Introduction
Hello everyone,

Here's a short and simple guide to disabling the intro videos of the game! It'll instantly jump to the "press any button" start screen when launching the game, and updates/patches to the game do not reverse this process (so far). This involves renaming a few files so that the game no longer detects them.
The short version
1. Navigate to your game install and go to the movies folder.
Default: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Remnant\Remnant\Content\Movies

2. Rename the mp4 files to something else. Personally I like to add ".bak" (backup) as an extension, so that I can simply remove that to return the files to their original names and filetype. See the final section of this guide if the extension is invisible to you.
End result:

OPTIONAL:
3. Performing this fix causes the main menu to stop displaying your character. If you would like to avoid this issue, only rename the Gunfiregames file and leave the other alone.

Apparently the game checks if the videos are playing first before loading in the extra menu elements. So you can kinda trick the game by allowing the perfect world logo, but disabling the gunfire games logo. Seeing as the perfect world logo is only about a second long, it barely effects startup time anyway.

The longer version for dummies (that's a joke)
1. Open Steam. Right-click on Remnant: From the Ashes in your list of games. Select "properties".

2. Go to the "Local Files" tab and click the: "Browse Local Files" button.

3. File Explorer will automatically open and navigate to where the game is installed. We're not in the right folder yet though.

4. From where you are now, open the following folders in order: Remnant > Content > Movies.

5. This is where the game's intro movies are located. Simply rename the files to something else by right clicking them and selecting "Rename". It doesn't really matter what you change it to, but make it something recognizable so that you can revert your changes if you need to.

OPTIONAL:
6. Performing this fix causes the main menu to stop displaying your character. If you would like to avoid this issue, only rename the Gunfiregames file and leave the other alone.

Revealing file extensions
PS: If you can't see the .mp4 file extension part of the file and would like to use the same method I used, here's how to reveal it on Windows 10:
1. Go to "Change Folder and Search options" in the "View" menu of File Explorer.

2. Go to the "View" tab in the window that pops up, scroll down a bit, and disable "Hide extensions for known file types".

3. Filetypes should now be visible.
Lastly...
Please feel free to rate the guide and leave any feedback below in the comments if you feel I should change something, and check the comments below if you need more help!

Thank you!

'-novid' stopped working I think for Apex legends season 7.. Previous data had shown that it was used for season 6 successfully tho.. The solution there was '-dev' to skipping the loud af intro/dev videos at start. At my opinon the 'dev' in there means just that and there's a '-' before it, so that means 'Negative' :steambored:

Who is opening their game so frequently that they can't pay the 30 second respects to the people who spent so much time making this game

@Fang I figured something out. You can have 2 x 0 byte files instead of the movie splashes.

So for example, back up the video files to a zip in the same folder, then rename the splash movies as .bak or delete them completely (I recommend deleting them, as you've already backed them up to ZIP, right?)

Then Right Click a space in the same folder>Create Bitmap file>Name it PerfectWorldLogo.mp4
Right Click another space in the same folder>Create Bitmap File>Name it GunFireGamesLogo.mp4

You now have 2 x 0 byte bitmap files, that are "read" as "MP4" files, tricking the game into thinking it's the splash movies. You will still get the sound from the splash, but you will go almost instantly to the PRESS ANY KEY screen, and you will see your character in the menu too.

HTH someone :):lunar2019grinningpig:

-novid does NOT work. I'd stick to this method that's been posted by the author to ensure you skip the intros

@Gretel Nice of you to alert me to this. I don't really... care that much. It doesn't look like a massively popular blog anyway. They could've posted a little link to the original though... I'll fill out the google form just out of spite, seeing as I'm far from the only one.

If someone finds it there and it helps them, all the better. It's not like I'm getting paid for this. :steammocking:

But thank you, really. :D:
