll take you right to it. There's also an additional step by step guide and documentation on that page.

Done! After that you should be able to simply launch from desktop, as of 1.6.0 there should be native Steam integration as well, and then you simply launch the game from Steam after installing Dash Faction over it.

In the launcher you can configure stuff like vsync (I always leave it off to minimize input lag personally), whether you want an FPS counter, your desired resolution etc...

Additional info

Be sure to check out the official Discord support channel[rfchat.com] for help with any issues during installation, and that's where most of the multiplayer community is still located if you ever want to play with them (Dash Faction fixes the multiplayer as well).

I wonder if there is a similar version of Dash Faction for Red Faction 2. This helped me with Red Faction 1, no issues with Red Faction 2 yet, but just in-case. Thanks again.

DaisyInTheMiX: Reinstall Dash Faction, and be sure to tick the "Replace Red Faction launcher by a link to Dash Faction launcher" option during the installation.

The issue you described is happening because when you launch Red Faction via Steam, it's launching without Dash Faction. Ticking that checkbox during the install will make Dash Faction launch when you launch Red Faction through Steam.

I ran the game via the Dash Faction Launcher and it works but when I quit and start the game via Steam it crashes after entering a room (the same room that didn't crashes via the Dash Faction Launcher.
I just wanna play via steam with the adjustments of Dash Faction to see my playtime and make some screens.
Is there anyone who has the same issue?
