Ethereal Blade (v.2.19)

Description
--------------------------------
Introduction
--------------------------------

Hey everyone,

Finally after lots and lots of finishing touches I'm ready to present You featured class mod that adds Ethereal Blade class to the game. This melee class is themed around utilizing bladed weapons, ethereal projecion techniques and other various skills.

What pushed me to create this class? It was due to constantly feeling underwhelmed how skills felt in vanilla T2 - they supposed be spammed as much as possible, thus making them feel like extension of normal attack. It also removed a sense of "oomph" a skill should have while using it, like in other RPG's/MMORPG's. Also the visuals - while some of skills looked awesome, in contrast some looked, well...lackluster to say at least.

Without further ado, lets step right in to the main details.

--------------------------------
Class features
--------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ethereal Blade is weapon themed character using BLADED WEAPONS, as such, skills and passives from TWO OF HIS SKILL TREES (Finesse and Overpower) will work when wielding (Great)Swords or (Great)Axes ONLY!!!

Technique skill tree is not limited to weapon type, so for a really hardcore run You can use only this tree with any weapon of choice (Not tested and not currently recommended!)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Core character gameplay reimagined: Ethereal Blade is cooldown-heavy oriented character, meaning his skills depending on tier (the bigger the tier the better the skill) will have different cooldown periods, thats why remember to pump up those skills that You really like! Not only You will get damage and increased effects and bonuses per each tier, but cooldown will also decrease for each skill level (there are exceptions though!)

- 3 unique skill trees with painfully hand-crafted skill animations:

* Finesse (Requires dual wielding axes or swords - skills decrease enemy damage, cause bleeding and influence critical strikes)

*Techniques (Usable with any loadout - buffs, utility skills and offensive projection techniques)

* Overpower (Requires two-handed axe or sword - skills inflict stuns, ignore armor and have bigger raw power but at slightly increased cooldown periods than Finesse tree skills)

- Custom charge bar:

Similar to Outlander charge mechanic - EB recieves bonus to Attack Speed, All Damage, Damage Reduction and Dodge chance up to 10% by attacking his enemies with normal attacks ONLY.

- Passives now cap at 10 Level

Passive skills now now have 10 levels max without sacrificing any of their power, thanks to that any leftover skill points may be put somewhere else.

- Addes some miscellaneous custom sounds for skills.

Recommended Mods
--------------------------------

While Ethereal Blade does not require any other mods to run, some of those available in workshop do make playing game a better experience - I personally suggest trying Torchlight II Essentials, it's an awesome mod compilation that make playing more enjoyable while retaining most of base game intact:

- T2 Essentials: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=138228035

Also I recommend using 'no class requirements' mods that remove class requirements from items. I did not create any custom items and didn't fiddle around existing ones, this mod will allow you to equip items tied to vanilla classes with ease:

- For vanilla classes: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1390150555
- For variant classes: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1272547239

Important Disclaimer
--------------------------------

As gameplay is completely changed from Vanilla experience with skills and their usage and power, there may be some issues regarding their strength.

If You do find some of skills too weak or overpowered, please let me know in the discussion topic I have created regarding ballance issues.

This mod, just like any other class mod, can cause some issues to character when playing multiplayer, even more so with other overhaul mods (i.e. SynergiesMod) - this may cause glitches and crashes when loading character after multiplayer session, during leveling up, and so on. It is more advised to play this class mod in singleplayer only.

Credits
--------------------------------

I guess this goes without saying, but some of assets used in creating this mod are not mine. Skill icons, while some are recolored or even completely redone by me, are all property of: Tree of Saviors MMO, DoTA and League of Legends. Character arts and other icons come from various artists that I have encountered during my random web searches. Sounds used are from Dark Souls, Devil May Cry 3 and Dragon Ball - as You probably recognize some of those already.

Also thanks to Runic games to creating this classic action rpg masterpiece.

Thats it for now, thanks for reading this horrible wall of text and have fun playing!

Techniques could be a cool ethereal weapon bender a la mage tree, where you summon weapons to aid you in battle whether its weapons from fallen enemies who now woke up to fight on your side or you conjure weapons from thin air to fight out enemies. I think even adding summon type where you, for example, summon a bow which replaces your equipped weapon so you can switch in and out with different types of weapons to aid you in battle

Or just conjure weapons, just like unlimited arsenal, where the weapon shaped skills attack enemies

A lot of to think about but technique definitely should be reworked and reimagined

@Fidelis It's great You've managed to figure it out. Overall dealing with multiple mods can be quite an ordeal, You never know how some of those may influence each other.

As for the builds themselves, the class was made with 2 main paths in mind - either duals or two hander, with a sprinkle of middle tree which has magical based skills rather than DPS ones.

Even though this tree has more-or-less 3 (4 counting riposte) offensive skills, and while those can deal quite a substantial damage with the right stats and skills chosen for it, the cooldown may prove for the build to be diffucult to operate.

I haven't tested it this far, but I wanted player to have a more streamlined experience, because even with passives reduced to 10 points, You still have limited choice when it comes to maxing desired skils for yourself - and I wanted to make all of those viable at any aprt of the game.

@Gurei: I was worried about the flagged status, but I finaly decided to use the console.

I used 'RESETSTATS' to reset the Stats to 0, and used 'STATPOINTS 415' to add 415 Stat points for my level 76. It worked like a charm ;).

Im back on the rail and Im really happy.

Currently brainstorming for a dual wielder, trying to choose between physical or magical. If you have some advices about it ;)

Once again tremendous work, the gameplay is really involving and the sfx and sounds are top notch. Only bad sides are the no compatibility with 'Enhanced character customisation' and no 'Rapid Respec'.

@Fidelis Hi there, I'm happy that you're enjoying the mod, although its hard to really tell what can be going on with the stat potions - I personally wasn't using them whatsover.

On the side note - I kind of endorsed using T2 Essentials (because I played through the whole game with it while testing the class, and it presented an experience very close to vanilla) but I cannot vouch completely for Synergies (tested in on start, but not very in-depth, but I've read that it tends to cause some compatibility issues with custom class mods).

As for helping you with the stat problem - have You tried to decrease those using commands maybe? (idk if its possible though) I know there are some commands to completely reset your character to level 1, so maybe then giving yourself sufficient XP to make up to those levels alongside normally gained stats would be possible to do?

Hello Gurei, can you help me please?
I really enjoyed your class but I did a mistake, I used Essential + Synergies like you adviced. The problem is I drank too much Stats potions, I thougt it was part of Synergies leveling logic. But now there is no more interest to continue playing, I am rolling on everything.
I would like to loose these stats. I tried Restats potions, but they do, ex: '-5focus +5stats', Im looking for something like, ex: '-5focus +0stats', I can't find a mod for this. And T2 Rapid Respec can't read my Etheral Blade file :/

Do you know how to change this please? I am level 76 and I would like to get back on this wonderful class.

Thank you :)

@DeLaCreme It is a common issue with lots of class mods, just download this mod ant put this at top of the list, it should work, it replaces the quest rewards the generic items so you can progress onward in game:

Is it expected that quests won't reward you with equipment? Like, in the first ever quest there's literally no rewards for me, and furthermore I can at max take pet item-equipment as reward from quests.

@marnid I'm glad You like it, although I didn't have much time to update (mainly because i feel mods TL2 seem to die out or smth, idk) but sure, if You want to use it then knock youself out, You have my permission. I can't vouch for it to work in multiplayer and/or with other total conversion mods that have custom classes though.
