WoW Classic: Sapphiron

Sapphiron was once a proud blue dragon that guarded a hoard of treasure in the mountains of Northrend. When Arthas Menethil, a death knight in service of the Lich King, encroached upon his lair, Sapphiron was slain and subsequently raised as an undead frost wyrm. He assisted the death knight prince in establishing dominion on the northern continent. It is unknown why Sapphiron is so much more powerful than other frost wyrms. It could be because Arthas raised him personally, or it could be a reflection of how powerful Sapphiron was in life. It could be both. Either way, he is one of the greatest frost wyrms in the Lich King's forces. Now that the Third War had concluded, Sapphiron was stationed in the Scourge necropolis Naxxramas. He serves as the guardian to the final chamber, the final line of defense before anyone can reach the archlich Kel'Thuzad. His frigid attacks know no peer; adventurers require resistance to the cold to even think of having a chance of survival.
