Meitou Recolour: Dust Gold

Yeah, I like doing this stuff, its fairly simple.

This retexture uses marbled black and gold textures for the blade and a modified picture of a table mat for the grip.

I generally like my Cross class weapon's to stand out. They're special. I tend to lean towards heavy dark colours like black, contrasted with another colour not used in the game (like red or gold). It does work nicely to make weapon inventory previews stand out too.

This should be compatible with everything as long as it is loaded after other weapon texture mods.

The resolution is a bit higher than my previous mod (about 40%); Red and Black, but it looks much much nicer.

I spent a few hours testing with various models and tweaking the texture to make sure they all fit well enough. I'm finally happy with the results.

I believe, with the exception of the base game Meitou weapons, weapon icons (as seen in the inventory/user interface) are generated by the game based on your textures. The icons are generated then saved in one of your folders, so Items already generated wont have the new representative icon. This can be fixed by deleting the old icons.

Here are the instructions, it looks like a few steps but it only takes a second or two.

1. Go to Wherever your kenshi install is, Mine looks like this;
steamapps> common > Kenshi > Data > Icons
(This folder holds all the games non UI icons)

2. Search "5229"
(All the icons with 5229X are generally game generated meitou icons)

3. Highlight all 5229s and delete.


(This is completely safe, as the game generates the icons based on the texture for these weapons, and will just regenerate them with the new textures, so if you do uninstall my mod and want them to go back to vanilla, just do this again)


Free reign: feel free to re-upload, edit, fix, copy and paste, pretty much whatever you'd like with the contents of this mod. I'm not picky, but I've recently moved (again) for school, so if anyone wants to repurpose this, don't hesitate! Really! Go wild with literally anything I've uploaded!
