Better Strike Craft

Description
Expands and improves on vanilla strike craft for your carriers:

There are effectively three classes of strike craft:

* Combat Fighters: short ranged, fast, maneuverable, less armor and shields, play an active point-defense role (and will attack other strike craft).
* Fighter-Bombers: medium ranged, nearly as fast as fighters, slightly better armored and shielded, are specialized for lasers, railguns, and autocannons.
* Bombers: long ranged, slower but better armored and shielded, are specialized for disruptors, plasma cannons, and energy torpedos.

New Icons for the various types of strike craft

Strike craft technologies go from Basic Strike Craft to Strike Craft Specilization I through V

Compatibility:

* This mod only adds files, it does not overwrite any vanilla files, so it should be fully compatible with everything else.
* This mod changes or adds game content, so it is NOT achievements compatible.
* This mod has explicit support for integrating with Guilli's Ship Components, but does not require it (more will be added if you use both).

Rationale:

* This mod allows for a completely upgraded game when used with other mods that enhance ships sections and/or ship's components.
* I recommend using this in combination with "Better Ships" and "Guilli's Ship Components"

This mod started out as a subset of At War: Enhanced Carriers, but has grown to include more types of bombers and to have built-in integration and compatibility with Guilli's Ship Components.

I am posting this with permission from, and much gratitude to, The Dadinator.

@Mordachai

Thanks for responding.

Unfortunately - the way that Stellaris shows you what's enabled - is by a single-dependency only.

So - although researching the given weapon tech unlocks that half of it - you also need the strike craft level appropriate to it.

It's both pieces.

And I don't have a way to show that in the tech tree.

My only other option is to not say anything in the tech tree at all - which is kind of dull / lame. So I choose this - but with this caveat.

When I research the weapon types it says that I should get strike craft that use that weapon, but I don't get the option to outfit my ships with them. Are you supposed to research normal strike craft first or something?

@Larry20 Can confirm that the mod still loads in 3.0. The mod defaults normal strike craft to Laser Fighter-bombers upon loading and vice-versa, meaning this mod is relatively easy to load and unload. I haven't played an extended game with this mod enabled yet, but I can't imagine that it would cause any major issues.

does this work with 3.0?

Ah, yeah, found & fixed. I'll update that sometime with a patch update. Thanks.

Level 2 energy torpedo bombers (the ones unlocked by Neutron launchers) are called "eneregy" bombers. I'll keep an eye out for more but that's the one that I noticed first because I almost always use energy torpedoes in my fleet builds.

feel free to bug me about typos. hard to see your own edits, eh?

also - not sure what issues you're seeing w/ tech tree. feel free to note them.

I'm not hugely active in this space currently, but I'll do a clean-up pass / touch-ups at some point.

Really like the additional depth that this adds to Strike craft. I like the fact that you included Combat fighters as a "default" because it really helps with compatibility. My only real criticism are some minor typos and some interface weirdness in the technology screen, but other than that this is pretty much exactly what I was looking for out of a strike craft mod.
