UPDATE WHEN???
corsairmarks Nov 26, 2021 @ 4:31pm
@Ape Gamer there's a chance your Launcher is aggressively holding onto the cached copy in its database.

You could try the nuclear option [stellaris.paradoxwikis.com].

Caveat: this will destroy all your playsets, so it is highly recommended that your export any your want to keep before purging. To export, go to the "Playsets" tab in the Launcher, click the "..." next to the playset name dropdown to get a popup. Choose the options to "Share" the playset - you will be prompted to choose whether the save (download) the file or just copy it to your clipboard.

I helped Auren test out the update - I experienced the same thing as Darkstrider19. The mod is up-to-date, it's just Steam and the Launcher not fully agreeing about file downloads.

Unsubscribe from tis mod, close the Paradox Launcher and Steam, ensure this mod's folder (usually %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\281990\1840797321 on Windows 64-bit) is removed. Then open Steam, resubscribe and wait for the download to finish. Then open the Launcher, wait for it to detect your mods, then go to "All installed mods" in the left menu bar, and select the "Reload installed mods" button (upper right, looks like a circular arrow). In the dialog the opens, check the box for "Update from server" and choose "Reload."

After these steps, you should have a fresh, up-to-date copy of the mod. These troubleshooting steps also work on any Stellaris mod that is not updating or downloading correctly.

Before updating the mod be sure to unsubscribe from it first, completely clear it out from your launcher by removing the mod from both your All Installed Mods list and any Playsets it was in, and then resubscribe to the mod.

For some reason the update won't properly download as long as the old version is still in the launcher. However, completely removing the mod from the launcher and then resubscribing seems to fix this issue.

it appears we are missing a descriptor file. . . . . most tragic

Glad that helped! I replied on Discord - I'm happy to help you figure out anything else that's changed since back in 2.3

Guess that's why I couldn't figure out the real problem. Removing local files fixed the empty download issue for me at least. I did send a Discord message since the original issue was that trying to update past 2.3.3 broke something, but I never figured out the cause, and I would like to since I want to get my mods back up to date.

@Auren Dawnstar - you may have run into the infamous "you can't subscribe to your own mod" issue. If you have a local copy of a mod and the Steam workshop copy, the game totally ignores both of them (even though the launcher can see them).

Try (temporarily) moving or deleting the .mod file of you local copy if you are trying to test the uploaded Steam version.
