Опис
Stranglethorn Vale is a vast jungle south of Duskwood. This large zone forms the southern tip of the Eastern Kingdoms continent. In ancient history, it used to be under the dominion of the trolls of the Gurubashi Empire. The Empire eventually fell into civil war when an influential group of Gurubashi priests summoned the avatar of the blood god, Hakkar the Soulflayer. This sect of priests, and the rapidly rising number of followers, named themselves the Hakkari. With newfound power granted by their blood god, they began conquering large swaths of land while killing or sacrificing all who stood in their way. The Zandalari trolls watched the situation from afar, at first pleased with their fellow tribe's progress, but eventually the Zandalari realized that the Hakkari's conquering ways, and their blood god's sacrificial demands, were growing out of control. They rallied their forces and delved into Stranglethorn to stop the menace before it got out of hand. The Gurubashi trolls welcomed their Zandalari allies... but the Hakkari did not take kindly to the demands to cease their ways. The Hakkari Atal'ai priests, extremists within the extremists, began summoning Hakkar the Soulflayer so that he would be present on Azeroth in the flesh, instead of in spiritual form or through an avatar. The Gurubashi and the Zandalari banded together to stop the Hakkari, ending in massive bloodshed on both sides of the conflict. In the end, Hakkar and most of his zealots were defeated. However, the victors were grim: they knew that Hakkar was not truly dead. He had simply been banished from this world, for now. They vowed to remain vigilant should others attempt to summon Hakkar again. They did not see the few Atal'ai who escaped into the Swamp of Sorrows and built the Temple of Atal'Hakkar in secret. Even now, hundreds of years after the Gurubashi Empire's fall, the ruins lie scattered throughout Stranglethorn Vale.

The land is rich and green, and it often rains here. The wildlife of Stranglethorn Vale is varied and fit for a jungle. There are beasts of many types including tigers, apes, crocolisks, raptors, and more. Other threats include murlocs, naga, ogres, and trolls. Of course, as contested territory, Stranglethorn Vale is always considered dangerous...

There is a minor Alliance outpost in northern Stranglethorn, and a medium-sized Horde outpost in central Stranglethorn in Grom'gol Base Camp. A few goblins have set up some mining and deforesting operations in an attempt to make a quick profit. To the south, Booty Bay was originally a human settlement, but trolls drove them out. The goblins of the Steamwheedle Cartel in turn scared off the trolls, and turned Booty Bay into a neutral trade hub and center for goblin operations in the Eastern Kingdoms. However, they are often hounded by the Bloodsail Buccaneers, pirates who try to pilfer their trade routes.

Recorded in World of Warcraft at 30 FPS and optimized to keep filesize reasonably low.

This is the normal version of the wallpaper. Look for the [Storm] version for a more rainy view.

My thanks to Rucus, without him this footage wouldn't be possible! Let's enjoy vanilla World of Warcraft Classic!
