Basic ladder movement

A quick guide to help you improve your movement with ladders~

Introduction

Ladders; they’re everywhere!

Ladders have been a part of counter strike since the beginning and they were always kinda finicky about how they should be used.

Which is the reason why I’m making a guide to help you guys improve your movement with ladders and use the glitchiness of them to your advantage.

Dos and don'ts

Before we begin there’s a few things we need to memorize for better results in the end ^^'

• Never try to shoot down an enemy while you’re climbing a ladder or staying stationary in a part of it, shooting is a different story when you’re using ladders as there’s no patterns to follow it’s all random, that’ll only make you an easy target for the enemy and even in higher ranks I still see it happen which is.. ミ(ノ_ _)ノ
  
  
• Try not to hit jump while you’re using a ladder unless you know what you’re doing(to all movement/kz players out there) as it will throw you away from itself ending in taking fall damage, dying, making noises and exposing your location.
  
  
• If you find yourself bumping into ladders in maps like "Train" as you try to go down, try to look up and then proceed. This way you won't get stuck and die instantly~ An easy one that all of us forget and it's mentioned a lot in well known youtuber tutorial videos.
  
  
• By no means these are necessary to master to be good at the game consider them as some tips that'll make the game a bit easier and more enjoyable.

Quick climbing

Quick climbing? Yes you heard it right! There’s a way to climb ladders faster, in fact there’s a lot of things you can do with ladders in source engine based games it’s quite impressive.

Normally 90% of the players climb ladders by holding “W” looking up which is totally fine but with a few more quirks you can climb up faster than the rest and have an advantage compared to them.

Let’s get to how it’s done right:

1. First run into the ladder as you usually would but here’s where it gets a little more interesting.
   
   
2. You want to look up at an angle of your choice while looking up, left or right it doesn’t matters as long as you’re comfortable with one of them!
   
   
3. Now what you do after that is holding “W” and “A or D” depending on the angle you’re looking at, if you’re looking at left you want to use “D” and vice versa if you’re looking at right which will end up in you holding “A” instead.

By doing this you save yourself almost half a second while climbing up a ladder which is always good to know~

Quick fall

Quick fall; now I do realize it sounds risky and all that but trust me it’s not!

You are basically falling while the ladder is holding you, you won’t fall as long as you follow through!

Good thing about this is that you make absolutely no noise if done right~

What you want to do is:

1. Fall down while you’re touching the ladder.
   
   
2. Once you start falling make sure to hold your walk button “left shift by default” and hit “W” or forward button before you hit the ground.
   
   
3. Continue going down the ladder while holding "left shift" to avoid making any noises.

That’ll basically stop you instantly without making any ladder or falling noise. the timing can be hard but like always practice makes perfect!

Ladder jump

Ladder jump; one of the trickiest yet satisfying things that you can do with ladders!

This one is gonna be a hassle at first but once you practice enough you’ll find it really easy.

Not to say that I don’t struggle with it myself of course ^^;

1. Climb the ladder slowly and then come down slowly till you’re at the bottom of it whilst not standing on the floor literally
   
   
2. Now try to jump and the glitch should work and make you jump more than usual!

At first it might not look a lot useful but for quick peeking in let's say "under palace" in "De_mirage" it definitely is useful and not just another thing to impress your friends with~

Examples

Big surprise, my pc is garbage.. i tried to record them doing everything by myself but the quality is really bad and i rather not share it with you guys as it is really painful to watch.

Luckily youtube comes to rescue!

There's a lot of skilled and talented people in the community that showcase these tricks and i'm going to share a few of those with you guys for better understanding or seeing a few words in action before trying them out.

This was obviously a short one but i really wanted to share it with regular and new players so we all can learn a thing or two together and get better in other things than just aiming and spraying~
