QudUX

Description
QudUX is not currently up-to-date with the game and may not work as expected.

Check out the video for a quick overview of all QudUX features!

Individual features can be toggled on or off in the game Options menu.

Journal Improvements
  • You can now mark the locations of legendary creatures that you encounter. They'll be saved in your journal along with their faction associations. Either press "M" while looking at them, or choose the interaction option (Press Ctrl+Space next to them). There is also a configurable keybind to batch-mark all legendaries on the current screen.
  • Ruins are no longer named "some forgotten ruins." Every ruin has a unique name.

Find Village Quest Givers

Adds new dialog options in villages to help you locate the quest-givers more quickly. If you ask a villager to help you find the quest giver, a visual effect shows you where they are.

Customize Your Character
Pick your character's sprite. You can choose any sprite from the game or from other mods you've installed. You can change your sprite at any time during a playthrough with a configurable keybind or by wishing for "sprite menu".

You can now also flip any sprite in the character sprite selection menu, or by wishing for "fliptile"!

(Previously you could choose your sprite during character creation. This feature isn't available for now, but may be added back at a later time.)

Enjoy Improved Menu Screens
  • Revamped inventory screen. Includes category tabs and allows you to offload less-used items to an "Other" tab. Press 0 or . to toggle between showing item weight and item value-per-pound.
    • If you have enabled the "use prerelease inventory" game option, that will override QudUX's inventory. You must disable that option to allow QudUX's inventory to work.
  • New cooking screens. Preview ingredient effects before you cook. Easier ingredient selection and recipe management.
  • Revamped abilities screen. See true willpower-adjusted cooldowns and full descriptions for every ability, instead of just the ability name (requires using classic UI by disabling the "Enable modern UI elements" option)
  • A new Game Stats menu. Review your high scores in a consolidated format! (Thanks to contributor lepoulpe303 for adding this menu.)
    • Access it from the classic UI main menu High Scores screen (press Tab) or by using the new keybind in-game. You can also wish for "Gamestats Menu".

Quick Pick-up Feature
Quickly view a list of all interesting items on your current map screen, and pick them up automatically, by pressing a configurable hotkey (Ctrl+0 by default). Works similar to auto-explore, but only picks up the items you have choosen. You can configure which items will appear in the Quick Pick-up List by setting up your preferences in the corresponding menu (Ctrl+5 to open the menu by default).

Ask Traders When They'll Restock
Lore-friendly dialog options allow you to ask traders when they'll restock. (Note that the option won't appear until after you actually look at the trader's current stock and then re-start a new conversation with them.)

  • Mod includes specialized bear-emote dialog for Sparafucile 🐻
  • Traders that don't restock won't get this new dialog option at all

More Floating Text Feedback
When trying to enter a new screen/zone, if a wall is blocking you, a small animated text banner will tell you the way is blocked. Similar text lets you know when you've paused before entering deep or dangerous liquids.

Disable Pulsed Field Magnets
The mod includes an option to completely disable the magnetism effect of pulsed field magnets[cavesofqud.gamepedia.com] which rips away all of your inventory items. This option is off by default, but can be enabled in the game options menu.

Disable Auto-Pickup for Specific Items
Choose the "disable auto-pickup" option from the item interaction menu if you want to stop auto-pickup for a specific item, such as ape pelts or HE missiles. This features works as a secondary layer on top of any base game options you configure for auto-pickup.

Install / Uninstall Notes
It's safe to install QudUX on an existing playthrough that you've already started. As noted above, if you previously enabled the "prerelease inventory" or "prerelease trade menu" game options, you'll need to disable them in order for QudUX's menus to show up.

If you decide you want to uninstall QudUX mid-way through a character playthrough, use the "Uninstall QudUX" wish before you remove the mod to attempt to safely clean QudUX from the save and allow continued play on that save. It should work in most cases.

Footnotes
  • My personal thanks to Vé.Aisse and lepoulpe303 who have each made major contributions to this mod!
  • You can use this mod with modern UI elements enabled, but a few features may not work in those modes. For example, the QudUX ability menu is not available when modern UI is enabled.
  • You can find this mod's source code on github.[github.com]
  • Shout out to the modders and other good folks on the Caves of Qud Discord![discordapp.com]

Hi friends. As noted in the description, this mod doesn't work right now, and I would recommend against using it until it can be updated. While I don't have specific plans to make an update right now, I do still cherish Qud and hope to return to this at a later time. In the meantime, I'm always open to other members of the community helping to bring the mod up-to-date. Feel free to submit a pull request on GitHub and I'm more than happy to help with those kind of updates and with publishing them to the mod page / adding new contributors.

Best wishes!

@Dissident I think that's an unfair way of looking at it. They're making huge projects for absolutely free, and live their lives on the side lol. Of course we want to see it updated, but be hopeful instead of judgemental :)
