NOTE: The concept I'm describing here is still a work in progress.
This is my MASTER COLLECTION 1 -- It is a composite via LINKS of all of my individual asset collections. Currently there are 74 of these linked categorized asset collection folders. For now, I have finished creating my asset collection folders and have ordered the links to these folders so that they are in the same order to help in quicker location. I am now beginning (folder by folder) to move assets out of incorrect folders (where they were originally placed before I conceived of my organizational plan) and into their appropriate asset folders. (Eventually, some emptied folders will either be deleted or renamed to contain additional asset categories.) This process will take time. Once they are in place, and as I add even more assets, I will then have a quick method of looking for the particular asset I want or no longer want in a game, and a quick method of enabling/disabling desired/undesired assets. This will help me to minimize game-loading time by having enabled only those I am using in a game. (Some assets that I use will, of course have dependencies. Many of these dependencies will be left enabled in a particular asset folder I have created for needed dependencies. It's easier than choosing an asset and then having to find and enable all the dependencies. As far as I can so far tell, it doesn't require much memory for these dependencies and, so, does not too badly increase game-loading time. Further, certain often-used assets--certain decals, trees, plants, etc.-- will also remain enabled. If you are interested to see my progress or to look at my growing list of assets in each category, the easiest way is to find one of my collections (Example: "Bill's Park") and to then use the Linked Folders to navigate through this work. Also those assets I have chosen for my folders have been tested to see if they play in my game. Those that cause crashing or have other problems--including large batches of dependencies--will be culled out of my asset folders. Some assets I might like to have will not be included until I buy the requisite DLC. As of now I don't own either the Campus DLC or the Disasters DLC.
