How To Fix Crotch Guns For Garry's Mod 13

This guide will show you how to get rid of the much hated crotch gun bug in Garry's Mod 13. This guide is for people who own CS:S This is my first guide, hope it is good!

Introduction

Hi I am nikorev and this is my first guide. I hope this will be a good one too! Fixing this bug is pretty easy, all it requires is patience. For those wondering, this bug originated when the steampipe updates were released for all source engine games. If you got pirated files, the steam pipe update broke them.

This guide is only for people that have CS:S

The Steps

*Make sure you have played at least 1 online game of Counter Strike Source!

1) Go to your library page on steam
2) Right-click on Counter Strike Source
3) Click Properties
4) Navigate to the Local Files tab
5) Click Verify Integrity Of Game Cache
6) Wait for it to finish
7) Make sure it says All Files Succesfully Validated (If not it will automatically fix it but repeat steps 1-7 just to be sure it fixed)
7) Right-click on Garry's Mod
8) Click Properties
9) Navigate to the Local Files tab
10) Click Verify Integrity Of Game Cache
11) Wait for it to finish
12) Make sure it says All Files Successfully Validated (if not it will automatically fix it but repeat steps 7-12 just to be sure it fixed)
13) Delete all TTT related addons (except for maps because those don't affect it)
14) Open Garry's Mod and see if the guns are now properly placed (if not, go to Last Resort)

Last Resort

Sadly if the First Steps did not work, you ended up here.

1) Delete and unsubscribe from all addons on Garry's Mod
2) Delete and reinstall both Garry's Mod and Counter Strike Source
3) Open Garry's Mod to see if the guns are properly placed

This should've worked as it worked for me and many other people.

Yes I do own a mac. I also tried this on my friend's PC and it worked just fine, so have no doubts!

Q: Can you fix the crotch guns if you don't have CS:S?

A: I added an alternative guide that works if you do not own CS:S. I am not responsible for any changes that guide owner makes so if the alternative doesn't work anymore, just comment.

Q: Why fix the crotch guns?

A: I wanted to fix it due to the difficulty of noticing weapons (deagle mostly) in critical gamemodes. These gamemodes are like TTT, Jailbreak, and RP servers.

EX: It is actually useful. If you have an M14 and you see a guy holding a gun in his crotch it can be hard to decifer which one it is and it can end in death. Continuing the story, you think it is a P228, you say "This should be easy." You go to kill him. Deagle to the head, one shot and you are now dead. (This is a TTT reference)

A: Because I own one. I know I have limitations to what games I can play, but who cares! I got Garry's Mod and CS:S.

Q: Are there alternative addons that I can use to get CS:S (or similar) guns in Garry's Mod?

A: Yes! I use customizable weapons and it works perfectly. It doesn't affect the crotch guns at all. M9K is another famous weapon addon I like. FA:S 2 has become one of my favorite packs and is made by the same creator of Customizable Weapons. Mad Cow weapons has also earned a spot on one of my favorite weapon packs.

Q: Can i just disable all my addons instead deleting it?

A: Disabling addons just prevents them from loading up with gmod. Just play it safe an uninstall all of your addons. Just write them all on a paper and reinstall all non-TTT related addons.

@The_GWR_Duckie This solution only works for those that have legitimately purchased CSS. Try using a different provider for the textures.

@Timiraid, The magnum is not a CSS weapon/model, its a HL2 weapon/model. Verify integrity of game cache of GMod and you should be good. Uninstall any addons that overwrite the magnum model, I believe it is weapon/357.mdl.
