Who to Sacrifice and What You Get
When asked to perform a sacrifice in order to seal the blade, you have several options, though some may not be available depending on what actions you took during earlier sections of Amiri's Quest.

If you choose to sacrifice Nilak, the sword is sealed as a +4, Vicious Weapon

If you choose to sacrifice the former chieftain of the Six Bears tribe, the sword is sealed as a +4, Frost Weapon.

If you choose to sacrifice yourself, the sword is sealed as a +4, Furious Weapon.

If you choose to kill the giant, the sword does not receive an immediate upgrade. However, if you're patient, then the giant's brother will eventually appear just as promised. Killing them results in the sword gaining the +4, Furious and 2D8 cold damage.

As you can see, killing the two giants seems like the best option to go with, if you want Amiri's sword to be as powerful as possible. However, the time at which this happens might be so late in the game, that you don't even care anymore. So feel free to make whichever choice you want!

you don't need to kill the two giants to get the best version of the blade. You can find the best version in the house at the edge of time in the room where Amiri is dream trapped

...Know that such a weapon exists? After reading this, it felt pretty intuitive to me that if it wasn't a random chance when camping on the map (like, say, much of Tristian's romance dialog) it would be at that point in time. Going to the alternate version of her room and killing whatever I found there (which was a frost giant, though not *the* frost giant) was the first thing I did once I got her back. Even then though, I went through almost the entire rest of the dungeon, just had the hag and Worm-that-Walks left to kill, before I thought "hey, maybe I need to go back there in the *same* version that I found Amiri" and lo, there he was.

Amusingly, even though the description says it's Amiri's old sword, it is actually a completely separate weapon, and you'll still have the Masterwork version you reforged. This gives me a sneaking feeling that this final hidden outcome wasn't 100% finished before it got shipped.

So, wait... I have to enter the room where Amiri is and re-recruit her. Leave the room, then head right back in? How the hell did they expect anybody to figure that out? There's no compelling reason to why you would even want to go back to what seems to be an empty room!

Okay, here's how it goes to get the "best" blade of the bunch:

After you take the third (fourth?) option to kill the giant, you have to wait until you've reached the House at the Edge of Time (so unless you take Armag's blade, Amiri will be without a "proper" bastard sword for all of chapter 6 and the first bit of 7). After re-recruiting Amiri, you have to leave that map, and then reenter the same version, probably with her. The evil brother Kean will be there, kill him and he'll have the Graveyard of Giants (best blade) on him along with some other +5/+6 gear. Graveyard of Giants is also a +5 blade that does not have the normal penalties for being oversized, on top of the furious and cold. So while it might not have the speed and spells of Armag's Sword, it does hit a lot more often (which is a plus considering all the high-AC enemies you're fighting at the time.)

Might have to first return to the other version of the map and kill the named giant that will spawn there first.

Did you guys find out how to trigger the brother to attack?

Actually, I would like to know this, too. He never appeared for me, which I found very aggravating. Basically I missed an opportunity to improve her sword!

I only found out the double brother sword existed, because I found it while running Beneath the Stolen Lands on Rogue Mode.

If you choose to kill the giant, how long does it take for his brother to appear?
