USCG Long Range Interceptor LRI-II

Beskrivelse
*Updated 29 April* Added new windows, heater for arctic operations, fixed engine RPM gauge, and replaced old searchlight with new compact model, reducing some topside weight and increasing stability and top speed slightly.

New advanced model of my LRI II. The original creative version can be found here.

This is a model of the Long Range Interceptor II in use by the US Coast Guard aboard the Legend-class National Security Cutters for the purpose of tracking and interdicting vessels of interest through pursuit tactics. The LRI-II is built by Metalcraft Marine and is a 35' dual jet-drive boat powered by a pair of Cummins QSB 6.7L diesel engines. The dual jet-drive design allows for a shallower draft and a hull free of protrusions in order to facilitate the launching from the stern notch of a WMSL, and the reverse buckets allow for infinitely-variable thrust vectoring and control. The LRI-II has 3 crew seats and 4 boarding team seats inside the cabin, as well as 8 passenger seats on the aft deck.

It has all of the original features of the creative design, but some additional advanced features:
-Dual fuel tanks with fill port valve on the port aft cabin with a valve switch located under the port engine room hatch
-Electric generator powered engines provide fuel economy for 2 - 5 hours of use depending on speed
-Engine battery breaker to disconnect all non-essential items when the boat isn't in use
-Engine key button linked to a microcontroller which will automatically stop cranking once the engine turns over and will automatically secure the engine once the key is turned off. No need to do it manually.

**Allow the engine at least 4 seconds to fully crank over. The key will stay in the on position but the microcontroller will stop it from cranking once it's finished. To turn the engine off, turn the key off and the engine will shut down automatically.**

With the jet drive design, the throttle is controlled with the Up/Down keys which increases how much power is going to the waterjets and subsequently the amount of water pushed out and the speed possible, but speed itself is controlled using W/S which controls the reverse buckets. Bringing the buckets all the way up will allow the boat to move forward, while all the way down will allow the boat to move astern. ** Because of the way jet drives direct thrust, when reversing, the bow will move the same direction as when moving forward, not the opposite as with a boat with a traditional propeller. Using this, the bucket can be dropped about 3/4 of the way down, which will stop all momentum without needing to use the throttle. With the boat stopped using the bucket, the boat can spin freely in place without moving, allowing it precise control and tight maneuvering in close quarters.

If there are any issues with the model or it's handling, or if you would like to leave me feedback or use this model in one of your creations, please send me a message first and credit me for the build.
