DISCLAIMER
Every non-gameplay statement on this page, especially the lore at the bottom, shall be regarded purely as sci-fi and alternative history settings. They are based on long-existing urban legends about WWII German flying saucer, and the film Iron Sky. This craft and its description are not intended to represent or promote the ideology of real-world WWII German regime in any means.

There is much I want to write down, sorry for a long text!
Also, please let me know if you encounter any problem, especially if the hatch is blocked.

Descriptions & Instructions
Haunebu II is basically a disc-shaped flying bunker powered by an infinite energy source, the Vril.
This craft in this configuration is fun to fly around with Alt+F12 infinite fuel cheat and SAS on.
For serious pilots, it can also become a fully functional spacecraft with ~2400m/s vacuum dV and high TWR, ISRU, RCS, docking and reentry capabilities, basic science package and 7 seats. Please check for Haunebu II/A 11 Mondrakete for that configuration.

100% Stock, 161 parts. Root part is the Mk1-3 command pod.

AG1=horizontal control point
AG2=vertical control point
AG3=toggle docking port cover/antenna
AG4=toggle bottom turrets/mining drills and ladders.
AG5=toggle mining and ISRU operation
AG8=conduct experiments
AG0=toggle engine

Key Features
- Urban legend come alive!
- Fun to fly in atmosphere
- Perfect CoL, CoT and CoM balancing (0.00kNm thrust torque)
- Optionally serious and practical spacecraft / lander
- Solely and sufficiently powered by 12 RTGs

Design Notes
- This is a complete remake of my Haunebu Flying Disc (too ugly, is hidden) using stock parts only. The lore is also rewritten.
- In order to conduct actions on the Mk1-3 command pod such as crew transfer, you have to get the camera view inside the craft and very close to the command pod. (Thus it's recommended to have EVA-busy crews sit in the Mk2 crew cabin.)
- The same applies to the narrow band scanner in the front, on the ISRU unit.
- Its landing gears should be able to freely rotate allowing taxing in any direction, but stock KSP doesn’t allow it. However, it grants quite stable self-braking in current configuration.
- Weapons are part of a combat vehicle design. If you don’t like them, please don’t simply remove them, but retract the drills and offset the gun shield DIRECTLY DOWNWARDS holding the Shift key, so that it remains perfectly balanced. Or you’ll have to manually balance it pixel by pixel, which is a PITA.
- The same actually applies to everything on board.
- The Kettenkrad in the 2nd picture comes from here[kerbalx.com].
- My lore is quite different from the "original" urban legends around German flying saucers, because...many of them are just too far from reality, especially the claims that something with this shape could achieve Mach 4 at low altitude and eventually hypersonic speeds...I choose to set it to be relatively slow-flying gunship and bunker instead.

Lore
Named after its birth place, the Reichsversuchsanstalt (Reich’s research institute) Hauneburg, this exotic aerial vehicle is a heavily armored and heavily armed flying bunker for both defensive and offensive operations.

Its development started long before the war with the discovery of a mysterious energy source hidden in the fabrics of space-time, the Vril. Via an electromagnetic system and its uniquely shaped hull, Haunebu II generates a downwards-facing Vril field to counter gravity, and ejects ionized Vril particles to provide thrust. This allows this bulky vehicle to lift off easily and stay airborne for almost unlimited time. It’s easy to imagine that, with proper modifications, it’s even spaceflight-worthy.

Haunebu II is armed with 9x KSK (Kraftstrahlkanone, force beam cannon) in 4 turrets, a direct-energy weapon projecting devastating focused pulses of Vril force field towards the enemy. Slow charging of this weapon, however, limits its effect.

It mainly serves two purposes:
- High-altitude interception of Allied bomber squadrons: A few Haunebus would be able to wipe out an entire bomber formation without a scratch. This almost completely stopped Allied strategic bombing operations. They had to introduce escort aircraft with high caliber recoilless rifle and heavy rockets in order to conduct bombings in a much smaller scale.
- Gunship or flying bunker for ground support missions thanks to its heavy armor and armament.

Despite all the superior advantages, its biggest problem is the lack of speed and maneuverability especially at low altitude. Its overall shape is optimized for the generation and focusing/shaping of the Vril field, and is poorly aerodynamic. Carefully aimed or lucky heavy projectiles may still do damage to its weak spots. Secondly, the Vril particle propulsion system has extreme heat emission associated with unique bright glowing light, which in turn limits its performance (heat management problem) and makes it easy to spot at night.

Due to fast technological leaps of all sides, the war raged on through the year 1946, and its theater even extended towards outer space. The Haunebu series played an increasingly important role in military operations of the Third Reich, both on the earth and off the earth, until its final defeat in the 1950s. With intentional destruction of all airframes and missing research documentations, no other country managed to reproduce its magical propulsion technology ever again. As for how the “Fourth Reich” manages to stay hidden on the moon until the mid 21st century, that’s another long story.
