Platform Buildings

Description
Add platforms to your game, such as the swamper platforms, and the one found at flats lagoon. Old buildings are incompatible with the platforms, so copies of all of them that can be placed on platforms are found under a new construction tab "Platform Buildings".

Outpost type buildings are somewhat strange and do not work correctly with platforms, so even if you research them you cannot build one on a platform.

Swamp platforms research can be unlocked at a level 2 research bench, and you need a level 5 bench to get the "Huge Platforms" research that grants the ability to make the flats lagoon platforms.

Placement of the flats lagoon platform is somewhat finnicky, so you may want to place it FIRST, and build the rest of your town around/on it.

Additional info:

The hard part of this was not allowing the player to place the platforms, but rather making copies of items that you can place on the platforms. In kenshi, any building or placeable item is made out of "parts" in the game files, you can see these in the editor. Collisions are actually handled in these parts, NOT in the item itself. This is represented by two values, "above ground" and "affects footprint". "footprint vertical" also matters, along with "ground type". This mod just makes copies of each of the parts of a building that affect the footprint, with the value "affects footprint" set to false. I made sure to make copies of each building, since this actually has a number of other side effects. One such side effect is that doing this allows buildings to be placed on pretty much any surface, at any angle. Because of this, the buildings in my mod can be stacked (you could, say, place a guard tower on top of another guard tower). I know for a fact that you could make lights placeable on the platform by just taking the same approach of making a copy of the light item itself, and a copy of any part that affects the footprint, and then swapping out the values, I just never thought to do it. I didn't really have the patience to do this for any more than just the basic buildings in the game, though there is no reason that you couldn't do it with everything else. I tried to do this with walls, however I ran into problems with connecting them. I wouldn't say for certain that this approach would not work for walls, the problems I ran into might just be due to my inexperience with modding this game. For more info, you should look at the mod "Artificial Island Project Poseidon", the guy who made that had a lot more useful tips on this sort of thing outlined in the comments.

even the small platforms require almost as many building materials as a watchtower

works on saved games?

Still works for me. I'm using Living World, Slopeless and Better Building System, for clarity's sake.

Three issues that people should aware of ahead of time, though:
--After you've placed & built your platform/s, go ahead and save & reload the game. Until you do the engineer job AI will be *entirely* incapable of operating on the platforms.

--Some of the platform versions of buildings partially latch onto nearby settlements rather than recognizing yours. You'll need to use Shift+F12 to remove them. You can set their public/private and locked/unlocked setting, though, strangely enough.

--A lot of objects can't be placed directly onto them. Storage, lights, wind turbines, etc. If it can't be placed inside or atop a building, it's going to have to be on the dirt. Like an animal. So plan for this ahead of time.

does this still work?

Let's see if it doesn't work, I just won't turn it on, and if it works and differs from FB, then I'll include it in my modpack and point you in the credits with a link to the mod!)

Yeah sure, go right ahead. Haven't looked at this in about a year, though, so I don't know if patches affected it or not. I would assume it works fine still, though.

Hi, can I use your mods in my build?
