Description
The Douglas A-1 Skyraider was a medium sized ground attack aircraft built just after the end of WWII. Originally, it was considered obsolete, due to the introduction of jet aircraft. However, the Skyraider proved to be a reliable platform. It was able to carry more than its own weight in armament, with 15 hard points under the wings. It was robust, able to take lots of damage, and was famous for its toughness. It performed well in Vietnam and Korea, providing close air support. The Skyraider remained in service till the early 70s, and is one of the most famous ground attack aircraft in existence.
