All Zeros Intoduction
"All Zeros" (AZ) literally means to obtain all zeros statistics at the end of a mission. So every stat (i.e. civilians killed, accidents, shots fired) must have a "0" next to them. "Hitman 2: Silent Assassin" and "Hitman: Contracts" were two games in this franchise that allowed a player to complete a mission with all zeros on most, if not all, missions. Only the missions that required at least one shot fired could not be completed with all zeros.

For a long time this was considered the highest stat an assassin could achieve. Then came Blood Money with its new system of accidents. For the first time a player could kill a target with an accident, which introduced many new ways to eliminate. Since killing a target now counted against you, nobody could figure out a way to complete a mission with all zeros so most players assumed it wasn't possible. The only way a target could be killed without a number in the stat was by getting another NPC to kill the target instead, which seemed impossible.

Many years later a player (ShinraDream) discovered a way to get all zeros by running in circles around a target while guards shot in his direction, thus killing the target and exiting the map before dying. The problem with this strategy is that it could only be done on rookie difficulty and was only possible on a mission with one target. A player would have been murdered on Professional difficulty if attempting this method. So I invented a better strategy that almost anyone could perform flawlessly on Pro difficulty and still get a "Silent Assassin" (SA) rating, which is the highest rank possible. I literally came up with this solution in a dream I had.
What You May Need
I highly recommend this equipment before attempting an "AZ" run in Hitman: Blood Money. Health upgrades may not be required in missions with fewer targets, as long as you're able to get away without taking much damage. A better lockpick will help you get through doors faster.

  • 1. A bottle of Pain killers
  • 2. Adrenaline shot
  • 3. Upgraded vest
  • 4. Upgraded Lockpick

Understanding The Game
First things first, you need to understand how the game thinks before attempting an "AZ" run.

1. Trespassing is not a crime -- if you were to run past guards in Hitman 2, you would get many close encounters and alerts that would ruin your statistical rating. Luckily for you, someone at IO Interactive didn't code this feature into Hitman: Blood Money. In Blood Money you can trespass all you want to and run past any guard, and as long as you're not seen doing anything incriminating (i.e. holding a weapon, picking locks, killing) you will not get any numbers in your stats. For example, if you were to run through the front door of Vinnie Sinistra's house in the mission "A New Life" the guards would start shooting at you; but if you kill Sinistra without them seeing it they will not count against you. In fact, they will chase you all around the map shooting at you, but as long as they don't see you commit any crimes it won't matter.

2. Crouching near bodies is not a crime -- The same logic applies here as the example above. Let's say you knock out a person in a room, then you open the door and a guard rushes in. Immediately he halts you and asks you to leave. He doesn't notice the body right away. Usually he won't until you start crouching around it. Then your meter turns red and he starts calling for backup in his ear piece. Then he starts shooting at you. The other guards enter and start shooting at you as well. If you have already completed your objectives and exit the mission while they are still shooting it will not affect your final rating.

3. Bodies won't be discovered right away -- If you sedate an NPC and leave their body in a room and a guard later enters without you there, he will discover the body. That discovered body will show up in your stats. That's why we have dumpsters around, so that we can hide bodies. But if you are still in the room where a body lays and a guard enters, he will either tell you to leave or notice the body and start shooting at you. But him "noticing" the body is not the same as "discovering" the body. You need to know the difference. In order for a body to show up in your final stat a guard will have to have discovered the body in a normal fashion (i.e. without distraction). You'll know when this happens when you see one of them crouch down and examine a body. When he "notices" a body you're standing near, he's actually distracted by you. So, instead of him really registering that he's seeing a body, he's actually thinking "Hey, this guy is doing something wrong here!"

4. Guards will not shoot at conscious NPCs -- The main problem with running in circles around a target and hoping that the guards will shoot him and not you, is that they won't! As dumb as the AI is in this game, they are uncannily accurate when it comes to gun shots. If playing on harder difficulties they will almost always miss anyone in your way and hit you instead. And if they can't get to you they will aim and strafe until they have a clear shot. That's why we have to make sure the targets are unconcious before attempting an AZ playthrough.

5. Take advantage of the AI -- Now that you know how the AI in this game works, you need to take advantage of that. And guards work almost the same way as civilians. A civilian will only discover a body right away if they are not distracted; either by the player or by a noise. If a civilian hears a loud noise they will run away, if a guard hears a loud noise they will run to it. If a civilian sees you near a body they will at first crouch and cower and then run to the nearest authority.

6. Learn how to lure AI -- One important thing that I can't leave out. If you want to get another NPC or target in an area that they never go to you can try luring them. There's a few ways you can do this. If a civilian sees you in a restricted area he will chase after you to tell you to leave. Guards and targets will do the same thing. If you push a guard or target or flash them your weapon they will run after you while shooting. A civilian, on the other hand, will do the opposite. They will run to the nearest guard. If you're trying to get a target in an area by pushing or flashing a weapon you need to make sure they are either carrying a silencer or not able to shoot at you while chasing, because their gunshots can lure other authorities. This strategy is essential for getting All Zeros on some of the Blood Money missions.

6. Exit right away! -- Unless you are playing a normal game for fun you can stay around after you complete your objectives. But if you are trying to get All Zeros then you need to know your exit and leave right after the guards shoot your targets for you. If you hang around for too long you will either be murdered in gunfire or someone will discover the body(ies) and thus ruin your final AZ rating. And yes, even if they kill the targets and discover them later it still affects your stats.

If you think you understand how the game works now, move on to the next section in this guide.
Basic "All Zeros" Strategy
The basic and, so far, easiest way to obtain All Zeros in Hitman: Blood Money.

In order to do this you have to read through the above section and understand how the AI operates.

Since a guard will not shoot at another conscious NPC while you are standing behind him/her we have to improvise and get the NPC in a position that is impossible for the guards to not hit. For this we have to do two things.

1. Sedate or knock-out the target(s) -- If a target is conscious the guards will detect it as alive and something they have to avoid hitting. That's why when you run around in circles they will do their best to miss the target and hit you; or sidestep to get a better shot. But if the targets are unconscious and their bodies just happen to be between you and the guards the guards will see it as something blocking them and shoot right through it.

2. Place target's body in a blockable position -- Now that you have your target sedated, you have to make sure that his body is in a position that you can hide behind so that when a guard enters and sees he will shoot at you, but hit the body instead. You can do this in two ways.

  • A.) Sedate the target while he is sitting in a chair. But since only a few targets actually sit down in this game, this method will not work on all of them.

  • B.) Sedate the targets and drag them to a platform that is either above or below you. The many staircases in this game are perfect for this and by far the easiest way. If you position a target's body on top of a staircase and crouch behind it while the guards are at the foot of the stairs shooting at you, they will always hit the body.

If you follow either one of these strategies, but especially the second, you should have no problem at all obtaining All Zeros in every mission in Hitman: Blood Money
Things To Remember
1. Entering a restricted area, and guards shooting you because of it, does not affect your final rating.

2. Only incriminating acts such as holding weapons, picking locks, and pushing or attacking NPCs in public will affect your rating.

3. A guard seeing you near a body and shooting at you is not the same as him actually discovering a body. Therefore will not show up in your stats.

4. Entrance guards will always shoot at you if they see you go into restricted zones. Patroling guards will only follow and halt you at first. If you have unconscious bodies at the top of a staircase then quickly attract the attention of entrance guards and they will always shoot at you.

5. Even bodies killed by other NPCs can be discovered and show up in your stats, so be quick about escaping.

6. Use your pain killers and adrenaline shot as a final means of escape if you are seriously low on health.

7. Practice luring targets. Remember that a target chasing you with a silencer is less likely to attract the attention of nearby authorities.

8. If you change disguises, remember to always exit with your suit on (and your upgraded weapons); or else you will not get an SA rating.
