Toronto, ON - city center - v1.0

Description
Realistic reproduction of the inner city of Toronto, ON, Canada. Toronto is a sprawling city and stretches from edge to edge on the map, leaving very little room for expansion.

Traffic is notoriosly bad in Toronto, and this reproduction suffered from equally terrible gridlock in early trials, especially the Don Valley Pkwy and the north end of the city. I decided to veer from pure realism and adjusted the road network to cope with the traffic load. The most significant changes compared to real life are:
- the Don Valley Pkwy has much larger and elaborate intersections and
- Rosedale Valley now has a large raised highway that goes into a network of feeder tunnels feeding from several avenues and roads (e.g. Jarvis St., Yonge St., Avenue Rd. and Spadina Rd.

Downtown is (surprisingly) not affected by bad traffic, so the downtown core is an exact replica of real-life (including the number of lanes in most cases).

In my experience the buildings tend to grow really fast on this map resulting in an early population boom and skyscrapers all over the city. The population will grow very rapidly past the 100k mark, even if no transport network is built. If this is not your style you may want to enable the"no city growth" option.

The sprawling city won't pose a challenge in terms of cash flow, it's relatively easy to set up a very profitable company. The challenge is to provide 100% coverage and to cope with the number of passangers in the dense map.

If you like the map please comment and rate! I'm also definitely open to any and all suggestions for future maps.

Credit goes to and base-map was created using maps4cim, with data from the OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors), which then was adjusted and modified by me.

Very nice job on this map. The precision is uncanny and very well done in most places. I don't mind the Rosedale improv so much; though the tunnelling is quite weird...Toronto hobbit holes anyone? And I see my apartment as well!

My biggest qualm is immediately obvious--the real-life super high density between Yonge and University isn't there...instead there's high rise nodes popping up in odd places like Leaside, Ossington and elsewhere....

Also, the original cluster you have for DT is placed too far west (I assume these are to represent the city's major skyscrapers)--again, this should be east of University. You missed York street--hardly a major artery but necessary to get the density needed in the DT corridor.

Also...the major gap between the Gardiner and the Lake should also be narrowed or filled in--this looks like TO twenty years ago!

With a few changes I reckon this could be one cracker of a map!! Good job.

do you think its possible for you to do London, ON? the city has a notoriously bad transit system right now.

Good job, really like your work on Canadian cities. Any chance you'd head out to the East end and do Durham region? Pick-Ajax-Whitby?

I really like that you did Toronto. My suggestion is not another city, but to build a scenario around it. I have been playing around with the scenario editor and I would like to use this map for a scenario (perhaps with some modification).

@ Lord Sparkle Bottom: currently I don't have much time to make new maps unfortunately, but I'll keep it in mind for when spare time returns - thanks for the suggestion! :)
