Prop Hunt Mode

Description
Prop Hunt mode for Left 4 Dead 2
Prop Hunt / Hide and Seek add-on for Listen/Dedicated Server
Please read all information from the description so that you do not have problems.

Note
You need to start the game as Versus (optional)
This add-on will conflict with: Admin System

Features
  • 1 Miss Shot = 5 HP Damage, 1 Kill = 50 Award HP
  • Preparatory round lasts 35 sec, game round - 5 min
  • The mode has custom HUD Timer and living props counter
  • Prop player can take and release props [E and MOUSE3]
  • Prop player can use a vomit attack [MOUSE3]
  • Game state checker throughout the round
  • Ready Up System [Disabled initially]
  • To freeze your prop you must don't move 1 sec
  • Client menu for simplify play
  • Third person supports
  • Weapon swing disabled

Client Menu
The mode includes a client menu, which you can use by writing the following bind in the console: bind i "show_menu menu"
After that, press the i button and the client menu will open on the left.

Also, it will conflict with some add-ons, for example, Admin Menu. Therefore, I recommend to disable them in case of conflict.

Prop Hunt Functional
Commands
!callvote - call vote to change map (for example: !callvote c1m1) [Both] !readyup - turn ready up system (Disabled initially) [Host Only] !ready - toggle your game status to ready [Both Teams] !unready - toggle your game status to unready [Both Teams] !rst - restart the game [Host Only] !list - list of ready players (Ready Up System) [Both Teams] !hint - give a hint to the hunters [Prop Only] !tp - toggle third-person mode [Prop Only] !jh - join a team of hunters [Prop Only] !jp - join a team of props [Hunter Only] !switch - select each prop in order [Prop Only] !random - choose a random prop model [Prop Only] !choose - choose a random prop via a value (for example: !choose 7) [Prop Only]

sv_hns_award_health <default: 50> sv_hns_miss_damage <default: 5> sv_hns_hunter_max_health <default: 300> sv_hns_vomit_attack_delay <default: 30> sv_hns_prop_light_color <default: "55 255 55">

Hotkeys
  • Press [E] to take physic prop and get his model (Preparation round) [Prop Only]
  • Press [ZOOM Button] to release a prop (Preparation round) [Prop Only]
  • Press [ZOOM Button] to use a vomit attack (Game round) [Prop Only]

Supported Maps
  • Dead Center (w/o finale)
  • Dark Carnival (1, 2, 4 map)
  • Swamp Fever (1, 3, 4 map)
  • Hard Rain (1 map)
  • The Parish (1, 3 map)

My suggestion to do a useful binds
bind 0 "slot10" // For fixing the cancel button bind i "show_menu menu" bind h "say_team !random"

FAQ
[Q] Why are there so few supported map?
[A] Finding a venue for a game, creating entities to block paths and most importantly is finding and writing characteristics for each found prop takes a lot of time. Of course, I will add new scripted maps, but at the moment there are only these. If you want to make own scripted map, then you can explore my works in add-on_file/scripts/vscripts/hns_scripted_maps/

[Q] Why are props has lags?
[A] I had two choices for creating a prop model:
  1. Use the model index and simply change it to the current one for the player, that is the current player model will be replaced with the same one interpolated, but the minus here is that I couldn't create a freеze command and adjust the hit box to the new model.
  2. Create a separate prop and change its position and angles each game frame, I did implemented the second method.

[Q] I saw some props that were not used in the script, why aren't they used?
[A] Due to circumstances unknown to me It's impossible to spawn them.

Instructions:
1. Make sure all players have subscribed to mod on Steam
2. Start a new l4d2 lobby using VERSUS mode
3. Make sure server is LOCAL
4. Make sure the map you choose is one of the ones listed above
5. Start game and press "i" key to choose different props
