Mars - Better than Uranus!

Automated Tourism allows you to designate rockets to act like regularly scheduled tour operators for Mars.
A tourist rocket will leave Mars on a regular schedule to pickup tourists on Earth and bring them to Mars.
It will also pickup tourists on Mars ready to leave and return home.
All automatically.
You built a nice planet, send some ugly tourists.

Features

How It Works
Automatic Controls
A new button is added to each rocket. Its a tourist with a camera on its neck.
If you hover over the button you will get information on tourists waiting on Earth and Mars.
Clicking this button will start the process for that rocket, turning it into a tourism rocket.
Its first task will be to travel to Earth to pickup a batch of tourists and then the process is automatic.

Picking Up/Delivering New Tourists
The very first thing the tourism rocket does is takeoff and go to Earth to pickup tourists.
The capacity of the sponsors' rocket governs the maximum amount of tourists it picks up from earth or the mod config option for maximum rocket capacity, whichever is smaller.
It will deliver the tourists back to the spot from where it took off from.
A countdown clock will start for when the next scheduled departure happens if no existing tourists want to return to Earth.
The rocket will travel to Earth regardless if you have tourists in your applicant pool or not, so be sure to start the process when you have a tourist waiting.

Recalling Tourists
After the rocket lands on Mars and if no existing tourists want to leave at that moment, a departure time countdown clock starts.
It is 5 sols from the moment it landed.
When the clock time is up the rocket issues a recall to all tourists that have been on Mars longer than 5 sols.
The recall can be heard within the range of the rocket which is painted around the rocket in a white circle.
If a dome is within that range, then any tourist in that dome will hear the recall notice and walk back to the rocket.
The rocket will wait 12 more hours to depart, allowing the tourists to get onboard, then return to earth.

Voyages and Departures
Voyages are shown in the info panel. Voyages are different than departures.
A departure is just that, a time when the rocket will leave Mars, for various reasons.
A voyage is a time when new tourists are ready for pickup from Earth.
To prevent tourism rockets from over saturating tourists on Mars, a voyage can only happen once every 5 sols from the time the pickup of a set of tourists from Earth happens.
Whether a rocket is delivering tourists or not, when the rocket lands, if there are tourists ready to leave it will start the recall process and depart in 12 hours, that is a departure.
When the rocket reaches Earth, if the next voyage time has not yet elapsed, then the rocket will return to Mars empty and wait 5 more sols, and start the recall process.
A tourism rocket can drop off returning tourists and pickup a new batch if the next voyage time has elapsed.

Landing Pads
Landing pads are optional. The blinky landing site thingy will light up regardless whether the rocket is on a landing pad or plain ground.
You can click the blinky landing thingy to see your rockets info panel anytime, even when traveling in space.

Recall Radius Circle
You can turn on or turn off the recall radius circle either globally via Mod Config Reborn settings, or per rocket.
For per rocket changes highlight the Automated Tourism section of the infopanel and right click.
Settings are ON, OFF or Mod Config Settable

Gameplay
Some things to consider when playing with Automated Tourism.
Keep your tourists wrangled in domes within the range of the Tourism Rocket using dome filters, otherwise tourists will not hear the recall.
Tourists do not work, they have flaws, will take up a residence spot, will reproduce, will wander to other domes, need to be fed and they all want to gamble. Keep that in mind when choosing a landing site.
New tourists are generated based on your holiday ratings from returning tourists.
Earthsick colonists will sneak onto a tourism rocket if they are within range hoping for a ride home.
You can turn off Automated Tourism on each rocket anytime, even while in space. You just then need to manage the rocket manually.
Tourists stay on Mars for at least 5 sols before they seek a rocket within walking distance to leave.
All tourists are stripped of their specialties - they are on vacation and cant work anyway. This will keep your universities working as expected.

Mod Config Options
  • Turn Entire mod on or off dynamically in game.
  • Change notification dismiss time.
  • Change maximum arriving tourists per rocket (no max on departures).
  • Change wait time between voyages.
  • Global setting for showing recall radius circle.
  • Allow early departures**
  • Allow express boarding**
  • Turn Strip Speciaties on and off for all arriving tourists.
  • Prevent departures on non tourist rockets**
  • Change the amount of food each tourist brings to Mars.
  • Turn on or off use of new Tourism Decal on AT rockets.

Allow Early Departures
Default is Set On, which means when an empty rocket returns to Mars, if a voyage is set sooner than the default departure time, use the voyage time as the departure.
Setting this to off extends the stay of the tourist rocket on Mars until the original departure time.

Allow Express Boarding
Default is set On, which means if you have tourists that have overstayed on Mars within the range of the rocket, the rocket will recall them within 6 hours and return them to Earth.

Prevent Departures on Non Tourist Rockets
Default is On. Tourists (and earthsick) when they want to return home will not board a rocket that is not a tourism rocket if at least one tourism rocket is running (doesnt matter where it is).
If you do not have any tourism rockets nominated then they will board the next landed rocket if in range.
This is handy if you have several rockets together in a space base.
Turning this off allows departing colonist to board any rocket to return home.

It is a binary choice. Tourist or Not Tourist. No other considerations.

I cut the tourists who has troublemaking traits, and select 20 tourists by that method. So I wonder this mod equip that function.

That sounds like a feature not a bug. Hop on the wrong transport, end up in the wrong place and deal with the consequences. :steammocking:

SkiRich is it possible to still bring tourist if "last ark" is enabled? I like that for the higher difficulty rating but last time I tried it I wasn't able to bring tourists(duh) haha..

Underground? I dont send a recall notice underground. Send me a save file and I'll test out some code to make it work. Put it on a share and post link. Use the Bug Reports section above. I dont have an underground colony to try yet since all I've been doing is fixing mods and not being able to play.
