How to Disable/Remap the Emote Wheel
By heyitsmyles
EDIT: Recent updates appear to have patched in the ability to disable the emote wheel in-game. This guide can still helpful in case you'd like to remap your buttons when the in-game stuff fails you due to glitches and/or messing with .ini files where you stored your game files bothers you.

This guide WAS originally for those frustrated by the emote wheel disrupting gameplay after the Nyakuza DLC update launched. As a result of the update; the Emote Wheel was default mapped to the left Analogue stick (L3 Click) which is resulting in a lot of unfair deaths. The game has since been updated to address this issue. Thank you Gears for Breakfast for fixing this so quick!

Step 1: Go to your Library
Go to the game and look for this option! Go and click it and the controller options will appear.

Note: Your controller must be connected to the computer otherwise the Controller Configuration option will not appear.

(I am using an Xbox ONE controller connected via Bluetooth for this demo)

Step 2: Remap the Keys
Edit: It was pointed out to me that you can simply set the Back/Select Button to be the L3 Click and set the L3 Click to the Back/Select. That way you can still use the Emote Wheel. Other than that; follow the screenshots below to remap the L3 and Back/Select Buttons.

While the Camera Badge is mapped to the Back/Select Button; you can still use the Camera Badge by pressing Q on the keyboard and proceeding with your picture taking session with the mouse and keyboard.

Note: If you attempt to remap the L3 Button to anything shown on the keyboard or mouse inputs. The game will shift between Keyboard and Gamepad Mode during gameplay. I highly recommend the Back/Select Button as the game does not has this input mapped to anything.

Step 3: Run your Game
You will know if the remapping worked when you press the L3 Click and the wheel won't appear.

Now, if you wanted to still have the emote wheel. Go back to Step 2 and make sure you remap the Back/Select Button to have the L3 Click input.

Again, the Camera Badge is tied to the Back/Select Button. To activate the Camera mode after you've remapped the Back/Select Button. Use the Keyboard/Mouse controls for the camera mode.

If you're having issues, go back to Step 2.
Step 4: You did it!
If there is anything I overlooked; please feel free to add your thoughts in the comments section!

What do you mean when you say "The game has since been updated to address this issue. Thank you Gears for Breakfast for fixing this so quick!"
What exactly was fixed/updated? I'm asking because this problem of emotes popping up during clutch moments is still 100% a problem for my friend.

In the .ini file for whatever controller look for,

+Bind = Hat_Player_Emote
ButtonID = (Button ID)

Button ID's should be towards the top of the .ini file

Hold F to enable emote wheel. As far as I know you need dlc to unlock all stickers, without dlc you can enjoy 3 stickers

I have updated the guide with a way to still use Camera Mode with the remapped controls. Basically, hit Q on the keyboard to activate the badge and control camera mode with your keyboard and mouse (or hit Q and continue with the controller and then hit Q again to exit)

Actually back/select button is mapped to a camera mode.
And also you can just remove any mapping to a button, there is a "remove" button on the third screenshot at the bottom
