Custom MP5 Sound on 44100hz (TLS Update)

Description
Why is it that the default sound of the mp5 is 22050hz while the rest of the css weapons have 44100hz volvo

This custom sound mod requires an unconventional method of installing, how to install can be found below.

Note 1: Keep a back up of your installation's MP5 sounds and sound.cache file (in both left4dead2 and update folder) in case you want to go back to using regular mp5 sound mods, it is a faster process of uninstalling the fix.

Note 2: I recommend deleting your sound.cache found in the sound folders of left4dead2 and update folder in your installation, just incase the game doesn't overwrite it when doing this proccess.

To install this mod:

1. First you subscribe to this mod for the files

2a. You convert the original mp5 fire sound to 44100hz and replace the 22050hz version found in the original files with that.

The file path :
(Your install path)/left4dead2/sound/weapons/mp5navy/gunfire
The incendiary version is found in the update folder instead of left4dead2.

Delete the sound.cache found in the sound folder in both left4dead2 and update if necessary.

2b. (ALTERNATIVELY) There's also the already 44100hz converted original mp5 sound in this addon, along with the sound.cache to save time if using Audacity or an Audio Editor aint your thing.

GCFScape and an understanding of how to grab workshop mods from your game install is required and step 3 may not be necessary for this approach.

3. Rebuild audio cache (snd_rebuildaudiocache in the developer console) in-game.

Don't use this fix if you're gonna use other regular mp5 sound mods (since they're in 22050hz), they will sound wrong.

Nope, couldn't find it there myself. That's going to bother me forever now, hate it when stuff gets updated and there's no alternate or old version out there.

Is it now? That's a shame. Maybe there's an older version somewhere on gamemaps.com or so

His original mod shows that it has the stock folded though

It's the concept art MP5 mod by Alex_D, though he updated the animation

I understand how to use GCFScape but not audioeditors. Much thanks for already converting sound files:steamthumbsup:

It's mainly just here as a custom sound to show the off the patchy-majig, outside of this mod it's pretty useless unless you're making your own mp5 firing sound. That or the final warning riiight at the end of the description

It just occurred to me...
Do I need to keep subscribed to this after doing step 2b for it to work or am I good to unsub from this?

ok thanks

@Shad3rEVO, Steam Notifs have failed me
About the whole step in detail, it is an alternative step if you don't want to do 2a:
Look for the workshop folder in addons(Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/addons/workshop). All files are named Workshop ID's ( 1684220951 ). Look by name or workshop thumbnail.

Inside the vpk (Install GFSCape if you haven't already):

1. originalmp5sounds - original sounds in a standard quality format (22050hz -> 44100hz).
Use if you rebuilt your sound cache for any reason prior. Skip if you haven't before.

Drag Mp5-1.wav into Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/sound/weapons/mp5navy/gunfire
Drag Mp5-1_incendiary.wav into Left 4 Dead 2/ update /sound/weapons/mp5navy/gunfire

2. soundcache_in_left4dead2 - inside is a sound.cache file, drag and drop into Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/sound/to replace the existing one (backup recommended).

3. soundcache_in_update - same as 2. but at Left 4 Dead 2/ update /sound/ instead.
