Lore Starts

Description
This mod adds 9 lore friendly starts to Kensh (With more coming in the future). None of them are particularly overpowered, allowing for growing room as well as some unique scenarios and situations at the start of a new playthrough. I'm still new to modding, so if there are any problems or suggestions during play, please message me. Now some examples of the starts...

1. Shek Retainer- You are an unremarkable shek citizen living under the Stone Golem's new regime. Although your people have seen growth and prosperity over the years, like many of your fellow kin, you crave battle. Dissatisfied with living as a mere servant, you pick up your rusty plank and seek to make a name for yourself... One way or another.

2. Animal Herder- You have never been one to enjoy 'civilized' life. Behind those stone walls, trapped like rats, are politics, war, and slavery. Your tribe has always enjoyed a simpler existence in the wastes herding animals, letting them grow, butchering for meat, and selling the hides and skins. This is how you grew up as a child, your 'home' being wherever your calussed feet took you. It wasn't easy living of course. The cost of freedom and independence is drought, hunger, and threats from banditry and wild beasts. You beat the odds however, and now you are considered a full adult. As traditional among your tribe, you are given the means to start your own herd... Two young ewes and a young bonepup to herd them with. After gathering some supplies at your tribe's village, it is now time to head out into the world and leave your mark on it.

3. Aspiring Mercenaries- You are part of a trio of recent recruits into the widespread and renowned Mercenary Guild. Although you and your companions are still developing their skills, you show some promise, and are eager to see some action. With each of you kitted out to their specific preference, you are ready to head out and face the world. It's time to earn cats and glory!

4. Disgraced Ronin- You were once a promising member of the UC's samurai guard. You served the nobles with reliability and distinction. Somewhere along the way though, things started to go wrong. You were a bit TOO honorable. A bit TOO lawful. You might have looked down on the peasantry as much as any other high born, but you quickly discovered you were not safe from the Noble Circle's blatant corruption and nepotism either. When you brought to attention a minor lord's crime, you were quickly used as a scapegoat to protect his own skin. You were dishonored, stripped of your property, lands, and titles. Branded a criminal of the state, you wander the world as an outlaw of the nation you once served. Now though? You are free at least. A 'wave man'... Even if the UC would love nothing more to silence you by putting you in chains.

5. Noble's Child- You are the only child of a recently ousted nobleman of the United Cities. With your father's political rivals ending both his life and his influence, you were forced out of the family's estate with nothing but the fine clothes on your back, a small sum of cats, and your ancestral blade; more of a status symbol for you than a proper weapon. Born with a silver spoon in your mouth, both figuratively and literally, you don't have any survivor skills or combat expertise. None the less, you are determined to make something of yourself. At the very least, the state samurai are beholden towards you and the Trader's Guild are friendly business partners. That said, the Rebel Farmers would love your head, The Holy Nation considers you a political enemy, and the anti-slaving terrorist cells in the south want nothing to do with you. Good luck.

(PS: I don't own the gorgeous fanart for the title pic. That credit goes to the respective artist. I only own the screenshots)

Very nice. I personally love the herder one. It leaves so much room to roleplay and interpret the backstory subjectively.

I'll leave a mod suggestion since I'm not too good with the modding tool. Starting either in Clownsteady or Drifter's Last, you could begin your adventure as a Hive Trader, coming from the northern hive villages to trade freely in the United Cities. 5 characters, 1 Hive Prince, 3 Hive Soldiers and a Pack Beast / Garru. With around 5k - 10k cats as a starting currency.
