Waystalker (S&D + Hagbane)
Some tricks in case you don't know......
Tracking missile abilities (Pyromancer, Waystalker) have couple special properties:
  • Both abilities are tended to go for enemy's head. Trueshot Volley can hit multiple elites/specials if you don't manually select a target.
  • You can manually select your target by holding your career skill button (default F). If the outline of a unit is red, your career skill will hit it. You can also "see through the wall" with this trick since you can aim enemies behind objects.
  • To make sure to headshot your target, throw your ability up the sky.
  • With talent Arcane Bodkins, Trueshot Volley can one shot-headshot CW.

Talent

LVL 5
Extra attack speed. You can choose whatever you like though.
LVL 10
To help reach multiple important breakpoints.
LVL 15
To sustain your ammo. The only talent you should take in legend.
LVL 20
Hitting enemies to regen is currently the most versatile level 20 talent. You will regen 1 hp even if you hit one enemy.
Crit/headshot to regen is the fastest way to heal if you can constant doing headshot or you have high crit state. Can be selected if you are confident about yourself.
LVL 25
In normal legend run, the extra heal from your ult will be overwhelming.
Ammo regen from ult is based on percentage, which means it is not good for longbow or hagbane.
CD reduction for more damage output and special sniping.

Melee weapon

Sword and dagger has the best balance between horde clean and elite damage. It also has low default block cost and 10% crit chance for light attacks, synergize great with extra block cost reduction and attack speed.

Breakpoint: 20% skaven, 10% infantry, Arcane Bodkins(talent)
One shot-headshot SV with heavy stab. Combo push attack-heavy stab is the fastest way to pull out heavy stab.
One shot-bodyshot slave rat with all light attacks

Range weapon

Hagbane has huge damage potential to all type of units, but it kills them slowly. Knowing your breakpoints will save you a lot of ammo, although your teammates may waste some shots due to enemies die slowly to your poison.
Unless you have to interrupt leech/assassin, you should always use charged shot.
Light shot on hagbane deals one direct damage, and apply DoT on one enemy.
Charge shot on hagbane deals one direct damage, apply DoT on one enemy and an AoE poison to the area. It cannot go through Super Armour by default, but if you drink strength potion you can solo CW patrol with around 15 charged arrows.

Breakpoints: 20% skaven, 10% armour, 10% infantry, Barrage(trait)
One charged arrow: hordes, hook rat
Two chraged arrows: SV, Marauder, rest of all specials
Three charged arrows: Mauler, berserker/plague monk
Four charged arrows with strength potion: CW, although the AoE poison will also damage other units to reduce the total arrows you need to clean patrol.

Necklace

Extra block and health. Natural Bond works well with Waystalker's passive, but if you are too easy to go down use other traits.

Charm

To reach the breakpoints mentioned above.

Trinket

Best choice if your team decide to take grim.
Waystalker (Dual Swords + Longbow)
Some tricks in case you don't know......
Tracking missile abilities (Pyromancer, Waystalker) have couple special properties:
  • Both abilities are tended to go for enemy's head. Trueshot Volley can hit multiple elites/specials if you don't manually select a target.

  • To make sure to headshot your target, throw your ability up the sky.
  • With talent Arcane Bodkins, Trueshot Volley can one shot-headshot CW.

Talent

LVL 5
Extra attack speed. With extra crit chance at 3rd and 4th light attacks, dual sword doesn't need extra crit.
LVL 10
Consistent boss damage. If you are really not confident about your aiming, use extra crit power.
CD reduction for more damage output. It is also your main CW killing power.

Melee weapon

Dual Sword has good cleave and high crit chance on 3rd and 4th light attacks, which makes it synergize great with Resourceful Combatant. It will reduce career skill CD so much that you basically can use your ult to kill all CW in a normal run.
However Dual Sword lack AP and CC ability. Your crit light attack can only stagger SV like a push. You will struggle to fight against armour elites in close range.
As a longbow waystalker, you need to place yourself in the backline and kill armour units/elites/specials from far.

Breakpoint: 20% chaos
One shot-bodyshot fanatic with Crit light attack
Two shot-bodyshot fanatic with light attacks
Two shot-bodyshot Marauder with charge attacks

Range weapon

With custom property, waystalker longbow can also reach quite a lot of meaningful breakpoints. You should always be looking for headshots, but these properties can save time and ammo when you didn't.
For hordes, shot them with charge arrows before close range combat. With talent, your arrow will be full after a horde fight.
For elites, delete them in the long range. Your passive will make sure arrows are in effective range.
For boss, constant headshots can deal huge amount of damage.
As a longbow waystalker, you need to place yourself in the backline and kill armour units/elites/specials from far.

Breakpoints: 20% skaven, 10% chaos, 10% infantry, Arcane Bodkins(talent)
One charge arrow bodyshot kill assassin
One charge arrow headshot kill all specials/SV (by default)
One charge + one quick arrow bodyshot gas/leech/vortex
Two charge arrow bodyshot kill SV/ratlin/fire rat/hook rat

(Two charge + one quick arrow bodyshot Mauler)
(Five charge arrow headshot kill CW)

Necklace

Extra block and health. Natural Bond works well with Waystalker's passive, but if you are too easy to go down use other traits.

Charm

To reach the breakpoints mentioned above.

Trinket

Best choice if your team decide to take grim.
Handmaiden (Spear + Longbow)
Some tricks in case you don't know......
Charging abilities (Foot Knight, Slayer, Handmaiden, Zealot, Battle Wizard) have couple special properties:
  • When you hold your career skill button (F by default), your charging path or landing position will be shown.
  • You are not invincible during charge. Hold the mouse right button when you start charging to block. However gas, fire, bullet, vomit, vortex will still hurt you.
  • During the charge, you can click mouse right button to stop charging.
  • All career (except Handmaiden with invisible talent) should avoid charging right into the horde. You will go down quicker than you thought.
  • Only Foot Knight, Handmaiden, Zealot can active charge in the air. Handmaiden is the only one can charge through infinity numbers of units.
  • You can use your charge while reviving teammates or healing. Use it to create some spaces.
  • All abilities/item that can stun boss will pull their aggro to you. So if you are not ready or your teams mates can kite the boss pretty well, don't use your ult mindlessly.
  • Handmaiden dash will deal bleed damage to infantry/berserker units. Full dot tick can one shot kill skaven/chaos horde. Use Lvl 25 invis talent to safely dash into horde to increase your horde clean ability.

Talent

LVL 5
Handmaiden already has high stamina regen and dodge. Only extra ammo can boost you with better ammo sustain.
LVL 10
The reason why Handmaiden is suitable for various build. With 15% extra power you can reach many useful breakpoints.
LVL 15
Handmaiden's passive aura already provides enough stamina regen. Extra dodge distance for clutching.
LVL 20
Hitting enemies to regen is currently the most versatile level 20 talent. You will regen 1 hp even if you hit one enemy. It is more reliable than kill to regen on Handmaiden.
LVL 25
One of the most overpowered talent in the game. Use short cooldown invisible to snipe specials, revive, safely kill elites.

Melee weapon

Spear suits Handmaiden best among all elf careers because Handmaiden has default high stamina regen to use spear's efficient combo.
With fast attack and long reach, it also deals best Boss damage.
When fighting hordes, use Push attack-light stab-light swipe combo. Your stamina will be full again after one combo.
When fighting elites, aim for their head. With constant headshot spear can kill elites very fast. But you need to know that heavy swipe deals more damage than heavy stab if you don't land a headshot.

Breakpointst: Eldrazor's Precision(talent)
Use light stab-light stab-heavy stab to kill SV with any two of three attacks land on its head.

Range weapon

Longbow is the overall best special sniping weapon for elf. Handmaiden can use invisible dash to reach a safe place to snipe. Use the space to aim accurately so that you can conserve ammo with headshots.
5% crit to make-up bad aim.

Breakpointst: Eldrazor's Precision(talent), 20% infantry
By default, you can one shot-headshot all specials and SV with charged shot.
Two shot-bodyshot all specials and SV with charged arrows.
Two shot-bodyshot assassin/gas/leech/vortex with uncharged quick shots.

Necklace

Extra stamina for combo and health. Handmaiden is probably the best career for clutch, it is very hard for you to go down. Use Nartol Bound to heal from trash damage.

Charm

To reach the breakpoints mentioned above.

Trinket

Best choice if your team decide to take grim.

LVL 25
One of the most overpowered talent in the game. Use short cooldown invisible to snipe specials, revive, safely kill elites.

Melee weapon

Glaive has low stamina and mid-range dodge distance, which can be perfectly minimized by Handmaiden passive and talent. It is easier to use than spear and dual dagger due to ist long reach, high cleave and high base damage.
For fighting hordes, use combo Push attacks-Light attack-Light attack. It is faster than the normal light attack chain.

Breakpointst: 10% infantry, Eldrazor's Precision(talent)
One shot-bodyshot fanatic with light/push attacks
One shot-headshot SV with heavy downswing
Combo one shot-bodyshot SV with Heavy upswing-Heavy downswing

Range weapon

Longbow is the overall best special sniping weapon for elf. Handmaiden can use invisible dash to reach a safe place to snipe. Use the space to aim accurately so that you can conserve ammo with headshots.

Shade (S&D + Hagbane)
Some tricks in case you don't know......
  • Shade has extra 5% base crit chance.
  • Shade Infiltrate can go through enemies.
  • Your next attack count as crit attack and crit damge boost works on it. Notice bomb and range weapon shot (without talent) will also cost your infiltrate.
  • You can backstab elites easily with 20% dodge distance. Bait an attack, and dodge twice to their back.

Talent

LVL 5
Dodge distance for safe and clutch since Shade is very squishy.
LVL 10
Extra damage is always better for a DPS focus career.
LVL 15
25% of extra backstab damage does not change any breakpoints. Extra backstab angle does not make you backstab hordes without go out of position.
Choose Bloodfletcher for ammo regen.
LVL 20
Crit/headshot to regen is the fastest way to heal if you can constant doing headshot or you have high crit state. Shade has extra base crit chance, and you can also use Infiltrate in hordes to gain a huge amount of temp hp.
Kill to regen should be used with melee weapons that can kill elites fast. If you prefer to stab CW to regen, this is also a solid option.
LVL 25
Extra clutch, extra damage.

Melee weapon

Sword and dagger has the best balance between horde clean and elite damage. It also has low default block cost and 10% crit chance for light attacks.
It is not the most optimal anti-elites weapon for shade, but it needs the least amount of practice and can regen temp HP very fast.
To use Infiltrate efficiently on Boss, point your camera on the ground/in the sky, push stab/heavy swipe, then heavy stab boss. Headshot will do more damage than backstab but it is fine.

Breakpoints: 20% skaven, Hekarti's Bounty(talent), 40% crit power
Combo kill SV with push attack-heavy stab if they all land on its head (even without Hekarti's Bounty actived).
One shot-bodyshot slave rat with all light attacks.
Three shot backstab all bosses with your ult. Bile Troll needs to apply Barrage or Shrapnel to three shot.

Range weapon

Hagbane can kill specials efficiently if you know the breakpoints. It can apply Barrage quickly and also CC hordes/multiple elites well if you need to, creating some breathing space. With barrage hagbane, you can use strength potion more efficient. It is easier to use on shade compared to other range weapons.

Breakpoints: 20% skaven, 10% armour, Hekarti's Bounty, Barrage
One charged arrow: hordes, hook rat
Two chraged arrows: SV, Marauder, rest of all specials
Three charged arrows: Mauler, berserker/plague monk
Three charged arrows with strength potion: CW, although the AoE poison will also damage other units to reduce the total arrows you need to clean patrol.

Necklace

Extra stamina and health. Boon of Shallya can be replaced by Barkskin to survive gas/bile troll vomit/storm fiend fire/vortex.

Charm

To reach the breakpoints mentioned above.

Trinket

Best choice if your team decide to take grim. You can also take Shrapnel for extra boss damage if you really want to.
Shade (Duel Daggers + Longbow)
Some tricks in case you don't know......
  • Shade has extra 5% base crit chance.
  • Shade Infiltrate can go through enemies.
  • Your next attack count as crit attack and crit damge boost works on it. Notice bomb and range weapon shot (without talent) will also cost your infiltrate.
  • You can backstab elites easily with 20% dodge distance. Bait an attack, and dodge twice to their back.

Talent

Dual Daggers have 10% extra crit chances on all attacks, make it great for this talent.
Kill to regen should be used with melee weapons that can kill elites fast. If you prefer to stab CW to regen, this is also a solid option.
LVL 25
Extra clutch, extra damage.

Melee weapon

With high crit chance, high dodge and fast heavy attacks, DD is the best anti-elites weapon for elf. Also it deals the best Infiltrate damage.
However, it has super low cleave, light attack damage, stagger, stamina, block and very short reach. Dodge dance is mandatory. Unexperienced players will go down very easily with this build.
It applies high bleed DoT when you hit units with light attacks. So when fighting hordes, your goal is hitting enemies with ONE light attacks and wait for DoT to kill them.

Breakpoints: 10% infantry, Hekarti's Bounty(talent), 40% crit power
One shot fanatic/clan rat with bleed damage
One shot Marauder with heavy attack (only one dagger need to land on its head)
One headshot + one bodyshot heavy attack kill SV
Three shot backstab all bosses with your ult or two shot with concoction. Bile troll need one extra ult.

Range weapon

Longbow is the overall best special sniping weapon for elf. However shade is a squishy melee based character. In a complicated situation, you won't find a lot of space for you to perform special sniping. Unexperienced players will take a lot of damage because of long aim time and less FoV during zooming.

Necklace

Extra stamina and health. Boon of Shallya can be replaced by Barkskin to survive gas/bile troll vomit/storm fiend fire/vortex.

Charm

To reach the breakpoints mentioned above.
For longbow build, only the purple potion can help you kill boss faster. Concoction can make sure you will not run out of potion when fighting bosses.

Trinket

Best choice if your team decide to take grim. You can also take Shrapnel for extra boss damage if you really want to.

Need an update with 2.0~!
Royale w/ Cheese  [créateur] 24 juil. 2019 à 20h53
I don't think swift bow is better than any of her range options.
JetPilot 24 juil. 2019 à 20h29
Is there any viability for the Swift bow?
Royale w/ Cheese  [créateur] 21 juil. 2019 à 17h00
It does everything ok but not the best. Boss damage hag is better and special sniping longbow is better. Also it's ammo usage is also a problem.
Yoshtar 21 juil. 2019 à 14h22
is the shade crossbow at all viable? as a sort of elite/monster/boss melter with S&D or even dual swords for more general use?
Royale w/ Cheese  [créateur] 18 juil. 2019 à 18h30
Decent but weird. Dual dagger can on shot fanatic with bleed, S&D has better cleave and both of them offer similar AP damage. Spear has much better range/cleave and amazing headshot damage. The only reason to use axe for me is its 100 dodge count.
Yoshtar 18 juil. 2019 à 17h25
what are your thoughts on Kerilllian's Axe?
Royale w/ Cheese  [créateur] 15 juil. 2019 à 22h32
I will but not sure making builds for cata or legend.
Jollyfalcon 15 juil. 2019 à 21h31
Are you planning on updating your guides once Winds of Magic comes out? I honestly wouldn't have enjoyed the game half as much or gotten into consistent legend content if I didn't have your guides as a baseline for creating builds. Thanks a ton!
