Keen Hunter Achievement

A guide on where to find all the required entries for the hunter's journal which unlocks both keen + true hunter achievements. Only general locations are provided for unmissable mobs.

Introduction

The following is the list of mobs I assume is required in order to get the hunter's mark, if you have info on which ones are strictly required and which ones are optional feel free to let me know. What I can confirm, however, is that all Grimm Troupe mobs (Grimm and Grimmkins), dream bosses (Lost Kin, Soul Tyrant, White Defender and Failed Champion), The Hollow Knight, Radiance plus Zote and all sorts of abominable zotelings are not counted in this achievement.

If you're here because you have only one missing entry and cant for the life of you figure out which, I'd suggest you check if you have:

• Aluba (Greenpath)
  
• Pale Lurker (Colosseum of Fools)
  
• Crystal Crawlers (Crystal Peak)
  
• All four corpses (Goam, Garpede, Lumafly, Void Tendrils)

Forgotten Crossroads

Hidden Mobs

The menderbug is responsible for fixing the sign at the entrance to the crossroads. There's a 2% chance that it will appear once the sign is destroyed and the area is reloaded. It is important to note that the menderbug will flee before the player can get any closer, so the way to kill it is to use desolate dive before entering the well in dirtmouth.

The goam corpse can be found before the entrance to fungal waste underneath a breakable floor. Desolate dive is required to access the corpse.

Greenpath

General mobs

Hidden Mobs

I had no idea you can kill these. They are found flying around Lake of Unn. It's easier to take them down if you have monarch's wings / howling wraiths.

Hidden Mob

Technically they should be filed under mobs in queen's gardens, but you can already gain access to them if you know where the hidden wall to the moss chapel is. Mossy vagabonds can be found circling around the moss prophet and will attack as soon as the player enters the room. If you are too late (broken vessel is defeated) and all of them are already dead due to infection, you can still inspect their corpses for the journal entry.

The reason why it took me so long to complete the hunter's journal, this is the missing one. This elusive a**hole, vermin, bane of my existence can be found behind a breakable wall above the colosseum of fools hotspring. The coward will try to run away once it sees the player, make sure your soul meter is full before you go looking for this sad excuse of a "boss".

I could be blind but i think you still need the maggots you encounter before doing failed champion, it was the last one that my friend was missing and it wasnt included in the guide

Thanks for this guide and the locations. I was able to get achievement and then look for the hunter's mark (in my case 157/157). About the nº in journal, I looked on another web (Hollow Knight Wiki) and tell you there're 168 entries (4 are: Hunter's mark, Seal of Binding, Void Idol and Weathered Mask, but it doesn't count), so it is reduced to 164. 146 entries are required for the achievement. If someone wants to consult it, you can go to that page. I still need some achievements to check that number of entries in journal (164).

Thanks, just had to scroll through the pictures, Idk if it's common but I did my first run (and did a 112% run) and I missed the "Duranda" because I believe you only come across one and for me I just crystal dashed right past it. Not sure if it's worth noting or not, but I never even considered to kill it at the time when I was near it in game
